Hey thanks a ton for the vid series on these. I just bought this ones nephew the 350d! I’m very excited about it but I thought to thank you for the restoration series on these 310g’s as they are closely related and if I need to go into any of the assemblies, etc I’ll be able to first consult with the proper episodes you’ve been so kind to upload. Great job man, take care and thanks again, freezer’
Happy Saturday! I need to go back and watch the first 28 episodes… On the property next to the woodlot, there is an old 310 sitting InThe blackberries. I am not going to respawns, but if I can track down the owner I might try to buy it. Your vid’s are a huge help with what I need to look for before pulling the trigger on it. I do not know if it is a gas or diesel unit, but it does have the rear winch and at least a 4-way blade (near as I can tell through the foliage). I know what I will be watching over the next several weeks - thank you for an awesome series!
@@wildcatwilly first I have to contact the lot owner. There is also a mystery backhoe, of which only the canopy roof and top of the backhoe arm are visible above the greenery, along with assorted & sundry abandoned vehicles and junk. If I do find out anything, I will certainly post back about it - THANK YOU!
Me, too. The whole shifter arm wiggles a ton The ball on the inside end is actually square, and the upper pin looks to be a bolt and THOROUGHLY wiggles... now I gotta find parts... got any ideas?
Recently replaced a final drive unit on my 310g. Pulled it from a 310 with front loader that was acquired for parts. Gotta say you are missing the joy of scratching around in the desert grit---nice shops and lifts. Can you do a vid on the under carriage rollers/bearings and upper center idler. Also bearings on front wheel.
Even new gears are bevelled to aid with shifting. On my 310E, I made an access hatch in the front floor plate for greasing the throwout bearing that I now leave off. Not only does it let warm air in for winter, but it lets me watch the driveshaft so I can choose the perfect moment to shift without grinding the gears.
I actually had the parts made and I made extra they are for sale if you would like some the reverse idler thrust washer is not available anymore so I had a hundred of them made.
Can you help me out with a question? I am replacing the clutch throw out bearing and the ‘carrier’ bearing there where the output shaft from the engine connects to the drive shaft. In this process I noticed that the input shaft going into the the transmission/differential is kinda sloppy. If I pull it forward and move it around, it is less sloppy than when I push it backwards and move it around. It’s pretty sloppy when you push it back (toward the rear of the machine). I am wondering if you think it would be possible to replace that input shaft bearing by removing from the front without taking everything apart? I’m just asking for an opinion. It may be that the bearing at the rear of the shaft needs replacing more than the one at the front. I’m not sure. And, the amount of forward to rear movement I can get on the shaft, moving it by hand, is about 3/16” and the amount of up and down, and side to side play may be as much as an 1/8” when it’s pushed in as far as it will go. That’s with that 3 sided cover and the oil seal off. What do you think? I’ll take any input from anyone if you wanna jump in!
There was an old-timer on the West Coast that I talked to for a long time about them. His words were to me do not worry about play on the input shaft... With that being said I'm going to try to tighten mine up
I’m just wondering about your thoughts on the possibility of pulling out and replacing that bearing while it’s still in the machine? I am having my doubts and I’m not sure I really wanna try it, but……, I’m just curious about the idea of trying it.
@@wildcatwilly lol I probably do, I havn't cheked. ive only had the dozer for a little more than a week and have been working on the tracks when I have time.
I am liking your channel and find it very informative. I have an opportunity to pick up a gas 310 of the same vintage that yours is for $3000 USD. It is very dry with no indications of leaks but also no indication of ever been greased.:) It is in WA State so there is hardly any rust. Would you think this is a reasonable price?
@@wildcatwilly I appreciate your thoughts, I need to take another look at the tracks and undercarriage and then will make a decision whether to bite the Bullitt or not:).
This Episode is 31 Part 1, I can't seem to find Part 2 or later Episodes. Hope you are planning on continueing the Restoration. I am enjoying all your past Episodes. Good luck.. Are there later Episodes?
Yes really hoping to get started soon. We just finished harvest. I have just a few more things to do at Charlie's shop then we will both be hitting it full force. Thank you for reaching out and please stay tuned.
Thank you👏👏👏😊
You're welcome.

Hindsight has never been my strong suit. 😅
Hindsight is 20/20 here haha
I love your Case videos I just picked up a 310 that only moves if you pull back on both brake steering levers why would it be opposite
Thanks for watching!
Do you by chance have a video on the clutch?
Not yet the transmission really has been hammering me.
Order a manual.
Ok copy that! I have a 1957 320 and the clutch is out to lunch. I'm curious how a guys sets a clutch up on these old girls!
@@wildcatwilly I have a parts manual and haven't been a shop manual. Do you have a source?
@@JerodDoonan it'll be very simple you can change it from below as I understand it...
Do you know where I can get the cage bearings for the reverse idler shaft?
Yes I do I finally found them I will have to check my part numbers they are available through case construction side
Would love that information. Thank you much!
You're welcome I'm also having reverse idler thurst washers made they will be the only ones in existence if you're interested in a set
Can’t find anything for case construction side?
I can help you I'm just tied up this weekend can you message me on my Facebook page?
I have a 310 case and the first and reverse is making racket noise??
That's pretty common. First and reverse take all the abuse. You might have a chipped gear.
Nice job! I have a 310G locked in first. I haven't taken it apart but I am guessing that it is a worn shift arm, locks up in reverse.
Sounds like a good possibility. Thanks for watching.

Did you say that your supposed to put mineral oil in the transmission?
Yes I did everyone swears by it on the forum.
