Copy your important data to the SSD, if you have huge data then borrow any external HDD from friends and make a backup. You can put some data on Google drive or One drive too. You can put some data on your smartphone if there is some storage left 😅

Because there's some laptops that doesn't have sata 3 port in CD reader so the SSD read and write will be reduced then you will lose a lots of performance from your SSD that's why you must insert the SSD into your motherboard I hope you understand now ❤
No you can't eject it any more, the eject system was in the DVD writer. All you can do you can unscrew the HDD from Caddy to use it in any other place.
The best and the freshest way is to install ssd first, install fresh windows in it. Now copy the hdd files anywhere as backup, then format the hdd. Now you can copy back data to hdd. This process makes your data risk free.

The process you followed is exactly what I want to do. But the only difference is I don't want to format the hdd. Is there any way to do so???

What lap top is that?? If it has a battery open it up and disconnect it before proceeding I guess
battery still has a connector that can be removed from the motherboard, which is recommended when doing anything electrical
