Great info. Lids also stop jumping fish, dust, kids dropping things in and is somewhere to rest an LED light until to get a stand.

The biggest factor for me is that lids limit growing submersed plants like pothos etc. Almost all of my tanks are open top with lots of plants growing out. I can make the DIY lids with spaces for plants but I find them kind of ugly and a lot of my tanks are below eye level. I love to look in from the top. But yes, my apartment is humid and I keep AC on practically year round. None of my open tanks are filled to the top to avoid suicides, and also they have lots of floating plants which also seem to deter jumping.

Dude, I love that anubias tank you have so much. I've been thinking about it a lot recently. I think I'm going to set up something very similar

Thanks! I love Anubias only setups. I think they are very striking and they are very low maintenance as well! Ill have a video soon updating this tank :)

Hi! Thank you for your great content, I'm learning a lot from you. I have a question though. So said that you like to use sponge filters. Do you use them even in your heavily planted thanks? I heard a few people recommending hang on back filters because they create a flow in the water. What are your thoughts about this?
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer me :)

no lid looks sooo much better. but room humidity, water top-offs... oh i never thought of the noise! i cut a thin piece of acrylic for all my tanks.
lids help for "jumpers" too - i forgot to put the lid back on - yesterday i found a zebra danio just kickin' it in the tank NEXT to my danio tank. lucky, suicidal, or absolute genius. 🤣

I won’t bite 😊. No the lid is fine, as long as it isn’t a perfect seal then oxygen will get in there. Typical aquarium lids have a bit of a gap at the back. No problem 😉
