I’m having so much fun reading books for Oldest August! It’s so nice to get to books that have been sitting around for years. Yay Gladys Taber! I love her books and I’m slowly collecting them. 😊

Yay! Glad you are getting to some of your oldest books! I'm so glad to hear that you have read Gladys Taber! I am loving her writing so much! Which books have you read by her and do you own some that you haven't read yet?

I have discovered that some authors write their books in a manner that makes things more understandable if you read in order. And some authors write in a way that you can read each book independently.😊

2 tricks I used to do when it was Scribd (haven’t had it for awhile) was DOWNLOAD like 8 audiobooks to my old iPod and then turn off Wi-Fi and turn on airplane mode and it let me listen to them all. Another thing I did was DO NOT add books you want to read to your saved list… instead keep a list elsewhere. Seemed tome if they know you want to read certain books then it limits them. Good luck and happy reading!

I haven't tried downloading several, but I feel the same about the "saved" list. I do have several on my Saved list and I usually add them when I want to remember that they are there, but can't get to them right away. Thankfully, I only have a handful of my 60 by 60 books saved to that list. So far it's going well. I'm on my 5th Elizabeth Berg book and am plowing right along. LOL! They haven't taken any off my list yet.

I’m definitely a list person too. I don’t use as Ms y services as you, but I definitely check Libby to see if a book is available there when I add it to my TBR. I also check if my library has a physical copy as I prefer to read in print. I’m surprised you don’t use Libby that much-that’s the only app I use to get books.
Like you I definitely prefer to have a physical book to look through even when I’m listening to an audiobook.
I want to read Watership Down someday-just never gotten to it.
Night is brutal but definitely something everyone should read.

I would use Libby more if it had the books that I want. I've been able to use it this year for several of my book club books though. The later Reacher books are on there too.

Thoroughly enjoying my read of P.G. Wodehouse (Right Ho, Jeeves), on my Kindle since 2010, for Oldest August. Looks like next will be H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, but we'll have to see what my mood is, _onaccounta_ I'm a HUGE mood reader. 😆 Truth be told, I have a couple unread books from 2009 (Nelson DeMille's Cathedral and Alice in Wonderland) but I had to pass them by because I just wasn't in the right mood to read either of them. 😬 Thanks for sharing! 📚

Good job on the Wodehouse book! I hope you can get through Time Machine too. Just remind yourself about how short it is. LOL!

Greetings from Cushing! I like your shirt! I’m reading an M. C. Beaton. I’ve wanted to read mysteries but I don’t always understand what is going on in Christie and Holmes. 🤷‍♀️I like her because I can understand her language. I like the 60 idea. I turn 60 in August. 😮I am definitely a mood reader.

Hi Amy! I have some relatives that used to live in Cushing! The older ones have passed away now and the others have moved to Tulsa though. I graduated from OSU, so I used to be in your area. I've only read one M.C. Beaton and enjoyed it. I've tried Sherlock Holmes and felt the same. I like Agatha Christie fine, but am not as crazy about her as some are. I hope you have a good birthday month! Let me know how sixty feels since I'll be right behind you! :)
Totally nothing wrong with being a mood reader. I think probably most people are. I've just always been more goal oriented and get a kick out of checking things off my list. Sometimes my list is way too long though! LOL!

@@lizziefayelovesbooks OSU class of ‘91. I don’t think 60 will be that bad. I’ve been blessed with good health so if I can just make it across the finish line. I know we’re supposed to run the race for the prize but I may have to fast walk. 🤨👵🏻 We have similar tastes in books. After you mentioned the guy from Oklahoma who wrote a series of books that you were wanting the rest of; well, my husband’s friend asked him about those because he was reading them or was going to. They’re religious books but the name escapes me. 🫣 🤔 I thought that was weird since you said they’re hard to come by.
