We just unboxed the new STIHL MS 162 chainsaw, so now it's time to see what it can do!
STIHL released this chainsaw to replace the MS 170 and we've already noticed that it is quieter and more comfortable to run, plus we're big fans of its handy return to run switch.

Can’t wait to add this one to the collection! Thanks for the demo
Hope you enjoy it!
Nice saw !
It really does seem like a nice little saw.
Hi, is there a sharpening video for this, i just purchased one buy i cannot find what sharpener to use on this model. Thanks
Not yet!
You need a 5/32 file.
@@carlsmowerandsaw Many thanks, just want to get one for when i will need it, buying PPE etc.now so thought i would get all i need. I appreciate the help and the videos. :]
It has several improvements over the 170. The air filter is framed and not just a piece of filter like the 170. The chain tensioner is on the side instead of against the bar like the 170. Vibration is lowered as well. It's a lot of saw for under $200.
Some nice upgrades.
its also less horsepower and more weight than the 170. id rather have more power cutting wood. could care less about the appearance features and eco crap. 162 is a downgrade
@@jonnysnipes3123100% agree, I've used the 162 a couple of times now and it's so weak, bogs down constantly has no power whatsoever!! The equivalent husky destroys it!
Can't see a 162 lasting a year of moderate use! Here in the UK it's £50 less that the 170 so its obviously a piece of Chinesium.

@@davt8615 those 170s were the last generation of cheap solid quality tools. now stihls low end model saws have become the route that homelite ryobi and poulan had gone. pile of junk
@@jonnysnipes3123 nothing is built to last these days mate it's all plastic crap built as cheap as possible. I still have my 170 good little saw, thankfully parts are cheap enough for em
Is it a hard-nose bar?
Nope roller tip
The 170 is a way better saw
Time may tell. I have countless hours on the 170 but did see some great improvements on the 162.
Isn’t using a chainsaw with your left hand on the throttle considered a safety hazard?
There would definitely be arguments in your favor, but if you are not very coordinated with your right hand, what do you think it’s safer?
Personally, I think it is far safer to use a chainsaw as it is designed. It puts the bar and chain on the far side of the power head, away form your body.
I think using the saw as it is designed is safer.
The manual specifically states “…left hand on the front handle and right hand on the rear handle. Left-handers must follow these instructions too.”
@@briannv9900 Thanks
@@briannv9900Don’t be one of those annoying RUclips safety nazis! This dude obviously knows what he’s doing and he went through the trouble of posting a video for us. If every left handed person cut their hand off when using a chainsaw, I’m sure we’d know about it m
Slabo je to ..A puno novaca...
For the $200 it’s actually an awesome little saw. I’d prefer it with a 14” bar
