The reveal of what actually happened to Donald's sister / Huey, Dewey & Louie's mother after 8 decades and paired with THIS song was one of the most interesting things Disney has ever done with its legacy characters.

Honestly, no profound story or reason, just a song that's incredibly nostalgic. Even for people who never played it, it somehow summons up memories of the good old days. Even worked on you making you think of the Ducktales cartoon! I think it's just one of those classics that even 20 years from now or whatever, it'll still sound nostalgic.
There's a remaster that had I thought about might have snuck onto the list that is a fantastic rendition as well!

DuckTales was one of those few licensed games on the NES that was on par with mainstream games like MegaMan.
Fun fact is this game got a Remaster in 2014 and even got full on voice acting and Disney even got the original voice cast to reprise their roles.
It hit me with so much nostalgia in spite of never having played the og game but loved the hell out of the tv show as a kid.
It was also the last project Alan Young ( the original voice of Scrooge McDuck ) did before he passed away.

About Capcom working with Nintendo, Ace Attorney is Capcom and the entire series launched only on Nintendo handhelds since 2001. Later in 2012-2013 some games got iOS/Android ports, and only in 2019 that these ports/remasters crossed to all the consoles and PC, and other collections were created, but they're still all games that were once exclusive to Nintendo handhelds.

If you liked this version, the game got a graphical remaster (remake?) with the OG cast reprising their roles for new VO work in the cutscenes in game. The remastered track is worth a listen along with the OST as a whole tbh.

The NES era might be a little older than a lot of people remember, but it was a time when licensed games were generally good and popular, and ducktales was generically good enough that most people that had an NES had it as weird as that seems.
I was old enough to have an NES growing up, but wasnt old enough to .... ask about specific games? i was just getting what i was handed, so i got mario brothers 1 2 and 3 and tetris, sure. but i had ducktales and tmnt too because i was a kid and you were just given them.
youre 100% on the moon, its just one of the levels that you can pick
If you ever hear about a "pogo" mechanic in a videogame, its broadly popularized by this game. It was in zelda 2, hollow knight and shovel knight for example, which is fun little bit of trivia

Regarding Capcom's connections with Nintendo: Capcom, primarily via a subsidiary named Flagship, was actually involved with 4 different Zelda games (Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Minish Cap and the GBA port of A Link to the Past) and 2 different Kirby games (Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad).
Capcom also released a quite a few Nintendo exclusive Resident Evil games over the years, though most of them were eventually ported to other systems. One of them was Resident Evil 4, which was part of a group of (at the time) Gamecube exclusive games known as the Capcom Five, in an effort to help Nintendo's struggling console.

I didn't experience the game myself, though I may have seen pictures in magazines or whatever... But yeah, I didn't have an NES myself, only one of my friends that I hung out with did, and they didn't have it... However, I've always loved game music and as soon as the internet became easily accessible to me and such, I remember this being popular... Looking up remixes and covers, this would often come up... Although the main reason I might remember it could be the Brentalfloss version where he added silly lyrics ^_^; It's pretty catchy regardless though... By the way, I believe they remade this game not too long ago... They got a bunch of the cast from the original show to do voice acting for it and everything... There was some slightly annoying aspects like cutscenes not in the original (or they happened in the background before), which would interrupt the gameplay, but otherwise I think it was pretty cool... They may have even patched it to make it better, I forget... If it's still available and you like platformers or even just the original show, you might enjoy it... I think the moon is the final stage or something... Oh and yeah, I believe it has this tune in the remake too, so that should exist too if you're interested.
Capcom was on multiple platforms... At the time of the NES, they did a bunch on it, but that's probably because it was the big platform of the time... I think they did a few Disney games too, unless I'm remembering incorrectly... I think they tended not to port a lot of games so much back in the day, unless they were really big games... Working on one console could be a lot easier... Of course, big stuff like Street Fighter often ended up on everything...
NES has so many games with cool music, but I think sadly they're unlikely to get many requests for various reasons, at least not until the more modern stuff runs dry, which is unlikely... They tend to be short tracks, the limitations mean the sound quality isn't great and, while amazing for what they are, in many ways they are overshadowed by more modern VGM stuff... That handicaps 8-bit music in this reaction setting a lot... If you were more open to remixes/covers, I expect you'd get more requests for music from that era... But otherwise, you're likely only going to get the few very influential or most amazing pieces... And if there's a remake, they might request that version instead too... And there's recency bias in general too... I'm not too surprised you haven't gotten many NES requests... Maybe if you really want that kind of thing it'd be worth doing a themed month or whatever and asking specifically for 8-bit requests? Similar to the other videos based on themes you are currently making... I dunno...

    Legendary track.
This song has always sounded like an ending theme to me, not a stage theme.

On the NES era: a lot of music is forgotten for a reason. Making good, memorable music on the NES hardware required a very specific skillset *and* had to be done under a lot of time pressure, since a lot of NES games had a concept-to-cartridge development cycle measured in months. There are, obviously, some NES games with very memorable music: the Mario series, the Mega Man series, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, the Ninja Gaiden series... but the average ratio of "games with good soundtracks" to "games" is much lower on the NES than it was on the SNES, since the latter was capable of much richer sounds that needed less imagination to compose with.
By contrast, the N64 era had less personality. As I understand it, N64 was capable of wavetable MIDI synthesis, with the wavetable samples stored in the cartridge ROM and thus customizable for each game. That meant that composers no longer had to limit themselves to what the medium could do, and that made "video game music" less distinct and memorable as a category. (Still had some bangers, of course.)

this song is so good that it sounds like a top-shelf credits theme, but instead was just a single stage theme. it's just so damn good, and brentalfloss ruined it for me forever because the lyrics pop into my head whenever I hear the original track
the Gametal remix of the ducktales:remastered version is super super good, check it out if you haven't.

Well I could've told you why there's not that many NES songs being requested, the amount of Music made for the NES that's longer than 20 to 50 seconds is VERY RARE.
I'm pretty sure you mentioned a long time ago that you'd preferred longer songs so, there goes 99% of the NES's library. And one more thing, being that these songs are so short...usually the first 3 to 15 seconds are the main attraction, everything else is basically part of the "loop" there are some exceptions, but again, barely ever happens.

Too bad nobody told you that there's a modern rendition of the theme by Vert (Jake Kaufman) for the appropriately named "DuckTales Remastered", would've loved to hear what you think about it. =D
Oh, and they also incorporated it into a modern DuckTales series, as an emotional piece! =)
Hiroshige Tonomura composed for the original NES DuckTales.
