- You can still love what you do and feel burned out. That is certainly the case for me! I absolutely love my job, but I find. myself feeling creatively stuck and burned out. When I get that way (because creative burn out has happened before and it will happen again), I tend to take creativity back to the basics. In this video, I am chatting about what burnout feels like and some of the simple tasks I do to try to overcome a creative rut.

When I get a creative block I change to another craft or read. Reading is very calming (most of the time, unless it's a great thriller). ⚾️
Yes, I agree - I've been enjoying reading more recently.
I love the colour treasure hunt idea, not that I travel but just to do at home with my stash. Finding the acrylic paints is the first step though...that might not be easy.
Thank you for sharing, most of us hit a wall from time to time, sometimes rest is what is needed. If I am in a rut, I color something that appeals to my childish side (last time was tweety bird), fussy tear it out and mount it on a simple acrylic painted background. By the time the matte medium is dry, I am out of the rut and dragging out supplies. If I am in a funk, I declutter and organize, handling all the supplies gets me jump started again.
Decluttering and organizing is one of my other go-to techniques to break out of a rut.
I tend to get a bunch of ideas at once then forget them when I sit down to create! I’ve started to jot down the ideas in a notebook as soon as they pop into my head. This helps me with creative block.
That is a great method to follow!
What helps most of the time to get out of a creative rut is just doing something sort of like you did here in this video. I am a scrapbooker, card maker, and art journaler. I concentrate on doing backgrounds that can be cut up or used in whatever way I want. That has helped in the past. I will be doing that on Saturday, so I will have to see if it still works.
I agree - that has worked for me in the past as well.
I’ve also been in a rut!! This looks fun and easy to get back to the groove.
Sometimes it just helps to just put some paint on the page.
Maybe a photo a day. And then add diffrent embellishments and quotes that go with the photo and a quick journaling to write about the photo . Not sure how many pages are in it but you could do a whole month in one book if there is enough pages.
That is a fun idea!
❤
