I love her voice for this very reason! I have an aunt in law from Manhattan who talks like her so I thought she was from BK for the longest time because she sounds like Kim with the lisp and softness to her voice. Gotta be a New York thing in general with some of the girls

It’s well known that rapper Foxy Brown is Trinidadian, I have never heard anything about Kim being Trini. Personally having family in Brooklyn myself, the Jamaican influence is HUGE in NYC's biggest borough. The very act of flashing your lighter is straight out of dancehall culture. With Biggie, who was of Jamaican heritage, having been a huge influence on Kim, she would know many of those cultural symbols and signs. There is no such thing as a pure Brooklyn anything in a borough in a city like NYC, where half of the population is foreign born. This is why Kim also flips Spanish in her song. It’s why she salutes Puerto Rico and Kingston, Jamaica. She’s showing cultural fluency. Aiight!
