US students have student loans too. Overall people support the F1B visa programs, but CEO are abusing it and it being used to undercut the existing workforce. CEO like Elon just laid off thousands of people. He can't then just claim he has a worker shortage. I think they should target the abusive companies rather than foreign workers. Companies like Tesla should face fines and F1B ban for abusing the system. Also, Trump wants to cut social security. Most young Americans doubt that social security will exist by the time they retire, which why they want a good paying jobs with retirement funds like the tech jobs that being filled with F1B visa applicants. There are too many unemployed IV league grads and experienced laid off tech workers looking for jobs right now. AI has greatly changed the game. People are fighting over the remaining jobs so there is a lot of high caliber applicants at this time but CEO are greedy and want cheaper labor that they can fully control.
As an American Mexican student I completely agree with you but we are left out too. Indian Chinese and European students have the means to pay while local students who ancestry is rooted here or not even allowed to attend because of racist reasons. We could very well do what the Indian students do but they prefer to bypass the local Mexican students and take the money from other people willing to take the spot of a Mexican

Most international students are graduate students who receive assistantships to study in the USA. Few international students can afford to pay out-of-state or private university tuition rates.

I graduated in 2018 with a masters degree and even after assistantship and a part time job, my total expense including fees and living were around 20,000$ for 2 yrs. This is so rhetorically funny... Being in US, I have talked to several of my Amercians friends about joining the tech wave and none of them have shown even a 1% interest. I literally tried selling it to them with the benefits and high pays, but to no avail. Like who do you expect filling the tech roles or other roles which these people themselves dont want to do?
As an American engineer, we have more than enough talent needed to continue innovating as we have for the last eight decades. Many of the imported foreign engineers do lower quality work, for example when they are not proficient at English and cannot write documentation or communicate sufficiently, which is part of the job description for basically all engineers. The solution is to promote STEM among our own people instead of importing them from the third world. Interestingly, it these engineers are so great and so talented, wouldn't you want them to remain in India so they can improve your country?

It is also a problem of our school system from grade school to high school. A lot of teachers are not good in science and so they teach student to become liberals and most student enrolled on non science courses causing liberal graduate which cannot get better job in high tech industry.

To what extent are the visas being exploited or misused? We should expect answers to those questions. Should there be limits on H-1B visas, or should they be eliminated? What will be the impact if it's eliminated? Of course, Trump just blusters ahead without assessing and then making informed decisions and his MAGA's go along with that.

Im a black left leaning person, but I have to say. I keep hearing Indians here complain about the hefty tuitions Indian students pay in America. The high tuition should guarantee you a quality education. It doesnt guarentee you residency or employment, nor should it.
But with that higher education, if they secure the jobs and not American citizens and eventually get resident status following legal procedures, what is the problem? There are two H1B visa types - one is though masters degree student and other through direct from India. Companies like MAANG are transferring execptional talent but WITCH or service consultancy companies are sending a bunch lot just to save cost and charge clients. H1B should be a merit based lottery program, period !!
I lived in Hyderbad 2016-2017, 2 years. I hated it, but I personally created 100 jobs for the Indian economy. Very low quality of life. When millions of Americans come to India and take your highest paying jobs, then you'll know how it feels. Even more take more jobs remotely. It's a very parasitical relationship, I think.

However, I support Trump or anyone who is willing to put an end to visa fraud and illegal entry into the U.S., as well as those who exploit the system and take jobs meant for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Programs like H1B, OPT, L1, and other similar visas should be limited to ensure fair opportunities for everyone around the world. This woman worried only about Indians and not about victims of other nationalities discriminated because of Indians. We already have a significant number of Indians here, spread across the country, and this issue needs to be addressed before it becomes a headache. Some engage in scams, some enter countries illegally, some manipulate lega. visa systems, and some show a lack of respect for other nationalities, creating numerous problems. One thing you could do to stem this is to write to universities to stop making a 30 hour trip to India to recruit students with shiny brochures to fill their university vacancies. In a lot of these countries they're coming from, STEM higher ed is much more affordable, whereas our students need to take massive loans, which also prevents them from pursuing master's or a phd.

Trump is starting-out with his shoelaces tied together. This is a bad start to his 2nd term! President Trump's words and actions are his responsibility; he needs to weigh the consequences of them.
The thing is they end up flipping burgers in McDonald's instead of actually gaining professional experience or landing high paying jobs that would make them pay taxes. Those low paying jobs that do not require any skills are reserved for American kids or and people in need and not work migrants.

US students have student loans too. Overall people support the F1B visa programs, but CEO are abusing it and it being used to undercut the existing workforce. CEO like Elon just laid off thousands of people. He can't then just claim he has a worker shortage. I think they should target the abusive companies rather than foreign workers. Companies like Tesla should face fines and F1B ban for abusing the system. Also, Trump wants to cut social security. Most young Americans doubt that social security will exist by the time they retire, which why they want a good paying jobs with retirement funds like the tech jobs that being filled with F1B visa applicants. There are too many unemployed IV league grads and experienced laid off tech workers looking for jobs right now. AI has greatly changed the game. People are fighting over the remaining jobs so there is a lot of high caliber applicants at this time but CEO are greedy and want cheaper labor that they can fully control.
As an American Mexican student I completely agree with you but we are left out too. Indian Chinese and European students have the means to pay while local students who ancestry is rooted here or not even allowed to attend because of racist reasons. We could very well do what the Indian students do but they prefer to bypass the local Mexican students and take the money from other people willing to take the spot of a Mexican

OPT is a 1 year program with a 2 years STEM extension, International Students pay 3 times the tuition fee and contribute to the economy in billions of dollars. If there is no incentive to study here why would then even come here? These guys don’t know how trade works.

Being in US, I have talked to several of my Amercians friends about joining the tech wave and none of them have shown even a 1% interest. I literally tried selling it to them with the benefits and high pays, but to no avail.

As an American engineer, we have more than enough talent needed to continue innovating as we have for the last eight decades.
Many of the imported foreign engineers do lower quality work, for example when they are not proficient at English and cannot write documentation or communicate sufficiently, which is part of the job description for basically all engineers.
The solution is to promote STEM among our own people instead of importing them from the third world. Interestingly, it these engineers are so great and so talented, wouldn't you want them to remain in India so they can improve your country?

The middle class in America is falling into poverty because of wage suppression. Their children, who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on education, struggle to find jobs. This is a class war. Even those coming through the H1B program acknowledge that they, too, suffer from low wages, exploitative jobs, and unnecessary pressure from employers, which negatively impacts their mental and overall health.
It is also a problem of our school system from grade school to high school. A lot of teachers are not good in science and so they teach student to become liberals and most student enrolled on non science courses causing liberal graduate which cannot get better job in high tech industry.

As usual, Trump has decided something, people are debating about it, but Trump hasn't sought any statistics or numbers to reveal whether the H-1B visas fill slots that otherwise would not be filled. To what extent are the visas being exploited or misused? We should expect answers to those questions. Should there be limits on H-1B visas, or should they be eliminated? What will be the impact if it's eliminated? Of course, Trump just blusters ahead without assessing and then making informed decisions and his MAGA's go along with that.

But with that higher education, if they secure the jobs and not American citizens and eventually get resident status following legal procedures, what is the problem? They are not doing anything illegal here. If you think they should not be allowed here to work and get residency after they are done with their education, work with your law makers to not allow them. I lived in Hyderbad 2016-2017, 2 years. I hated it, but I personally created 100 jobs for the Indian economy. Very low quality of life. I graduated in 2018 with a masters degree and even after assistantship and a part time job, my total expense including fees and living were around 20,000$ for 2 yrs.
And most international students usually pay on an average 40-60,000$ in fees + living expenses.
So US would loose out on billions of $ if they restrict the international students.

Indians need to develop their economy by getting rid of those who're engaged in anti-India activities using the young force. The funding from the Government needs to be "community based social work funding" and not "individual based funding" that's not working in the western countries. Mostly Muslims are the beneficiaries of such funding. The US is looking to fix it. Let the funding from outside countries go to the community then the Indian Government can match it. The funding for religious conversions can be used for local community. Since both Muslims and Christians don't have food programs in their place of congregations, they need to invest in it to get any funding from the Government. Hindus are already funding community based food programs, so matching them will give leave funding for other programs like Gurukuls, Goshalas, Go and Hindu Raksha etc.

H1B VISAS also need have COUNTRY BASED QUOTA which would limit exploitation by India , where all of 60k visas are currently being garbed by India alone, Take off H4 Dependent visas which are being exploited as well, along with OPT VISAS removal as well.
