@@ChristieintheCity yhea! And Recently, I found that the name of your city has a common origin with the city of Valparaíso in Chile. The original name was Portersville, after David Porter who participated in the Anglo-American War of 1812, but Porter later petitioned to have the city renamed Valparaíso. Because in Chile a fight took place where he participated, just off the coast of the city in the Pacific Ocean.
Valpo is one of the greatest cities to live in.....in the summer. Very boring in the winter. The winters are the price we pay to enjoy such gorgeous and fruitful summers.
Valpo is the best! I love Ricochet too, their margaritas are sooo good! I will for sure do another Valpo video in the near future when I'm visiting family. I've actually been keeping a list of places to include in the next vid, haha! Thank you for watching!
I'm binge watching videos of people reviewing my little town. Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely be sure to check out Stacks bar and grill next time if you haven't already. There's a really neat little area a few stories up on the roof top. It's a great view while enjoying a meal.
Thank you for watching, Nick! I love Valpo, my family has lived in the area for years now and I love coming back to visit. There are so many great local businesses and Stacks is a favorite of all of ours- can't beat the food or the drinks! I actually haven't checked out the rooftop yet, so I will definitely do that the next time we're in town visiting.
I grew up in valpo all the things you visted werent there bout 7 or 8 years ago. Its a bit less boring now, but there isnt much there outside the downtown.
Ahhh, I love Bao's! They make my husband's favorite almond croissant, he says it's the best one he's had. :) There are so many gems in Valpo! Thank you for watching.
Omg Albanese is the best!! It’s in Merrillville and one of my favorites too. Their chocolate-covered gummy bears are divine. It sounds weird but once I tried them, I was hooked!
I’ve been living in Valpo for 20 years, and after all that time, it does kinda tend to get old. The winters are really boring because there’s not that much to do. The only night life here is Franklin House, and that’s only on Fridays. Overall, if you’re visiting and passing through, sure, Valpo can be a really nice destination if you’re traveling about the Midwest. However, spend twenty years here, and it gets old pretty quickly.
Hi Christie! I’m from Crown Point and I would love to know your favorite spots in the crown point/merrillville/Scherillville areas to take my friends to when they visit!
Hi Josey! I will add a NWI video to my filming list! I feel like I haven't explored much of Schererville in particular, so I'm excited to check it out! Off the top of my head- In Merrillville, love Aladdin Pita (they have amazing Middle Eastern food) and Asparagus (Thai food plus a more upscale feel). Of the spots on the square in Crown Point, I like Sip for coffee, Ricochet for tacos and margaritas, plus all the shops to check out! Thank you for watching!
There’s a guy there that isn’t very nice (to me) not anyone you listed. Just from my experiences, besides that, it seems like an amazing place to visit when I get the chance!
Thanks for the visit and spotlight on our awesome town!
Thank you for watching!! Valpo is amazing!
Gotta love Valpo! An interesting, creative small place.
It really is! I love Valpo, I always love visiting when I'm in the area. :) Thank you for watching!
It's funny, in Valparaíso, Chile. We says Valpo too
Do you really?! That's so funny, I didn't know that!! Thank you for watching!

When I'd visit my friend who went to Valpo University, a favorite stop for me was the Albanese Candy Factory somewhere in Indiana on the way! :)
