- On December 26th, 2022, officers responded to a domestic battery. The caller reported that a male and a female had been arguing loudly. Upon speaking with the male, the officers learned that he had been struck in the face. The officer wasn't sure if the woman was telling the truth, so he asked her for more details to see if they matched the victim's statements. He suspected that she had not only been drinking but had also been using other intoxicants. Just as she was about to be taken to the police vehicle, she pointed out a bag containing syringes. The woman continued to resist the officers, further complicating the situation. She wasn’t very cooperative in the jail as well. The female was charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest.

I have a friend who acted like this and sadly she had a brain bleed. Thankfully she wasn’t arrested but taken to the emergency room! She had never acted like that in her life. A wonderful mother, wife and friend. So very sweet and kind. 😢😢

Hmmmm. I don’t think it’s that cut & dried. What led her here? Did she grow up learning that violence is how people express themselves in her family/neighbourhood? Did this or some other guy like him get her hooked on drugs & abuse her so she started fighting back? Does he emotionally abuse her so she fights back physically? Do they both fight each other? Was she sold/abused/made homeless as a kid so her entire view on life & what she deserves is warped? Was her brain function altered by her parents doing drugs/drinking/fighting, causing inappropriate responses to stimuli? There’s so much more to everyone’s lives than what we see in a 20 minute snapshot. There is a point where people need to take responsibility for their lives & take advantage of the help that’s available, as well as deal with the consequences of their actions, but if you don’t know any different, how do you learn to behave differently? People can be victims & abusers. Look how many paedophiles were abused. How many abusers were abused 🤷♀️

I always saw the "can you spare a couple of dollars, I'm trying to get a bus ticket" on TV and thought it was made up until I was servicing a house in a city and someone came up to my co-worker and I and asked it. I just kind of subtly slipped away while pretending to work as he explained he didn't have any cash. Had a good laugh with him later because he'd *never* heard that before.
Later on as I was spending more time in the city, one of the locals comes up to me every time she sees me and tells me a different story. Her mom is sick, her mom is dying, her mom is dead (not necessarily in that order), she's Fergie, she spent time with the Clintons, I'm her husband, I'm her boyfriend, I'm her ex, we all spent time in the Hamptons with the Clintons/President, she had a job but lost it, she quit her job at a bank because someone hit her in the head with a hammer - it goes on and on. That, and she calls me a different name every time she's seen me, after I've told her my actual first name at least twice. All because I gave her $4 at one point. The Subway she hangs around at eventually had to kick her out because she was begging people in the store for money and free subs. They only tolerated her because before that, she was at least buying food with the money she was begging.
Never mind that the average EBT allotment around here is $291/month for a single, childless adult - I think I literally told her at one point I wasn't gonna buy her a sub because that's a special treat for people who bust their asses for a living after she demanded to know why I wouldn't buy her one.
These videos just show me that every cop is severely underpaid for putting up with this insanity

She went right to victim, BUT I was pleasantly surprised that she didn't instantly start accusing her partner of harming her. Even with the prompts from the officer.
Now there are many possible reasons for that (eg that her prime goal is to get the police out of the room so that they do NOT have a look around). But in the usual videos of this type, the abuser usually accuses the victim of being the aggressor from the second the police arrive, if not before.
