Doesn't matter how Rich you are. You have to have lived abroad for a certain period and owned the car for a specified fraction of that time (around 1 year) then you can bring it over if its rhd, and after having paid exorbitant customs releasing fees and other taxes bringing your cost up dramatically. After all that, when you've spent nearly 10 million rupees, you can't drive it legally if it hasn't been homologated by the ARAI which will cost you another 2 crores and 6 months at the very least. My uncle brought in a power wagon in 2001 by "negotiating" its release with the customs agent. Even then, he brought it in in parts without the engine (we used a Tata 407 diesel engine because of the parts availability). All of that and he rarely drives it off the farm. Its a solid method though. I'll he doing the same thing soon with a Honda cx500 that I bought.
