  • Each year for the last 8 years, Sony Hosts a trip called Kando in which they invite creatives from all aspects of the visually literate industry. It started as an annual meeting of Sony Artisans and Collective plus you-tubers and experts on IG but it has grown since then. Visual creatives from all walks of life are invited and we gather at a different location each year to take classes, eat wonderful regional food, share adult beverages (lost on me), and explore new products and try new things. Mostly though, Kando is all about the "Colab," or, collaboration between creatives that spawn new experiences and explorations for each of us. Confused? Yeah, that too. Each moment of every day at Kando, you have to figure out what you are going to do next, who you might stretch to talk to, and who you might sit with at the next delicious meal. If you ever get invited, DO NOT HESITATE to accept... If you'd like to see videos and stills made by us at Kando, search for the hashtag, "sonykandotrip." Sit, back, relax and bask and breathe in our second hand smoke :)

We had our 2nd anniversary, Sony Kando Trip ANZ, in August 2024 at Gold Coast Queensland Australia. I am very honoured and privileged to attend Kando ANZ events, an absolutely amazing opportunity to be around all the Sony ambassadors and Sony advocates, RUclipsrs and influences, and creators all in one place. Meeting new and old friends and calbrating with them.
I am looking forward to attending many more to come, Kando Trip ANZ in Australia 🇦🇺.

I was invited as a day player for Thursday to come check it out for the first time. It was pretty insane to meet so many people I've seen on YT and other outlets in person.

I thought this video was more useful than a lens review. Lens reviews are ubiquitous. And rarely does a lens make anyone a better photographer-it just gives them more options. But inspiration and learning does make better photographers, which are what you get a Kando. I’d love a video about something you learned or were inspired by at Kando-or anywhere-and how you implemented in your own work. Thanks for the uncommon video!

Inspiration... Tough commodity sometimes for sure. Thanks for your comments. I think you are on to something here. What makes me motivated to go shoot? Honestly, sometimes it's a new lens or camera, sometimes something I hear on a podcast gets me off the couch to go shoot, mostly it's other shooters' work that inspires me.

@@PMRTV 100% agree that it's mostly other shooters' work that inspires people. That's certainly true for me. Other shooters make creative decisions we have to understand before we can replicate and ultimately incorporate into our own work. When we do that, our work changes and grows. Gear (bodies, lenses, strobes) gives us more options but it makes no creative decisions for us to decipher. It doesn't help us understand why something works. Other shooters do.
