After leaving Derry in the 1970s my sister and I went back about 14 years ago for a holiday. We drove the coastal road from Laugharne to Derry and it's absolutely stunning! Would love to do the train journey from Belfast to Derry one of these days or a drive around the entire coast of Ireland. 🙂
Hi and welcome to the Channel 🤗 So great to hear you got the chance, to Return to Derry, I can guarantee the train journey is amazing, even if its windy and raining it adds to the experience with crashing waves and wild train journey along the coast.I will note that drive from Laugharne to Derry as I do plan to visit Dunluce Castle. In addition, I do hope you get the chance to drive the wild Atlantic way quite the journey.👍
I like sitting on the right of the train from Coleraine to Castlerock and then the left after Castlerock because I prefer looking at the hills rather than the sea, nice and all it looks.
I have no doubt you will enjoy it the scenery is magnificent. If you have and questions I am always here to help and let me know how you like the journey 👍
Excellent video, hugely enjoyed the train journey, I've never seen a proper wee video of that run showing all the good stuff, you really edited it well :)
@@jimsimpson1006 real question. On tv they make the tribal war fare look ongoing in Ireland but I gotta think people get along for most part right? So like atba restaurant is the staff all catholic or all protestant or do they work together?
Hi and thank you 👍 I would recommend a visit to Antrim, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle and the giants causeway is a pretty great adventure.Of course if your going to be in Belfast, near the end of October there is a great halloween festival in Derry.Hope this helps and have a great trip and I guarantee you will enjoy this train journey 👍Ps Also sit on the side of the carriage near the platform at Belfast, Laynon place to get the best costal view after Coleraine, if unsure ask the conductor 👍
Hello. I’ve enjoyed your video very much. I am in Manchester at the moment. I am planning to visit Derry next month. Are there direct flights from Manchester to Derry? Thanks for your reply.
@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruiseAre there any buses that go from the airport to the city centre? I am confident there are. Could you please tell me which bus numbers i should take? Thank you so much.
Hi yes there are buses going from the airport to the city centre the operator is trans link don't know the number bus but as it is a small airport it should be very easy find the stop. Also the distance to the city centre is only 7 miles so a taxi would also not be very expensive Enjoy your time in the magic city of Derry 👍@@TravelNikNaks
@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruiseGreat. I am taking notes of your tips. Thanks a lot. I am planning to do a Derry Girls tour towards the end of January. I’d like to prepare as early as possible. Thanks. Keep making videos. Happy 2024 to you.
Interesting little travelogue on the Belfast to Derry/Londonderry line. From the scenic PoV it promoted the landscape quite well, but the AI texting was abominable, as most AI is, whowever uses it! It was quite funny to see the text read "Dirty City" in place of "Derry City" along with a few other little faux pa's! Was the video spoilt? Yes!; simply because Irishmen - particularly those who have a National/Republican bias - can't resist taking a swipe at British troops and bringing in anti-British sentiment and Bloody Sunday, which is a great shame and does nothing to promote peace and harmony. Your hoping that the "Peace Flame will continue forever" really contradicts the sentiment of the previous segment. If I was to be really picky, I'd say that your grammar isn't up to the mark, and remind you that Derry is a Cathedral city, not a town (as in your final text), and there are two River Bann's, not one! Perhaps your Geography isn't as well studied as your history!
I thank you for your comments👍 and your praise and criticism is gracefully accepted,Your right my grammar and punctuation is bad.I suppose that overtime, I will get better, but I think the pictures in the video speak a thousand words, to the viewer, regardless of my mistakes and I do hope the video helps you with travel whatever nationality or religion you may be 👍🎄
Thank you, it was kind of you to re[ly; and I'm glad you took my criticisms as they were intended. Yes, the pictures speak well for themselves, and any descriptive narrative is also helpful to a visitor. As it happens, I know Northern Ireland very well - and in some cases even better than the locals (but don't tell them that)! I also remember some of the old railways that have now long gone - but more to the point I know the people from all sides of the community - I've lived and worked with both, and never got involved in any discussions about police, army, Catholic, Protestant, Loyalist, Nationalist, IRA, UVF, and as a resuilt I mixed well with the majority of the citizens. My suggestion for travelogues such as yours, is to cut out all references to politics, religion, cultural divides in a country that has had more than enough of such divisions. Most visitors may or may not be interested in such things, but it should be left up to them to find out for themselves. Personally, I don't care about anyone's politics or religion and certainly never want to discuss it; and as an Irishman, you would be more aware than any visitor that a wrong word can do a lot of damage, especially if you show favour to one side or another. Everyone can enjoy beautiful scenery, but not everyone is interested in local politicking, so continue with your videos and show the countryside and the people as they would prefer to be seen. It's a lovely country, and mostly a lovely people. Best wishes.
@@reggriffiths5769 I've got to say, I found your criticism and opinion completely unacceptable. You cannot complain when confronted by historical facts and reality. As a foreign tourist I found the addition of this information intriguing and educational.
@@theunsnaude3634 Strange how my fellow countryman took my criticisms with total equanimity, but you as a self-proclaimed foreigner found them "totally unacceptable!" It shows your level of consideration for the locals who certainly might not appreciate a one-sided story. and it's for that reason I suggested that visitors should find out for themselves if they really want to know. The locals in a community as divided as NI for 400 years have strong viewpoints and thousands of friends and family killed and injured, so they don't need unwarranted comments that can spark off more trouble. However, you being a foreigner, I understand your ignorance of such matters. If you really want to know the history of a divided community, buy a book on it and get ALL the facts without upsetting anyone.

River Foyle is largest volume of water by far... not the Bann.
