My elementary had to go into lockdown because a man with a gun being chased by police ran into school premises. This was around when the Virginia Tech shooting happened.
In High school, we had 2 bomb threats and 1 school shooting rumor so bad half of school was picked up by thier parents before the day ended. It was a ghost town. The News cast mentions how they were especially moved by the scene at the end of the video, with the girl on the phone telling her Mom she loves her, and preparing to either live, or the worse possibility, which is not making it through that. And this is why I think kids should be allowed to bring their phones to classes, to not only be able to call for emergency services, but also to contact their loved ones via call or text. They shouldn’t be told to “Keep their phones in their lockers” when phones have saved countless lives before.

As a millennial parent we had the unfortunate state of being where we experience these is a possibility for us a very real one, as students, now we're going to see it from the other end of fear by worrying it may happen to our children who are now entering the school system in the US, and the absolute worst part is we're doing and feeling both of those states of being two different sides of the same coin with the knowledge that in that time frame it took for us to go from children at two adults and are now having to go through it all over again all while knowing that our government was wholly incapable of doing a jack s*** about it in the interim unless of course you're referring to thoughts and prayers and bitching that it's too soon to try to politicize the tragedies

Actually this is true everywhere, not just for shootings, but also in case of fire or earthquake. In high school i always took note of what room i was in,where potential dangers might come from, and had an escape plan ready. It is good practice.

People bully in school and schools don't want to do nothing about it. I teach in school where students carry a strap to make sure their safe and most don't. Interview those folks and families...Celebrities done it. I'm not justifing the reason for carrying a gun as a minor but the smart people know the risk. This happens in public schools every day. Maybe it is just me. But 1) A universal background check which keeps people with a history of mental illness or violent felonies from purchasing a firearm, 2) A hotline which accepts anonymous tips from people afraid to be called a snitch about potential shooters that will be turned into local law enforcement right away, and 3) A three-level school security plan involving a) Level 1 - A security gate, b) Level 2 - Armed security guards, and c) Level 3 - Teachers possessing concealed carry weapons permits and concealed firearms who passed a course concerning outside shooting and act as the last line of defense for school faculty and students should a violent shooter get past Levels 1 and 2 would solve the problem of the school shootings way better than violating the Second Amendment rights of responsible, law-abiding, American citizens. D'uh! :)

ldkusa71 that sounds like a lot of money. Public school budgets are being gutted and armed security guards are expensive. Maybe that money could be put into the schools. Lets hire more teachers so there can be more one on one time between students and faculty. I'm more for proactive prevention, that additional interaction could easily make it so a kid won't feel all margianalized and become a shooter. I'm not going to say duh at the end like you did.

So your solution is turning schools into max security prisons?? Because that is exactly what you just described and I'd rather homeschool any child I'd have than send them there and normalize that.

I think that guns should still be ok to own but the government should make it that in order to own a gun your kid must be at the legal age and own a gun license, so everyone knows how to use a gun and what they’re meant for.

Shed light on reality Of after watching that Back to school commercial Why would anyone send their kids Back to school , Why would the kid want to go back to school after seeing that.
They never advertised the bulletproof shield you could place in your kids back pack.
1st time I heard of Bulletproof shield for backpacks it Was a mother on her RUclips channel.
All the Schools due is lock down trapping your kids inside the building .
In the Sandy Hook Promise video, they show kids Going ham trying to escape the building.
    2 separate realities.
In all reality that commercial is fear mungerine.
Did they promise to glorify Violence Or safety.
This isn't promising safety that's for sure.
I don't see them advertising prevention Of Violence toward students of any kind In that ad.
    It's a horror ad.
What do kids think of this ad?
Still feel like going back to school.
It's not advertising safety it's advertising violence.

During that time all kinds of things were practiced.
Now when people are trying to Move away from the new normal to Go back to the old normal Chaos has hit the schools .
Commercials like these are being made .
Discouraging the idea of opening the schools Again.

The people that made this killing promotion must have real sick minds.
This is one reason why there is so much killing in the world. It’s being promoted in television, news, movies, games and foolish individuals that in their ignorance, believe this is correct but in reality they are promoting it.
This are sad times when people are using our children to promote their garbage.
