- Ethan Katz and Savannah Roberts have much to celebrate. It’s not only Father’s Day weekend and Ethan’s birthday weekend, but also the couple’s anniversary. Savannah recently gave birth to their twin sons, now 6 weeks old. Family friend Nicole Virzi traveled from San Diego to Pittsburgh to visit and lend a helping hand. While caring for the twin boys, Ari and Leon, Nicole Virzi tells the parents she noticed unusual injuries on Ari’s genitals.
The new parents take Ari to the hospital, leaving their other son, Leon Katz, in Virzi’s care. Four hours later, Ethan Katz and Savannah Roberts receive a call from Nicole Virzi. She says that while she was in the kitchen preparing a bottle for Leon, the baby fell from his bouncer seat and hit his head. Rushed to the hospital, doctors discover Leon Katz has a severe skull fracture on the left side of his head and multiple brain bleeds. The injuries suffered by the 6-week-old baby prove fatal, and he is pronounced dead the next morning at Children’s Hospital.
Police say Virzi has no “plausible explanation” for the severity of Leon’s injuries. Upon examining the bouncer seat, detectives report that it is about 18 inches from the highest point of the seat to the floor. The doctor who examined the injuries to both boys states they are consistent with child abuse, noting that these injuries were inflicted and not accidental. All of Leon’s injuries are described as “acute."

Do not let your children stay with anyone. When I was 5 yrs old my cousin which was only 3 years older than me, Molested me and it went on for years. I’m telling this story to let everyone know, do not leave your children with Anyone, even other kids. My Children never stayed with anyone.

This happens so much, way more than ppl realize. It isn't talked about or put in the spotlight near enuff. A lot of sexual abuse to younger children , is done by a friend or relative that is older than them. Some only a year or two older! I'm sorry this happened to you! There needs to be more awareness on this subject for sure !

When I was young everyone trusted me with their babies to babysit but NEVER my older sister. I thought I could babysit 5 3yr olds. OMG I shouldve had someone to warn me what a nightmare for a 15yr old. Moms otherwise would only trust me with their kiddies so I was a busy babysitter. So I disagree & dont know why mom's trusted me except for how I cared for my twin younger sisters? Heard of others getting drunk while babysitting with bf etc. So I understand where ur coming from yet moms need to work. 🥺🤔
That's honestly not realistic. We all have people in our village that we trust. This wasn't predictable.
I used to babysit toddlers and newborns in my neighbourhood when I was aged 14 to 16. My mother told me never to shake a baby and to be patient and I never ever hit a child or shook a child. How is it that parents and family friends who are adults cannot grasp this basic concept! Treat babies with love and respect and walk away when they cry to give yourself a break and come back calm. Attend to their needs as if your life depeds on it!

This is why my husband and I made a decision that I will stay home with our children. No babysitters we took our children every where! They did not ask to be here and it is our responsibility to keep them safe. TRUST NO ONE WITH YOUR CHILDREN 😼

I’m a retired mental health Therapist and I can’t tell you how many Psychiatrist and Psychologist children I’ve seen over the years. Some of these children end up being so scary, just like this woman. This woman is highly disturbed in personality and dangerous and needs to stay behind bars for life. I’m told she had prior assault charges. RIP poor baby and I’m sorry little surviving baby. Prayers to their parents. Heartbreaking

Same when it comes to people who work with children...I met so many people during my education who had deep mental health issues and tried to work with children because they tried to make things better than their own parents

Oh, one more thing, when she gets riled up and tells a guest to slow down, I think it’s only because she’s trying to drag the interview out. I am a nanny and baby nurse. Check references, don't just take someone's word for it. Get a nanny cam, or even better put small cameras in all rooms.
I've always thought & I still think this: Put nanny cams everywhere in the house, Except bathroom, dressing area, & adult or teen beds, but TELL a babysitter or nanny that the cams are around & just don't say where they are. Just say they're not in the bathroom or changing area or over the adult & teen beds. It should be required to tell a babysitter or nanny if cameras are around for the sake of human dignity & human rights, but especially remember that telling a caretaker that cameras are present can actually *Prevent* harm to a child in the 1st place.
It’s illegal! Huge fines. If you haven’t done your background and reference checks properly, stay home. Give Nannie’s some dignity, value the work they do or do it yourself.
Never take a sleeping baby into care, he/she could be drugged (-> possible neurological damage or even death -> demands).
The body of the child should be examined in case of fresh abuse signs (not in a way that is scary to the child).

This woman's eyes have that disconnected look of something wrong there. Maybe these kinds of things happened to her. In any case, she belongs in jail for the rest of her life! Those poor babies, so helpless and innocent, now one is dead, and the other whose life won't ever be the same!

I loved being a nanny and toddler teacher. Babysitting was such an honor to have parents’ trust caring for their favorite people ever ❤️ I’m pregnant now and feel too scared to give that trust to someone and it’s so sad! Love to this family, it’s incomprehensible how painful this story is.

I made my daughter go to a class on how to care for babies. She got certified and even then when she baby sat I supervised. I am a nurse I would not entrust many people with a newborn.

My daughter fell of the dryer when she was 6 months old she was in a bouncy seat I just set her there while I got the laundry. Well I flipped out and rushed her to the E.R and she was fine! She is now a 24 year old young woman and get this…..she’s a E.R NURSE😆! She is a new R.N. and works is the red pods! Yea, she’s that good🥰! I’m a proud momma❤️❤️❤️! Not everyone is that fortunate. Some people don’t have a choice, and only have friends and/or daycare care for their kids. Whether it be not having family, not having them close enough, or having family whom simply won’t do it.

Well I can say the fontanelle is not where the hair curls in the back of the head. Everyone knows it’s the soft spot right at the top. It is often found by the softness and you can also see the baby’s heartbeat in that soft area. It’s at the very top of the head not at the back where the hair swirls together

I’m the mother of 33 year old twin girls. I’m not blaming the parents, but I never left my girls with ONE person. I was alone most of the time while the girls were babies (husband worked his a- off), but they were my children and I got used to the schedule. My parents or my sister and mother would babysit when I needed help. Having any one person fill in for the parents without having any experience with twins is a recipe for disaster! My heart breaks for these devastated parents!!

My son calls pop pop 23 years in the Air Force five children one first girl, and then two sets of twins now was grandbaby girls in the Marines, never drink a glass of alcohol in his life, except cheers his wife his wedding this weekend he celebrating with his family, the third year of his wife, dying of breast cancer, he drives my son to school. He drives me to doctors appointments. He is a true family man and I think God brought him in my life and it is so awesome when you can find somebody you can trust.

I'm a muma of twins. Never dropped them, never had any injuries at all. The same for any of my 5 children, no injures what so ever. Now I'm a grandma of 4, no injurys to any of them. Its not hard to keep children safe, not hard at all.

She noticed the first during the nappy change, the parents went to the hospital, and then she noticed the other was unconscious (maybe she was told he had had a fall from the bouncy chair earlier?) and then she called the parents again. even if that didn't happen, it is a plausible defense...
