- Finally video with our big CNC milling machine! We had also pretty large part with almost 3 meter long cut.
Sandvik Machining youtube channel / sandvikcoromant
Big thanks for Sandvik for helping with the Machining tools! They have also their own RUclips Channel where they have lot of Machining videos ruclips.net/user/sandvikcoromant
That's a dam fine van, just fix it. Having my own fun with a bosch pump on my vw right now. Second try at the seal just today. 200k on it, and another 350k to a full overhaul. You will never beat the mpg with anything available right now. Get a dongle from china to reset the computer ~35usd. I wish they had sold those here
Personally I'd also fix the transporter (or pay someone to fix it and go through the ball ache of fault finding on it), may be go as far as getting the engine reconditioned and a slightly bigger turbo, and a fuel map chip so it feels fun again. Be a lot cheaper than buying another car.
A Sorrento is a good choice though, my gf has one for work, they're reliable, comfortable, not too slow, and the build quality is pretty good. (A bit boring though ;) )
The injector pump could also leak fuel into the oil as well. Its actually a common issue on some diesels and is a not so hard fix.
Get them to send you some good button cutters ;)
I live in Sandviken, and work similar jobs, with their tools to.
Hopefuly you are inspiring future machinists with your great videos. The trade needs to be promoted more. Machines cannot make other machines, people make machines!
doktor mobios it won't be too long until they can for the most part.
Artificial intelligence is just what the name implies, "artificial".
doktor mobios you've never seen the Terminator, have you?
The Terminator movie portrayed a machine that was anthropomorphic. It is purely fiction.
HPC and this channel give me hope. It shows that a lot of people who make things for a living are smart and funny. We aren't the slow-witted ignorant grunts that the snobs out there imagine, and our jobs are for more fulfilling than sitting comfortably in an office all day getting obese.
That machine is an absolute beast. And the fact that it has a rotary axis is pretty nice.
A product placement I can get behind. Sandvik tools and bits are tops. I lost half a bonus one quarter when I was a machinist because I failed to zero my lathe properly and I snapped an $800.00 Sandvik boring bar. Last time I did that.
One of our customers had also pretty expensive accident lately. They borrowed our 150 mm 3-point micrometer and then the guy who was operating milling machine forgot that inside of the work piece and collided against it with milling head :D
The tool from Sandvik looks like a mini version of those huge tunnel boring machines. Very cool.
A meeting in Germany would be great!
+1 for Anni's Borderlands dubstep at the end...too funny!
I used to deliver stuff for Sandvik back when I was a delivery boy. It was mostly wooden crates full of little metal discs. No idea what they were for.
damn, getting sandvik as a sponsor is a machinist holy grail.
Great video as always! Almost dropped my phone from laughing at Anni doing the van commercial. That might make a good video... With all those great machining tools and know-how you could make your own car from the frame up! ( with a smashinator 5 million as optional equipment) lol
I think best car for you for this use would be Volvo XC70. Really pleasant to drive and travel, even smaller diesel engines powerful enough to pull a trailer, big enough to carry some stuff on its own. Reasonably reliable, but unfortunately they are not the cheapest cars, you can get a 10 year old nice one just below € 10,000, but younger ones can go up to € 25,000. I think for your purpose it is better choice then anything else.
My other choice would be a Honda Accord Tourer, not as pleasant as Volvo, but propably a little more then half in terms of price, good enough, spaceous enough, reliable as f***. But only avaiable with FWD.
These big milling machines are awesome! I love it!
Moi! I hope you find a seller for your van and get a new one at a decent price! Your German viewers are so lucky! If you come to San Diego, I will be there! 👍🏻👏🏻😻
It sounds much better, friendlier and more melodious when Anni says "Thank you for watching!" rather than "Thanks for watching! in the outro. You should go back to that! Love both your channels...
I love you guys and you are so business savvy, you can claim all your holidays and trips for new cars as RUclips business expenses 😃 brilliant, I wish I could do that because tax sucks.
Well said :D
Tax sucks if it is not spent on what it should be spent on.
MegaDirtyberty it never is that's the problem and that's why you have to pay so much of it.
MegaDirtyberty it's never spent on what it should be spent on. Taxation is theft.
Therein lies the problem, governments doing their job properly.
2:46 - "Is it cake?" - I was hoping the same thing! 😁😁😁😁
I also work at sandvik, (steel mill), and was reflecting about your material need. You shoulld try to buy a whole cast billet, some are huge in diameter. Even a bit "squared up" already depending on the mould, but i dont know where to find the steel properties that you are looking for, we usualy make high grade stuff.
Yay, please share your travelling route through Germany! ♥
Horizontal milling is great, I use it on a mitsui seiki hu50a every day!
That was quite some box & quite some unboxing!
I was disappointed because I thought you were going to announce shirts with the Vuohensilta logo. It's really nice and would be a cool way to get recognized by other HPC fans. I hope you do make one. I need new shirts!
Nice cutter, I´m using the same inserts at my job!
Anni, Lauri, when you're doing your holiday you're always welcome here in Bierde :-)
Make the 1 ton hammer from 52100 steel heat treated to the same specifications as steel bearing balls, then crush the hammer in the hydraulic press.
I can't see that mech-car lasting more than an hour or two......it looks and sounds awesome by the description:P Great video!
Awesome selling style Anni, if i had any money I would have bought the Van right away :D
Lauri very impressive machine! May i ask how the giant Blender project is going at the Moment?
We have just ended our summer holiday and now we are filming with smashinator and after this I have plenty of videos on reserve and I can start to build again more stuff. I have the CAD model almost ready and after that I order rest of parts. I have already the whole powertrain sorted out.
Well, the only suggestion I have for a new company vehicle is "Truck Norris" aka a Toyota Hilux.
Hilux would be probably really goos option, bit pricey but maybe I could find cheap one
+Beyond the press
Maybe something like this one?

www.mobile.de/ is one of the biggest car-market-websides in Germany...
Or a Hiace, the van version of the same vehicle.
You have a great looking shop. I miss machining at times, as I am now retired. Your wife Anni adds a great touch to your videos. She is funny and pretty.
Is Sandvic also helping tech assistance? I was wondering about running all your cutters dry. Sometimes dry is best but often not. Dry is sure better for most machines though.
Any update on the 1000t press? Is it ever going to happen?
We lost sponsor on that so at least I have to start from all over again from zero with that :D
I know of a VERY large press you can probably have for free. It was built for some specific task at a factory in Fredrikstad, Norway, and has a huge vertical piston as well as a smaller horizontal one. When they tore down the factory they left it standing on its foundation. Bringing it to Finland would be an interesting endeavor... Want pictures?
Henning Klaveness Would be easier to start filming in Norway :)
I love you guys.
Also I hope that you are going to show the machining of the hammer when it happens.
Definitely the biggest mill I've ever seen. Holy shit.
Badass mill. Thanks.
We have a very similar machine in size and design at work here in Adelaide Australia.
Gets a lot of gun drill work where the holes can be a meter or two long. A little scary and very messy in that situation.
Interesting to see yours in action.
Well that box was pretty fookin after all.. so hell yea .....you guys are great , always funny and makes me smile every time..👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😆😆😆😆
How long have you been doing machine work ? You both are very entertaining. Keep up the good work.
It would be cool to see some of the metal parts from the old Volkswagen van pressed into a cube (or other shape)! You can entertain a lot of people, make money from the video, plus you can sell the pressed metal a scrap yars for quite a bit of money!
Please excuse my ignorance, but why is there not water running to cool and lubricate the tool as it is cutting the long bar???
I really just wanna know how much the electric bill is...
Nice long bed machine there. I didn't see you using any coolant when you were machining that surface. Is there a reason for that? Good luck on car upgrade. There is a point when it is not worth fixing it anymore.
I was wondering why sometimes you use the coolant and sometimes you don't? Love the "real work" videos! :D
It's always compromise between making a mess and being able to go bit faster. For example here we are in no hurry since it takes hours to do the setup and just couple minutes to machine so no need to save any time on machining part and making everything wet
Awesome! (I think it goes without saying that I'm jelly)
When I heard "Sandvik" I got exited, as I know them from my work :O
Yes, even used machines are still quite expensive. But good nonetheless.
That is such amazing machine. I think I will stick with stereo equipment.. that's too scary! lol
i truly mean this in the most loving way, never get better at english
Nice one it may actually be really handy keep up
This is nice machine. I wish i could take pictures of mine but i would get into trouble. Its a tos kurim bridge mill. 5 axis. Has 5 different heads, 2 straight heads, 2 90deg heads and a 5 axis head. 45ft in x (13.7 meters) by 22 feet in y (6.7 meters) and 12 feet in z (3.7 meters) it has 30,000 mm per min rapid (1200in/m) about 6k rpm on spindle. I like seeing your machines. It weighs 140,000 kg.
What was with the nnc nnc nnc Anni?
Thats a pretty new controller on that old sacem.
Here they still run most of the work on a TNC 355 (Zayer KF4000), As the new machines with TNC640 just have to many bugs left
I believe they retrofitted the machine themselves. They have a very good engineer in the family.
Smash that van with the smashinator 5 million!! Haha jk.
Awesome video! I love the "actual work" videos.
Thanks Sandvik! Does that C-axis spin fast enough for turning? (I know it doesn't, but cool video idea depending on if it spins anywhere even close to fast enough.) That is an 5 axis machine (spindle extend/retract- z, spindle up/down the mast- a, table- x & y, table rotation- b. Right?), so maybe some mill turning instead, if it doesn't spin very fast.
I had to speed up the footage something like 600% so it's very slow :D But with spinning tool you can kind of turn :D
OMG it makes me crazy!!! DOes someone know the music thats played during the machining? Pleaseee

The high pressure fuel pump driven off the back of the cam shaft can also leak fuel in to the oil and might be worth a look, or you could be very unlucky and have a porous cylinder head.
Yep I heard about that also. The fuel pump would be pretty cheap fix
I'm surprised you don't drive a Unimog. Also, that Mjølnir you're building would be interesting attached to a large excavator (you know the kind they use for dredging, with a 10m arm).
I had really nice Unimog for one week when I was in the army. I we had lot more views I would buy Unimog straight away :D
Haha Unimogs were the best in winter, so easy to drift. Just remember to select lower gear to motor brake on icy road, rears lose the traction instantly. Tried that intentionally, of course hoping it would happen :D
I had a KIA Sorento, a 2012 diesel model. It was an awesome car, the nicest I’ve ever had. Unfortunately after having it for 3 months some idiot went through a red light and hit me. Insurance wrote the car off but at least I wasn’t injured, very safe car. Economical too, about 800 km from one tank.
My dad has also that newest model and it's really comfortable car and cheap when compared to orher similar cars
Perdona...eso no es una fresadora grande cnc ..es una MANDRINADORA CNC echa en el pais vasco españa..un saludo
Hermosa mandrinadora amigo..saludos
Will you make any nice looking engravings to the square part of the hammer?
Yep I will do something fancy there :D
the way away got me watchin
Germany is a quite unspecific coordinate. The south of Hesse (Darmstadt-Dieburg, Odenwald) would be nice, then I had a chance to say hello! :)
Where is the vuohensilta workshop baseball cap you teased us with in the merch store? :P
Sorry for the delay with those we have been really busy since lot of stuff piled up during our holidays and we are trying to catch up :D I try to get that done tommorow
Thank you!
I hope they're coming, because i'm planning to buy one ;)
I see VW are still living up to their name lol
250,000km isn't that bad though.
Mine is still going strong at 300000km with the same clutch it had when it was bought in the dealer
Visit Prague, you have subscribers here as well and we have better beer 😀
Amazing sar very nice
Amazing content!
For bigger processing speed and cleaner, use compressed air cooling on the tool
Would a 25 inch diameter cast iron bar work?
I'm not sure how or where they sell those, but I heard from a cop who arrested me once that there are old police cars which are pretty cheap and that they actually have power.
I'd love to buy the van but I think it will cost more to ship it to the UK than it is worth
Hyvä vidi
what is the song that starts at 6:55?
Great advert Anni 😜👍💗
Check with alro metals in Greensboro NC for that round stock
Road trip with you guys would be awesome....some friends and i went a few years back but we had a van with a futon into awesome room all day an sleep 3 if needed at night when folded out... but i thank you an your girl would that its so much fun an very CHEAP holidays when you stay in a van ,wake up at the ocean or the mountain..damn now i want to go again..hahaha love you guys. Good luck HAVE fun life !.!.right?.?.!!.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👅👅👅👅👅😲🤘✌
I had a 2009 Sorento as a company car a few years ago, the car was okay but did have a couple of really annoying 'features'. When driving past trees when the sun was low the automatic headlights strobe on and off as you pass each tree. This makes everybody think that you are stupid and on-coming traffic really annoyed. The front parking sensors never switch off even at motorway speed, worse, they are so sensitive that the beeper goes mad when driving in rain.
Thanks for the video.
It's looking pditty goooot!
hell yeah
In the contest of " mine is bigger" i can safely say that where i work, machines are at least 3 times bigger hehehe
06:37 watch out, someone is using your press !
Is the mega blender still happening?
Yep it's coming I have been just too busy as usual :D
That is great! What about the 1000 ton press, is it completely abandoned idea? I think you will do just fine with the old one to be honest.
What is the music at 7:53?
Never seen a face mill with such high negative rake angle
the biggest mill I have seen resides in Waukesha Wisconsin at the Waukesha gas engine factory....its 4 stories tall
i offer a nice birch stick for sauna in winter :D i btw live in germany, if you want "bang for buck" go for hyundai, they are massively upping their game here and you can get some pretty good deals even on new / year old cars
Sharky I don't trust Hyundai very much. A friend of mine just had a 2013 model with 72000 miles on it, and the engine seized and destroyed the clutch in the process. Cost about 4000 to 5000 USD to fix. Maybe you have different experiences, though.
yeah i mean 72k miles depending on the engine thats in there is quite a bit, cant tell anything about how your friend was using and maintaining his car, but for it to seize it needs more than just a bit of neglect to be honest... an engine doesnt just seize, it must run with very little oil either due to lack of oil or due to the oil pump failing... both usually gives you a red light in the cockpit wich clearly states loss of oil pressure and everyone clear minded would shut off the engine asap. also a destroyed clutch due to an catastrophic engine failure is a bit strange to say since it gets swapped out anyways if something like this happens to the motor.
there can and will always be cases of engines exploding from every brand and make, i'd surely not go down the route of saying car x is better than y. hyundai does offer a 5 year warranty though, so if your friend was bringing the car in for service, he should be covered by the warranty.
For what it's worth, I think it would be good for the channel if you got a really strange car that could get famous in its own right. You know, like the dog van from Dumb & Dumber, that kind of thing. Maybe a forestry truck with a log splitter that you could re-engineer into a vertical press?
Zack Stewart I was thinking a DeLorean 😂
Greetings from Germany :D
Pritty guud shirt?
There is only one car for you to choose from. Get a Volvo XC70. Not too expensive, you can get a big engine, AWD, nice to drive and very easy to maintain. If they are too expensive in Finland, you can buy one in Sweden. Took a quick look and a -07 would be around 5000 Euro. Often high mileage, but they more or less go forever.
Multikara would be a great truck for you
A Multicar? Those things are tiny!
yess you come to germany :D i am from there
where exactly are you going to germany? (buy an Audi, best cars xD)
They want some durable car, not something to show off.
A VW wasn't good, and a Audi won't be a big difference, since it's the same group.
Maybe an A6 station wagon would be a good choice with an hydraulic (!) clutch (automatic transmission) but this car is too expensive.
So you mean that KIA is good ? xD
Yes, at least better than some VAG product.
No, never.
My dad has newer Kia and the spare parts are pretty cheap and car has worked really well. And If I can use only around 7000€ for the car it won't lose it value much during next years. The biggest money pit with cars is how they lose value. If you compare 10 year old car to brand new one you can buy every year new motor to old one and it's still cheaper to keep than the new one that looses 10 000€ on first year :D
Free shipping to United States on van Lol. Have a great weekend
If your trip brings you to Hamburg and you want to see something of the city or the harbor - give me a message, I'd be pleased to meet you and show you around!
CAT 50?
play this in the background of your shop when you are not filming. player.radio.com/listen/station/knx-1070-newsradio the announcers there have had speech training. its like immersion in a room full of Californians who repeat the same words every 22 minutes. i love your channel.
Should buy a Mercedes sprinter, best vehicle I have ever owned by far, I have had over 20 cars and trucks in the past
Unts unts unts unts unts unts 😁😁😁😁
I say put this van in a car-crusher and sell the scrap to the steel industry,it would make a really good video.
4 gauge or, work it down and make something..
Postal Patriot556 That could work too.
what is that music called at 6:55
