The Mudryk Paradox

Mykhailo Mudryk is a player that splits opinion in this sport. On one end of the spectrum, many think he has what it takes to become a world champion, while on the other, they think he is at the highest level of competition. Mudryk had the entire world at his disposal when he moved to the Premier League, as evidenced by the desperation of Arsenal and Mikkel Arteta to sign him, and De Zebri's declaration that he would win the Ballon d'Or. However, Mudryk's high price tag has placed a great deal of pressure on the young player. This begs the question: was he ever that good to begin with or is he just a product in a failed environment.

Mudryk was signed under unrealistic expectations. Those he replaced and was giving minutes over at the start of his Chelsea run were better players than him. Mudryk never played in a top European league and needed more time to adjust before being used as a key player. Just because you throw large sum of money at someone does not make them a better player. Most footballers had to prove themselves to get the salary Mudryk currently has. Heck, Pulisic (Mudryk’s predecessor) had to prove himself for that #10 while Mudryk was handed it. When you are not allowing a player to fight to get the things they currently have, you are not helping their development.

True, felt like he comes to save Chelsea where in reality in a prefect world he signs with arsenal and learns behind the scenes without half the pressure he’s on now!

I think there a player in him, But that toxic Chelsea environment is affected his confidence, as well as that huge price tag

He's played 991 total mins so far this season. Divided by 90, he has played a total of 11 games minutes wise. He has 4 goals and 4 assists. That's a G/A of 8 in 11 games. That's a healthy return for any player. The kid is in his first year in the EPL, suffered the disappointment of not joining his dream club in Arsenal, left family in a war-torn country, joined a toxic team environment at Chelsea, adjusting to a new country and language, and dealing with the pressures of his price tag. I'm ashamed of gooners criticising Mudryk for supposedly choosing Chelsea, when he was clearly forced by Shakter's President to agree to Chelsea otherwise he had to stay in Ukraine with a war taking place. The player clearly wanted the Arsenal move. It actually saddens me to hear about his desperate cries over the phone with Arsenal at the airport. Childish fans laugh at this, but it must have been so upsetting and tough on him. We forget players are human too. I wish him all the best and hopefully if Chelsea really need to sell players in the summer, Arteta goes in for him again. I see a great player in Mudryk. He just needs the belief and tutelage of a manager like Arteta or De Zerbi to bring the best out of him.

He’s not a kid he needs to man up he’s literally getting paid to play the sport he adores whether the team of his dreams or not he CHOSE to put pen to pad so regardless of his stats he has 1 more good season to prove he’s cable of being ballon dor worthy mudryk is awful so far man and I’m just being honest. Regardless of the team he’d still have to perform so if he went to arsenal he wouldn’t be taking martinelli or smith rowes spot not even eleny 😂

It's Salah all over again. There's talent in him pure as day, doesn't matter what reactionary fans think. You don't go from looking unstoppable at Shakhtar Donetsk to kicking the ball down the wrong end of the pitch due to lack of ability, that's a mental block and/or general team mismatch

Whatever it was. Chelsea was so st*pid. That's it. Aimed to bring down 2 birds with Mudryk, Caicedo and Lavia deals, but all failed.
