My interpretation of this is, people decide that having a more "quality" dog, AKA, big cute eyes, and stubby legs is more important than having a happy & healthy dog. All the "low tier" dogs get thrown away in order to make the ideal dog breed. I personally don't like bred dogs because there are dogs out there who are in desperate need of adoption. Breeded dogs get manufactured with the sole purpose of being sold. PS/Edit: If you ever plan on getting a dog or any pet in general, do your research. :P

Am I the only one who looked at this game and immediately thought of puppy mills? It makes perfect sense the dogs are kept in terrible conditions and the bodies pile up fast because the owners care more about the money and making the dogs cuter so they can make more of a profit. They don’t care about the less cute dogs dying

I think the different levels are the different ways? they are bred. I have heard before that pugs have been bred to the point they are much sicker? than they used to be because people wanted the stubby legs, big eyes and flat face. I think that's what this game is referring to.

It’s just that pugs have the most advanced issues right now, they can’t breathe properly, they get sick very often, they are prone to health defects and just struggle in general with life because they can’t live like that

Bijuu, The message you interpreted for this game is true in real life, But the game was aiming for this instead: Most Dog Breeders will just care about making dogs cuter and cuter and cuter without any concerns for health, Just concern for money. That's why higher level dogs are slower, get hungry and sick more often.

Also at some point the overbred dogs aren’t cute anymore, which is why level seven looks the way it does

This traumatized me more than when I saw a bunch of turtles eating a dead duck. But I totally agree, the amount of times I walk into a shelter and see that more than half the animals are ones with missing eyes, legs or older ones or mutts, it makes me sad no matter how many times I see it
