Another bumper acquisition, in preparation for my "ink and paper" videos every Thursday. Starting this week for channel members, and next week for everyone.
A nice round up of notebooks. Sadly, I’m still working through my stash so no new ones for me. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛
Thank you for your feedback.
Take a look at the Moleskine Volant (Pocket) the same size as the Cahier. But more pages en it can handle not to wet fountain pens.
I have added it to my list of notebooks to try in due course. Thank you.
I have heard that TK Max in England have them with discount. Sometimes up to 70% discount.
Yes, you are correct. There is a TK Max store in my town, here in the UK, and I can confirm that they have good discounts. However, they seem to be selling what ever slow selling stock they can acquire, and so that inevitably means odd sizes and odd colours. You never know what they may be selling from week to week.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
Unfortunately here in the Netherlands they don’t have the Smythson notebook at TK Max. A couple of weeks back I was in London and purchased 4 Panama size notebooks. The shop is like a candy store for notebooks.
I hear ya!
Hi! I wonder, have you uploaded the rhodiarama review? I'm planning to buy it for daily planner:D
Not yet, but it’s on my list.
Really good swag of note books! Larger orange work/ ideas book was my fav
Curious to know Neil do you write in pencil / I have "pencil only" note books. I'm left handed fountain pens can be a problem for me .Cheers Mate
I certainly use pencil sometimes, especially when I'm annotating paperwork or formulating an idea. But I tend to use either rollerballs, fountain pens, or indeed a BIC multi pen. I like to experiment.
Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
I HATE notebooks that have any branding inside, and this one.. on every page... even just watching via youtube boiled my blood :D :D
I agree. It’s so annoying.
Loved the video! I was wondering what that brown notebook was at the beginning of the video, the one you compared to the Moleskine Cahier?
The brown notebook was a Clairefontaine "Agebag". A strange name, but a great notebook for fountain pen use.
Hi, thanks for the video. Would you measure the Rhodiarama hard cover and the card cover of the Moleskine (the pocket size ones) and let me know the sizes please. I wonder if the Rhodiarama will fit inside my leather TN cover on elastic 'strings'? I have a pocket size leather cover. I know Moleskine ones - those with a card cover and those with a hard cover both fit on the strings, but I wanted to check the size of the Rhodiarama (pocket,) ahead of hopefully ordering one. Thank you.
The Rhodiarama measures 9.3cm x 14.5cm, but is 1.8cm thick. So, in my opinion, probably wouldn't fit your leather TN cover. The Moleskine Cahier measures 9.1cm x 14.0cm, and is thin enough to possibly have three of them in a TN cover. Hope this helps.
@@Flatability Thank you so much; it is so helpful. I'll measure the hardcover of the Moleskine, which does fit, to compare. I have just found a UK supplier of a large choice of pocket notebook inserts (made overseas) where postage is minimal or free for Uk residents when over £20 sale value 😁 I'm happy to share in this thread, if you're ok with it? I've ordered Dapper, Nomad and Lochby inserts to test with fountain pens. I'm a fan of Rhodia paper - I have an A5 softcover Goalbook and it's great for fountain pens, so I'd like to buy the Rhodiarama in 'pocket' size, but only if it fits inside the leather TN. I'm looking forward to your pen tests on the Rhodiarma review 🙏🏻
Could the black Letts be B5 size?
B5 format
176 x 250 mm
17,6 x 25 cm
6,9 x 9,8 inch
You may be right. Thank you.
what happened to the Black and Red notebook range?
I used to see them in my local Staples store, here in the UK, but I haven’t seen them in any other store local to me. I bought this one from Hamelin Brands (in Bury St Edmunds) via the Amazon platform. They have a good range of Black and Red notebooks.
@@Flatability I bought my Black & Red notebook at my local FedEx Office location. I have seen them at my local Office Depot. The UK equivalent being Viking Direct. I did a couple of searches and they do have 2 variations but both are A4 size.
That's interesting. Thanks for your feedback. I have a huge number of notebooks, so I'm not sure when a Black & Red notebook will feature in a video, but look out for it on an "ink & paper" Thursday. And let me know how you get on with your version.
¿lo has usado? Gracias
I haven't used Beechmore notebooks, but I think they are produced by the same corporate entity as that which controls the Ottergami brand. And I have tried that one. I suspect that the paper is either the same, or similar. I found that the paper in my Ottergami (140 GSM) notebook felt very similar to paper found in notebooks from my local pound store. This paper is great for pencil and rollerball, and doesn't have much bleed through, but is a little rough in texture. Certainly, the branding for both Beechmore and Ottergami is very similar, and well made. But the paper is a little rough.
Thank you for your input.
