Today I share my latest sketchbook, which has taken the form of a nature journal where I explore things in my local environment that interest me, sketching and painting, drawing and exploring! My sketchbook is a Seawhite of Brighton A5 Concertina sketchbook.

I know art can always be improved, but I don't think it's possible to 'fail'. It doesn't have to look exactly the same for it to be beautiful, it doesn't even have to look close. Either way I give you permission to fail
I have one journal for bird I see or hear on my walk, and another journal for plant life I see

I've been toying with the idea of a nature journal. We live on a small-ish plot of land with woods, surrounded by woods and understory plants as well as by the abundance of trees, bushes, vines, and perennials that we've planted. My excuse is that I've been waiting to find an appropriate journal to record all this, when in reality I just need to start - I could always paste in loose pages of sketches! Thank you for sharing with us - what a beautifully inspiring book of paintings and sketches!

Hi Lois, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful, lovely nature journal with us ! I like the way you paint in line and wash (correct term?), also your compositions I find very interesting 🤗 ! After swatching my watercolor paints (which was a lot of work) I have started a sketchbook just for color mixing and I am so thrilled when I find I can mix a color I aimed for or I get surprised. It would be so nice if you could do a tutorial / demo of a flower in the way of your nature journal 🤗

This was a look at a wonderful Nature Journal! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm trying to be more determined to keep one regularly but I guess I prefer to capture my days in photographs that hope to sketch later but unfortunately, I only do it sporadically. I'm still trying though...

I love this! I live in Florida where’s it’s too hot now to do much walking outdoors. I do much sketchbook journaling on trips but think I’ll start a nature journal - looser and more therapeutic. I loved your sketches and explanation!
