i've never heard of an explanation for why the pros from all around the world have this speech pattern. my theory is that all the international players learned english from one person (patient zero).

but okay, why would they all happen to learn from one person? i think they learned english/mannerisms from watching other pros, and it spread like a disease, but okay i concede there are other possibilities. i think my idea is slightly better here because if takes takes takes takes takes, then takes takes takes. but okay then you can take take take, but if i take take, then okay take take.

I wonder what “ok, but ok” is in Russian. Maybe they have some phrase they use all the time that translates.

Hahaha so true!! Always noticed this in interviews... so glad you made this video. Spread some awareness lol

The reason for this is that professional chess players are the most contrarian bunch on the planet! That’s how they are trained to think.

Hahaha :) - missing "10x OK" of young Vincent Keymer and all the popular "i think i'm ok here, im ok, i play solid, i am ok" from Hikaru :)

A couple of things I do I'm trying to stop.
    1. I say "actually" too often even tho I'm not British. Sorry Brits! :D
    2. I say "right?" at the end of sentences too often when I ask for verification of something.

Most of the time it is just a "pause" word until you decide what to say next rather than saying nothing for a moment.
