The ice-skating ring is old school part of Portland where everyone that grew up and went to while growing up I been living in Portland since 1991 I would hate to see that go if it is possible to rebuild the skating ring and develop around it im sure Oregonians would love that

Lloyd Center was an international showpiece in the 1960s and a model for what malls would become worldwide.

model for what malls would become? you mean abandoned? or did you mean a blue shithole?

The comic book store that moved there can't seem to catch a break. Move out of Old Town due to crime, not a building that's going to get torn down.

I worked across the stree at bpa back in the late 70's, it was so fun to shop at norstroms on my lunch hour, really loved that mall back in the day

Portland is dying, the crime and filth are out of control. I moved last month after over twenty years.

If the mall didn’t charge so much maybe it still be alive like it was in the 90’a and early 2000’s

As long as the diversity neighborhood patronizes that skating rink AND people from outside the diverse neighborhood feel safe at driving to the rink at night and parking their cars at night and not having their cars prowled. It's up to Portland to develop highly diverse crime-free neighborhoods.

So true, as after new developing they attract more people with vehicles & more crime instead offing a mixed housing where there's infrastructure.

It's sad, but I understand why it must go. I hope they can preserve the ice rink and at least part of the mall, instead of just laying waste to the whole thing and replacing it with more boxy eyesore apartments.

I grew up in san Diego and the malls here are ok mostly. I miss the old arcades that dont exist anymore. Im 50 now and its not the malls that get me going but its our life span that is decreasing now. People are saying average life is 73 for men and 79 for women so according to this ill be dead in 23 years.

Instead of tearing it down, why not address the underlying issues of why it failed. (Crime, theft etc.)

Would be nice to see something to bring more people to the area. The surround area is like a weird deserted mini downtown with not much to walk to or do. Malls have had their time.

Those tend to be done in out of sight out of mind areas, in perfect locations they bring the rich that attract crimes, sad.

Please don't make more 500 sq ft studio apartments for $2,000+, yet another Whole Foods, and doggie day cares. That mindset doesn't work for Portland while people are stepping over needles and tents. Without the stale political talk, it was such a thriving city. The mall was so much fun too. Will it ever be the same again?
