Action Stations! - BBC Local Radio

Two short films from the BBC Local Radio Publicity Unit.
The first dates from 1981 and features BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Medway, Sheffield, Humberside, Nottingham, Carlisle, Bristol, Leicester, Leeds and London. Narrated by John Saunders. Directed by Patricia Owtram.
The second shorter film dates from 1980 and features Radio Taunton, Medway, Leicester, Solent, Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield and the work of the Local Radio Parliamentary Unit. There are no credits but the narrator sounds like Laurie Mayer and the director is probably Patricia Owtram.

This puts my life in perspective. I know the 1981 of my memories looked and sounded like this but it looks so very old when I'm confronted with it on film.

When did the standard BBC logos displayed disappear. By the way a great insight into how events and news reports were produced back then. Thanks for uploading

We were using our own logos from around 1981 onwards

Goodness - what a far cry from the content those very same stations are producing today.
Gone is a great deal of that community input - and more is the pity.
