- Henry sets Creature up on a blind date with a friend of a friend at DeLacey's Café; however, things quickly turn sour when the date in question doesn't seem very enthralled by his poetic musings.
So let's all agree on one thing: the BOOK version of Creature is ... a bit of an incel. I mean, when your only frame of reference is 'Sorrows of Young Werther' and 'Paradise lost ... yeah, chances are, you're probably gonna end up with a skewed look when it comes to romantic connections.
LUCKILY - this is Sitcom Universe! And lucky for THIS Creature, he's had much healthier influences to guide him. Not only does he have Henry to offer some much appreciated wingman advice, but he's also got two close female friends, so he can, y'know ... learn to talk to actual women.
All this to say, THIS Creach is much better when dealing with possible romantic connections. That is, as well as an 18 year-old reanimated teen can be ... reciting Homer on the first date probably wasn't the suavest move there bud.
That said Kelsey was a bad influence anyway, so he probably dodged a bullet.

Omg, describing Creature as an incel is so fucking accurate I can't even. Like, I empathise with his situation, it's very unfair. But also he has massive Nice Guy/Pick Me Boi energy. Thank you for helping me realise what my conflicted feelings for him are
My pleasure! Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy, but an important part to keep in mind when reading the book is that BOTH Victor and his Creation are … shitty people. It’s what makes their original dynamic WORK, it’s what makes it compelling!
But that kind of dynamic wouldn’t be fun to see in a light-hearted sitcom (especially one where people are simply ‘’mildly inconvenienced’ by his appearance.) Hence, my choice to write him as being a bit less self-loathing, and a bit more cautiously naïve. This way, he contrasts MORE with Victor, allowing more comedy-driven scenes!
@@vvarx i love that idea so much. Smart choice too! Also when the girl wanted to start a fire I couldn’t help but think creature would absolutely hate it (aside from it being a crazy idea 😂) b/c of the anger and pain he would likely reminisce about in the growing pain stages of his past.
At least she didn’t run away screaming.
Listen, Kelsey strikes me as the person who has 'won't date guys under 6 feet' in her Tinder bio.
Chances are Creature is ticking all the boxes for her preferred 'tall, mysterious, bad boy' archetype.

See, i love Creature (or Salem, as I've named him) because he's level-headed [mostly] and generally wholesome. I'd fall in love instantly if a man recited the iliad or some such great feat of literary art to me on our first date.

Now I’m trying to remember where I first heard this audio from! I know it wasn’t the original video, it was another fandom that did either an animatic or MMD (wow, remember those?) with the audio from this. I want to say it was either Hetalia or Homestuck, but I can’t think of what characters would have been used!
