    The cost to recover lost items when you die is based on the price it would be if you were to sell an item, so now, if you lose a stack of Life Elixirs, it's half the cost to recover them it used to be.

      That would make sense the reduced price on the life elixir would be a buff for those who died in the dungeons especially the harder ones

      Yes I used the tea sapling method, but no longer and it has taken longer to get to know Caroline. Another thing I used to do was buy large quantities of hardwood fence posts at the Casino but now I can only get 20 at a time. And that has also changed how i fence my farm. I've combined these two and now use tea saplings for fences so I can live with that but Im getting heaps of tea leaves!

    The only thing I’m very displeased about is the bomb (especially the medium sized black one) being way more expensive to buy.
    Reasons of:
    I play on switch only, and as a person who is older and have slower reaction time, even with trying my hardest in the mines to fight off monsters and chip away stones and ores, it is the most challenging thing to do for me. Medium bombs & life elixirs were my personal best strategy. I adore the game very much, but I hope concernedape will someday somehow make it back to at least the original price for bombs. I can also imagine this being harder for beginners or any person like me.
    Now, I have played on pc before, and I do notice the mines and farming is much more forgiving to play than the switch, however with my health condition it prevents me from sitting at the desk for more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time, that’s why switch is my only best choice as I can be on my bed or on comfy chairs for longer. Never knew a game would make me care this much, but this is stardew valley for ya, just can’t get enough.

    • @bipbop3121
      @bipbop3121 8 месяцев назад +5

      You might want to look into getting a pc handheld, like Steam Deck to play PC Stardew Valley, with mods, etc. A handheld pc is much easier to grab and play, but you can keyboard and mouse with a laptop on a bed desk. I find mousing on thigh more ergonomic, than on the desk. I prefer trackball, but I busted mine, so using the mouse. Or those tables with one leg to the floor that you can height adjust to use in bed, even easier. swing over, when you want to do things in bed, swing back, when you don't). You could use this with either your pc or laptop.
      Or if you have a tv\monitor in your bedroom, you hook up a pc and bluetooth keyboard and mouse, from bed (couch). Whether you prefer to rest the keyboard and mouse on a board, or just you and the bed, is up to you.

    I'm a little sad about the tea sapling nerf, but it's understandable. It IS a farming sim. It won't change how I play much, it'll still be a little help in the early days. The decorator in me is crying though over the prices of the extra rooms!! Makes me hesitant to start a new playthrough even though I want to try it all fresh!

    • @lapniappe
      @lapniappe 8 месяцев назад +2

      well how it was. [before] is that it was a cozy life sim. you didn't have to farm (if you didn't want to). you could just fish (I've seen people not even do farming runs - just live off fish/fish farms). if you wanted to do an animal only run you could do that. to me the tea sapling aided you in just being a bit more free in WHAT you decided to do. but now with that change (and it doesn't really seem that the cost of MAKING a sapling has changed) it FORCES you really to just do farming to get that super influx of money right off the bat. as i've said the other things kinda made sense, the glitches etc, but nerfing prices always bothered me. if people truly wanted to have a "tough" time making money there's the "reduce cost of items" option. don't force that on me

    • @FearedKamil
      @FearedKamil 8 месяцев назад +2

      This, you actually end up making more money with Tea saplings now than in prior updates funnily enough

    • @Jack_Rakan
      @Jack_Rakan 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@FearedKamil If you look at just the money from the Tea itself, then technically yes, but practically taking into account WHEN that money comes, then no.
      Looking at the best case scenario of turning the leaves into pickles, you get 1300 gold if you pickle 7 tea leaves and sell them for 150g each then pick up the bush and sell it for 250. This is reduced to 950g if you use Kegs instead because of the processing speed. However, this 1300/950 gold comes at the end of Summer.
      Before the update you could, with a bit of luck from daily tasks, get Caroline to 2 hearts and get the recipe before the Egg Festival. Meaning each Tea Sapling could pay for 5 Strawberry seeds, that when planted would give you two strawberries by the end of spring. That is 1200g a whole month earlier, AND this is assuming no extra strawberry drop, everything common quality, and no processing.
      Even assuming you didn't get lucky with Caroline quests, you could still get her to 2 Hearts guaranteed by the 16th, meaning each Tea Sapling could become 6 Cauliflowers. This would give you 1050 gold by the end of Spring, again assuming common quality and no processing. And ignoring the possibility of a giant crop.
      This showcases the REAL reason Tea Saplings were overpowered, and how the change is a massive nerf: 500g in the middle of the first Spring are infinitely more valuable than 1300g at the start of Fall, because they can be reinvested early enough to generate a lot more profit over time.

    Now with the bomb nerfs, for players who use bombs it would be interesting to see if there is a shift in farming for radioactive bars rather than iridium bars from skull cavern runs.
    If you can get high amounts like 800+ iridium I'd imagine it'd still be worth it. Explosive ammo w the master slingshot is going to be significantly better now too.

    • @agostonkosztolanyi3339
      @agostonkosztolanyi3339 8 месяцев назад

      IMO explosive ammo was better at anyways because it was faster, in my most recent skull cavern run I got around 1,500 iridium ore (which is much less than people far more expirenced) and I only used a handful of bombs and megabombs (maybe like 10 altogether), the main factor I think is how quickly you can reach level 100 and how quickly you can move down floors afterwards which is why staircases are so op and tbf the bombs I used I either crafted or found in skull cavern not to mention how much you can now get from the mystery boxes.

      @mycraftdiaryy 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Noa-g1ex it’s a trade off I guess, I rather spend money to buy resources then to grind them, because it’s going to take time in the game to do it. Whereas there’s usually a steady income source for money after some time. I do occasionally bankrupt myself by accident buying resources but nothing really debilitating since I’ll earn some back when I sleep. I may just skip using bombs altogether actually unless I’m farming for mats, it wasn’t something I could properly integrate into my play style because I still get stingy about using them anyway. Also much more satisfying to equip napalm ring and have things explode while you kill enemies.

This makes the Life Elixir significantly easier to produce in mass quantities. Yes, you technically were always selling them at a loss, but with the changes and the right build, you can make a ton of money from them. Tea saplings weren't worth that much when compared to the selling price of the components: In spring, wild horseradish, daffodils, leeks, and dandelions, plus the fiber and wood, in quantities to make a tea sapling, sold for 375. Summer the components sold for 435. Fall, the components sold for 475. In the winter, tea saplings weren't worth making - components sold for 775! Before the price change, tea saplings were worth it (to varying degrees), but definitely not any more. (All assuming base quality and no profession buffs)

    Part of the price change reasons is to allow deviation from a "Meta" strategy
    Forcing everyone to befriend Caroline to play "Optimally" so that you make thousands of gold for Strawberries early on
    The bomb price change was especially good imo, making it worthwhile to buy them in year 2 from the dwarf, or spend the extra time to go to Clint's instead and have to craft them, also additionally adding a level requirement, or optionally if doing skull cavern runs using the resources from the run itself to extend it instead of being pre-stacked with hundreds of bombs to spam everywhere since your main goal is iridium anyways
    Also, the life elixir change wasn't for selling for profit, what it was was hoarding them from the mines, since Iridium Bats have a high frequency of dropping life elixirs, so you could hoard them and basically have thousands of gold to immediately help set back the cost on your bombs and other resources spent on the skull cavern run

    With the Tea Saplings, you can now pick them up even after they’ve produced tea!!! So after they’re done producing in fall, (or you could do it each season), you can sell the tea itself, AND pick up the saplings to sell as well 🔥🔥🔥

I don't really buy anything from the hat mouse or the dwarf, Nor do I really ever visit the arcade in the desert that often & I've never brought warp totem's from the arcade before. Fairy dust I've never bothered with, I actually completely forgot about it lol. Same thing with Life Elixir, not forgotten about just never really used it. & the tea saplings, never bothered to use it as a way to make money.

    i wanted to mention 3 separate things about the update that some people may not know yet, which i find really interesting about the game:
    1. After retrieving Mayor Lewis’ “shorts” from Marnies room & giving them to lewis, you can now craft a staircase, go into mayor lewis’ bedroom in his home & it will take you to his basement where you can find the purple shorts again by figuring out a maze of mess. All you have to do is get out of the maze alive after you’ve found them because the shorts will attack you lol. so now you have the option to either prank lewis by wearing them (by tailoring them with a gold bar) or putting them in the pot luck or the fair display.
    2. Drop an ancient doll into the lava of level 100 in the mines. something will come out of the lava & give you an item. take this item to the wizards basement, & beside the place where you can change your appearance, there’s a spot you can reveal the item to & a cat will appear giving you a new sword.
    3. You can now buy mannequins at Sandy’s shop in Calico Desert. These mannequins move on their own & change their style of clothes with you.
    I hope a vid gets made about this because more people deserve to know!

    • @bipbop3121

    I’m not happy about the tea sapling price; that was such a good way to make money early game; I was shocked the first time I went to buy bombs and saw the big change in price. Higher prices to purchase things and more expensive to buy others, it’s going to make the game harder; that may be the reason behind the changes 🤷‍♀️

    Your math about the buying the ores from clint being cheaper is way off, the dwarf sells them for 1000g, and clint sells iron ores for 250g each, same for coal. 5x250 is 1250, and additional 250g spent.
