I have worn the SBGW289 for almost three months. The fit and proportion on my 16.5cm wrist are fantastic. Its dial is another star in the package. When comparing to my wife's candy pink OP, the details are night and day.
thanks for the awesome video! was waiting for someone to finally compare the new KS with a GS. I think u showed where the value is, the design finishing and dial details are amazing. many elements comparable to GS. would you say the finishing on the king seiko is zuratsu? or up to the level of zuratsu polishing, especially on the case portion?
@@lebojay I kNow. It's a shame because the top tier gs pay for its own development and new Movements. And the rest just have to use the same old or gs cast offs. It's just that at least the ETA 2824 gets different grades and fiNishing. Seiko needs to step it up. With the powermatic80. SeiKo is falling behind
I own the red dial king seiko, and I'll be honest it feels like getting a budget grand seiko, the bracelet imo seems better than some GS, and I genuinely feel that while the GS is just ever so slightly better in some aspects of the finishing, the king sieko is like 95% with a more retro feel. and that 12 o clock index is just gorgeous on the king seiko. yes it has a 6r movment but it's fine and it's not a bad movmenet that's also very thin. if u dropped a GS logo on it I bet you many wouldn't say a word regarding the design and finishing 😅
I’ve heard of King Seikos being so well-tuned that they achieve an accuracy of + / - ONE SECOND a day, but that’s really down to good luck in buying any particular piece.
I would love to see the comparison with the Grand Seiko and the upscale King Seiko sje083, sje089, or sje091 (6L movements). The King Seiko watches with 6R movements are not worth reviewing. They are overpriced and should retail for less than a $1,000.
Механизм дешёвый в king seiko. Швейцарцы свой механизм с частотой 28800 полуколебаний, ставят в часы за 500 долларов. А seiko 21600 ставит в часы за 1700 долларов. Лучше купить certina за 800 долларов.
There is really no contest here, the Grand Seiko has a Spring Drive movement, whereas the King Seiko has a pedestrian 6R movement. The King Seiko line overlaps with Presage line.

Been loving the look of these KS models. Will try one on at some point. Happy to wait a while for a good deal as I think the price may drop on these.

Two classic looking designs.
They really did the ks dirty with that peasant movement
My thoughts exactly. Such an incredible design, such a shitty, nothing special movement.
I think it’s becoming a problem that they don’t have anything between 6R and 8L. Seiko simply does not make a movement suitable for a $1700 watch.

@@rage8kage Unfortunately their products are flying off the shelf as it is, so they have no motivation to invest in making them better.
@@lebojay U nailed it 💯.. Lots of fan boys still buying em ...Seiko knows what they're doing from a business stand point
Thanks for the review!!

Above certain price point finishing is just in people's head and is very much influenced by the logo on the dial and/or the price.
@@DM-rc4yu I have to disagree. Objectively these revived KS and most GS are definitely not finished to the level that you can't find a flaw.
You do pay for a logo on most luxury items. But the GS is definitely a step up especially with the movement being way ahead of the 6R.

Thanks for this. I could totally have both of these in my collection (6.5" wrist or so)
I wanna buy a King Seiko SPB281 but cant decide between the one shown in your video and the black version. What would you go for?
Just bought this watch from Belmont!! I pick it up from them later this month :)
Congrats, it's a stunner for sure!
The GS bracelet looks shit, but good case dial design good movement. KS looks damn good and well polished case bracelet and dial, movement is shit.
While similar I have to give to the Grand Seiko. A more elegant and flowing shape. A superior dial.

KS > gs

This model GS doesn't have a spring drive movement
Who cares if the grand seiko is much more expensive and i prefer the looks of the ks much more
Grand Seiko with your face in the strap is Amazing 😅
