Ok, my heart skip a beat when they talked about Sayo being transgender. Just let me say that I'm trans, so I'd be really happy to see a trans character in a series that I like so much! Please Ryukishi!
Biatris Souza I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sayo is a character I think that exhibits alot of the same struggles Trans people sometimes face, even if her circumstances are far different and more extreme then most people.
Sergio Armani It was less a rumor and more he refused to answer on the grounds that he wanted to retain some mystery to Umineko. He also said that it was a complicated issue. If it was simply the case that it was a rumor, as Rosetrice was, he would have said so just as he did on that particular fan theory. At this point, Yasu's sex (not gender) is held by most in the fandom to be male. I hold to that given how Yasu reacts to not getting her period in Confession. If it was simply a case of her body being mangled so much angst wouldn't have been centered on her body's complete lack of feminine features. In fact, we see her nearly bare chest at one point, and see that she has no sign of any sort of chest in the least. Combined with just lacking in curves her body was, it makes much more sense that she was born male then simply a damaged women. Otherwise, why bother noting that she was "raised as a girl?" If she were biologically female that wouldn't be a statement that even needs to be made.
@@thenanh4006 It's a matter of settling a huge, controversial point of contention within the fandom. To attribute Sayo's problems to her being trans would be to belittle and demean everything she went through-and also to ignore the actual definition of transgender. If someone views themselves as the gender opposite that which they were assigned at birth, yes, that does constitute being transgender, but in many such cases there is a degree of dysphoria. Sayo never experienced that dysphoria until she found that she wasn't experiencing female puberty. To her (until then), and to those around her, she _was_ a girl in a girl's body. Sayo's issues and subsequent breakdown didn't come as a result of gender dysphoria alone; they came as a result of finding out the circumstances of her birth, her relation to Kinzo, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, her crush on Battler falling apart as a result of George hiding Battler's letter. This, after all, is the majority of what prompted her to scheme and plot her family's massacre by writing EP1 and EP2. But honestly, in the end... Sayo isn't a real person. She's a fictional character, and just because something is written in a certain way (e.g., writing a character who is an awful person, like Kinzo) doesn't mean that it's written poorly. You can enjoy Sayo's situation on account of it lending to her character a level of depth and tragedy that simply wouldn't be possible otherwise. Chloe Shand Such unnecessary rage. I simply said that I'd be happy to see more trans characters, especially in series that I like.

You being happy about Sayo's situation makes me sick.
