I've been quite active on RUclips Shorts lately and decided to test out some viral ones that kept appearing on my page. The most satisfying one was making popits using Play Doh that ended up being a bit trickier than I expected. If you want to try it, be sure to follow these guidelines:
- Use a slightly older/already opened package. This holds the shape better when you make the cylinder which ensures maximum air trapped inside. A brand new pack of play-doh tends to be too soft and the walls will fall together instead of popping.
- Roll it out using a round pen or pencil. Once you wrap the dough around the pen, roll it out a second time and try to get the walls as thin as possible.

The person who made the glove video clarified what type of glove she used in her TikToks so chances are you can do a more accurate test if you wanted. She did it multiple times with different requests and it happened pretty quickly
Ah thank you!! I'm going to try finding the original right now!
One day I tried to make a squishy and i used maybe a dry erase marker and it poped when I squeezed and drew
My brothers and I used to make the pillow pop-its out of Silly Putty all the time. Silly Putty gives a very crisp popping sound and it's satisfying to do, but it's more difficult to make a closed pod than with the play-doh.
Yay thanks for the tip!! Must try that if I come across Silly Putty
@@maqaroon I was going to say the same. When I was a kid I did the pillow pop-its all the time with silly putty, which you can make by making a really thick slime. (borax solution and PVA glue)
Silly Putty bubble popping is a classic!
As to the rubber glove and sharpie situation. I somehow remember something similar from my childhood. I've definitely seen and touched these bubble areas before.
If I remember correctly, it didn't happen immediately, but only after the glove lay there for several days/weeks. The bubbles felt more thin than the rest of the glove.
I would think we used Edding brand back then, as it is the most common marker brand here in Germany. And it was probably a latex glove, as nitrile is usually only bought by people who have a latex allergy.
Thank you!! I will try that too, I did notice that the pen in the original video looked more like a permanent marker rather than a Sharpie. I'm in Austria so it's easy to get Edding, will definitely try that again 😄
@@maqaroon 😊👍
Nice debunking. I love clay cracking so that play dough surprised me!
Also it's sad to see the 5 min craft affect working on new creators....
What do u mean
@@StarGirl926 I mean new creators seem to be following the 'it's just for entertainment' trope rather than teaching you to make fake snow say...
@@xxPenjoxx Yep I think the fake DIY format is deliberately used by some creators to increase their reach (worked great for all those content farms!) and cause they know people will try to duet their videos
Instead of going to bed I’m gonna watch this.
sameee
i literally never comment but i wanted to say that i’ve been watching you since i was quite young and your videos popped into my head today so i came back, and to see the consistent effort you pour into your videos is so heartwarming, i always ran to your channel for comfort and it feels so warm now too , i really want to thank you for helping young me feel safety whilst living in a difficult home situation , i really do love you and im so happy for you, i wish nothing but endless love , personal fulfilment and joy for you :) love you maqaroon!!!
I can kind of see how at some level the glove trick would work 🤔 I work in Healthcare and when I clean equipment with alcohol based chemicals and wear gloves to prevent harn to my skin. After some wear the gloves do seem to become sticky and start to break down. Perhaps the original clip used a very harsh permanent marker and left it for a while?
I think for the glove video the person who did it probably rubbed pure acetone or isopropyl alcohol on the gloves beforehand.
Latex gloves do not get damaged by sharpies from what I found out. Apparently it's even recomended to use sharpie if you have to write on them.
Which makes sense.
Most heavy cleaning materials use alcohols and latex gloves also need to be sanitized in a lot of scenarios. They are made in a way that resists alcohol solvents and you would need a way higher concentration to desolve them.
Sharpies wouldn't have nearly enough alcohol in them to damage the gloves.
You're the next Ann Reardon with this debunking action!!
I used to bring markers to really long pediatric visits and ask the nurse for a glove or two and make “balloon buddies” when all the activities got boring. Never did they get bulging eyes. Usually we used the purple or blue nitrile gloves with kid markers but occasionally I’d borrow black & red sharpies from the nurse…would have made a cooler rooster if it did have bulging eyes & beak!
I was hoping to make cuter designs like huge manga eyes or a Jigglypuff design 😂. Still need to figure out which combination produces the bulging effect
Surely half the fun with scratch cards is the scratchy scratchy.
For play doh pop its, you can use blue tack as well! I tried before seeing this video and all the tik toks about it and thought I was the first and amazing lol
Idk if this is everywhere, but in the US there is silly putty and I use it for "reusable pop its" ever since I was a kid. It's easy to trap air in it and then pop it.
I forgot about silly putty! I used to make it pop too. And I’d roll it out on newspaper to get an image on the putty. I think newspapers use different materials now so we can’t do that anymore,
Thank you for the tip! I just saw another comment about Silly Putty so I need to get some to try out!
I did the play dough one and mine worked first time but I did use old play dough.
Im going to try it out right now
Yes I think I made it harder for myself because I bought new Play Doh just for the colours however the texture was too soft! I did try making one with super old Play Doh (slightly crumbly) and that failed so there's an ideal range in the middle.
@@maqaroon ❤️❤️❤️
i missed your videos! thanks for forming my childhood
The first one me and my siblings would BEG for my dad to blow up the gloves and we would use it as a balloon!
(I did this when I was 4 or 5)
I was gonna say I made the play doh pop it's as a kid.. didn't remember until now. And yes thin is key.
When you mix your resins, etc. Your weighing them. Does the directions tell you to weigh them????
The weight is similar but not the sane. Most resins need to be measured in a cup or something with markings.
Its important to remember mass and weight are different.
If you had a liter of liquid lead and water and directions called for 1:1 mixture. They DOnt mean to weigh. They mean to measure. In this ex you would be off quickly. Since your mediums are similar in weight . Your getting positive results when your mixing smaller quantities but when you try three octopi its not setting up no matter what you do. Another is when you color with anything with a water base most of the resin and polymers will reject it. Best to stay with micas and sometimes alcohol dyes. Ive used paint but extremely sparingly. You might want to try an epoxy drying oven if your interested in speeding up time. I have one from amazon that i love and would be happy to share the info. There are height restrictions but the things you do on line would be fine.
i remember making those play doh pillows accidentally as a kid, this brought back a lot of memories. love your videos !!
There are always interesting things in your videos that I want to see
Gloves are suppose to protect your hands from chemicals. I can explain one way to make the fake.
Did you try the brand name sharpie on the nitrile gloves? I can personally attest that sharpies pop them. It's tradition in my family to blow them up and draw on them to make them into chickens when we're hospitalized, or a child is at the doctor. I eventually made sure to start carrying sharpies with me. It pops them. Not even while drawing on them. They will just randomly pop. Within about 10 minutes
So crazy that B’loonies are actually still available in the US, I just saw them at my grocery store last week 😅
I loved Bloonies when I was a kid but it got banned in the EU sometime in the 90s. I had to order them from the USA when making that video 😂
So for the play dough, it was still to thick so u should roll it super thic until it dosent rip, it would still like 50% thic I’d say but yea ur tip sounds true,
Everybody gangsta till she breath in the hot glue bubbles instead of blowing it
Could you try to make squishys out of candle jelly?
I've done the first one when I was younger on a regular balloon with a permanent marker and it did actually work. Not sure if what the balloon was made of and the ingredients in the permanent marker were vastly different than today though
I love your viral tests!!
imagine if u were doing the hand sanitizer lottery ticket one and u just like won the lottery on camera
Early! Tysm for making videos it makes so many people happy including me :)
I've been out and in hospitals my ehole..life [broken arm a few times lol] ..and we always made rubber glove turkys and drew on them with sharpy nothing ever happened so it's most likely fake af
It's funny to see the glove hack when i used to draw on balloons with pens as a child. And inked areas would blow a little.
The salt and sugar one is so stupid like when u make cake that u add both salt and sugar it does not make snow in you body when u eat it lol
The hand was funny lol, I love your channel though!
B'loonies are banned? That must have been a recent thing or not in the US because they are still being sold here from what I can tell
hey if you mix hand sanitizer and glue you will make this lil shine when I make paper squishes I use it to make it lil shiney
I love her voice it's so relaxing ☺️
Hey I’m sorry I’m late my commment deleted when I posted it! But are you doing ok? Your voice seems tired or sick.. not like it usually is. I’m just wondering if your ok because I love your channel and I hope ur doing well :)
Did you know that you can make melted sugar bubbles
the first glove one is real i’ve done it a lot before there are a lot of youtubers who have done it too and show you how
you have to use a lot of marker tho keep going over it and it will happen in front of your eyes
Super cool ideas
I made the glue balloons my mom wasn't so happy lol
When I saw you make single use pop Out of Plato my whole childhood flashed in front of my eyes are used to make them all the time whenever I can but it’s always an accident now that I know how to make them Correctly I can make them whenever I want
I like the older you. The videos nowadays are very speedy I dont know why and you're only posting shorts :c
Not hating but u lost a sub
I love this video !
I like your vids so much 😍😍
I just woke up and imma watch this :)
Do you need to use a water filled glove
Hey maqaroon is it ok if you can show us how to make a cute envelope which is easy for Oslo paper because I don't have oragami paper
I Got the exactly some play Dow on christmas the somee ONEee
I am making the play doh pop it right now
You have to use nail polish clear
Amazing Video
why did the play doh sound fake?
Helooo, can you try magic Sakura tree?
I'm pretty sure the glove one is fake.
The comment made first, *AFTER* watching the full video, only, will be considered as the FIRST COMMENT....
Are you the first comment criteria police?
@@SirrSerpent Naah but some kids were arguing critically so as a personal dadd it's my responsibility....
Love you
The glove one only works with latex gloves
She tried latex. Didn’t work
Yes the second glove was latex but I think I had the wrong marker. I need to try it again with a thick permanent marker which looks like what the person used in the original video
@@maqaroon ahhh okay that makes sense
