You forgot to tell one important characteristic of the Amiga and Atari-ST versions. IT WAS A US-GOLD / TIERTEX PRODUCTION ! But Tiertex actually sourced it to another studio. It was really weird to see a Tiertex game on Amiga using sprites (even if just to add a nice backdrop, absent from the ST version), having both music and sfx, having a decent collision routine and not running at 17 fps or lower.
The audio is much better, but also because of the nice fade ins. What's really great about this is it's basically vocals of what would normally be scrolling on screen, not constant commentary, which is more reserved for Retro Core. This is the way to to do going forward.
I think this was one of the first games I saw in action for the MD, maybe in a department store, I dunno. I rented it shortly after I got my own console. I love the contemporary wind-up toy aestethics this game displays, and its overall cheery tone. And I loved to play as the bad guy, for once. Now it's mainstream XD

The guy is never backward when putting the Amiga down, who then proceeds to call us "fan boys". I knew he would say the ST had better scrolling than the Amiga even before he said it. His anti-Amiga agenda Is beyond tiresome.
voice overs are a keeper. i find it more distracting to look at the gameplay and read through this slow scrolling text than to look and listen to you. you show so much gameplay that the bit of voiceover doesn't take anything away from showcasing the sound of the game

I souks imagine you could hack the PS2 audio files to use the PC Engine music. I did that with some Dreamcast games back in the day, most noticeably Daytona U SA
Because you don't live in Japan and can't read Japanese? . I do live in Japan (for the past 22 years). I've always played Japanese imports since I was 12 so it makes no difference to me. I actually prefer the Japanese versions when it comes to Retro games.
They are for whoever. Many people my age grew up playing Japanese imports, especially people from the UK since we were always last to get games. So for them seeing the Japanese version brings back a little nostalgia. There's another reason to use Japanese versions. Back in the 16bit days many western versions were censored or changed in some way. Finally, I use real game quite often from my own collection which is 99% Japanese.
@@RetroCore well in the censored departmen it's fair to put thoes version instead of the western ones, but you're so used to jp languange that you don't see that we in the west not so much, we don't understand anything, another thing the use of the term famicom, or super famicom I know that's the nes or snes but younger ones, not so much.

@@RetroCore nor seems to be the way you played the Amiga version :-) I know this is an old vid, but the emulation is quite off. The pc was at low power mode or something? Or just some weird emulation settings? I've just played it again in WinUAE but it doesn't stutter at all, nor do I remember that in the time I ran in on my A500. Although memory is very good to fill in frames that were never there ;-) Anyway, I had a blast with this game back in the day. It perfectly shows you can make simple graphics and simple game mechanics in a very entertaining game. Stay healy all!
I'm going to sound like a douche bag by saying this, but keep this voice-over format because all the typos, spelling errors, and grammatical errors in the text scrolls of your usual videos were very distracting.

Bonanza Bros is one game I never really liked as 12 year old. I was more in to blowing stuff up :D These days I can appreciate the game play much more.
Also in the master system version it has a higher difficulty and new enemies like the Ninja and the Scientists
This is true although I wasn't sure of it being more difficult.

The guy is never backward when putting the Amiga down, who then proceeds to call us "fan boys". I knew he would say the ST had better scrolling than the Amiga even before he said it. His anti-Amiga agenda Is beyond tiresome.
voice overs are a keeper. i find it more distracting to look at the gameplay and read through this slow scrolling text than to look and listen to you. you show so much gameplay that the bit of voiceover doesn't take anything away from showcasing the sound of the game

Bonanza Bros. were likely inspired by The Blues Brothers, along with Tonzura Bros. or Runaway Five in MOTHER 2 / EarthBound.

I souks imagine you could hack the PS2 audio files to use the PC Engine music. I did that with some Dreamcast games back in the day, most noticeably Daytona U SA

I don't understand the use of jp versions of the games when exists western versions that do not use moon language.
Because you don't live in Japan and can't read Japanese? . I do live in Japan (for the past 22 years). I've always played Japanese imports since I was 12 so it makes no difference to me. I actually prefer the Japanese versions when it comes to Retro games.

They are for whoever. Many people my age grew up playing Japanese imports, especially people from the UK since we were always last to get games. So for them seeing the Japanese version brings back a little nostalgia.
There's another reason to use Japanese versions. Back in the 16bit days many western versions were censored or changed in some way.
Finally, I use real game quite often from my own collection which is 99% Japanese.
@@RetroCore well in the censored departmen it's fair to put thoes version instead of the western ones, but you're so used to jp languange that you don't see that we in the west not so much, we don't understand anything, another thing the use of the term famicom, or super famicom I know that's the nes or snes but younger ones, not so much.

@@RetroCore nor seems to be the way you played the Amiga version :-) I know this is an old vid, but the emulation is quite off. The pc was at low power mode or something? Or just some weird emulation settings? I've just played it again in WinUAE but it doesn't stutter at all, nor do I remember that in the time I ran in on my A500. Although memory is very good to fill in frames that were never there ;-)
Anyway, I had a blast with this game back in the day. It perfectly shows you can make simple graphics and simple game mechanics in a very entertaining game.

I'm going to sound like a douche bag by saying this, but keep this voice-over format because all the typos, spelling errors, and grammatical errors in the text scrolls of your usual videos were very distracting.
Fair comment. Those text bars are made in the early hours of the morning though so that's my excuse for all the errors :)
Never played this game. It looks pretty damn good. Love the voice over.
You should give it a try. It becomes really challenging on later levels.
