"Itchycoo Park" is a song written by Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane, first recorded by their group, the Small Faces. Largely written by Lane, it was one of the first music recordings to feature flanging, an effect at that time made possible by electro-mechanical processes. The location and etymology of the titular park has long been debated; many claiming it to be Little Ilford Park in Manor Park, East London, Valentine's Park in Ilford or Wanstead Flats in Wanstead, East London. The single was not featured on any of their UK albums, but was however featured on the North American release There Are But Four Small Faces.
Released on 4 August 1967 on Immediate Records, the song was the Small Faces' fifth top-ten song in the UK Singles Chart, reaching a position of number three. "Itchycoo Park" became the Small Faces' sole top-forty hit in the United States, reaching number sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1968. In Continental Europe, it reached the top ten in several countries, while in Canada and New Zealand it was a number one hit. The single was re-released in December 1975, reaching number nine in the UK Singles chart, and is often attributed as the reason for the Small Faces reunion during the mid-1970s.
The song has since been covered by several other artists, most notably by English band M People in 1995, whose dance rendition of the song reached number eleven in the UK.

Steve Marriott...so much talent we lost far too soon.
Steve was incredible, both guitar and vocals. What a loss.
Get a grip. He died 24 years after this song. Plenty of time. He had done what he had to do. What's left is up to us. So...are you wiser? more comfortable...or just as confused?
Thank goodness this footage program was not lost! Those German tv shows and others had the vision! It is really a privilege to see these lads just being themselves. It is such a joy to watch after all these years. Taking a peak at the past and reliving it for a few glorious minutes. Very cool and a rush to me and others I hope! They were the real deal! Still are in our eyes...thankyou Small Faces for being so Mod and high...nice!🥴
🥰 Boom! Just like that! I’m 7yrs young, have always loved this fun, catchy groovy tune!
That line…. “ It’s all too beautiful…” - I’ve always found heartbreaking. Describes that sense of things perfectly.
@stevenlawson-blight4253, 🎯
It actually exists though. When you know Jesus (not to be confused with organized &/or manmade religion). 😊
I agree completely….

Steve swapped me this pink LesPaul for my old sunburst Telecaster, Rome (1967 i think), said he wanted it because it was a bit beaten up, long before it was fashionable.
He was a huge influence on a whole generation, for which he deserves huge recognition.
Rip.
✌️🇬🇧
And this is why i love reading the comments!😘
Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane will live forever because of this song .❤
Another Classic.... Keep Em' Coming ..............👍👍👍👍
Yeah man!
Id have only been.9 when this came out but for some reason I remember it well... Probably my brother played it... RIP my brother Jeff xx
I was 9 yrs old too. I heard it on the radio all the time!!!
Love this song and the memories it brings. Thank you so much…
Thanks.
Hi. Love this song. It always reminds me of my uncle who lived with my family when I was 7, near Sacramento in Citrus Heights. He was a real hippie, lived and traveled CA in his car back then.
Steve Marriott you were all too beautiful, with an amazing voice; which, was flawless with Humble Pie, "Thirty Days In The Hole," a matchless song that II haven't heard anything equal to your voice. I do miss you.
Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane will live forever because of this song.❤
Pretty much before my time and I have never heard of this group or the song. Non the less, I am now a fan. Great song.
as someone old listening ..this came out for me in time to become a skipping school anthem pretty much until 1970 when we graduated…
They eventually became Rod Stewart and Faces
One reason you may not have heard was because of the lyrics.
What did you do there?
I got high
What did you feel there?
Well I cried
But why the tears there?
I'll tell you why
[Chorus]
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
What will we do there?
We'll get high
What will we touch there?
We'll touch the sky
But why the tears then?
I'll tell you why
[Chorus]
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It was banned from most radio play (this was the sixties)
Oh now you got to follow him to another band Humble Pie-- 30 days in the hole- with a rising young guitarist named Peter Frampton.. and just keep on going…. Drugs eventually got the best of him as far as i can remember
Smoked many a joint to this. Best time for music! 😮
Loved this song. Also loved Humble Pie a real true Rock and Roll band who liked to play in clubs and Pubs. Saw them live at a club in Hull Ma called Uncle Sam’s.
I have loved this song since I first heard it. Instant classic.
Born in the early sixties and hits like this one and 70’s are my favorites.
Music will never be same ever again
great song
I love his voice
Just a great song from a very good year for great music. Thanks so much! Cool to see the video.
Thanks Jim!
Thank you, Sammy! Great job on this one! Such a classic. Still a favorite after 55 years. I had the mono 45 RPM back in the day and played the hell out of it. Always loved that flange-effect. [It may have been the 1st, next to Jimi Hendrix’s “Axis Bold as Love”]. Steve Marriott was one of the most underrated rockers.
Thanks Bob! I played the heck out of it too. That flange was so cool back then and still is!
I was a huge fan of this effect as it was a way to experience psychedelic drugs without taking the substance. The first hit song with a very discernible flanging (sometimes called phasing) effect was the #3 single, "The Big Hurt", by Toni Fisher in 1959. It was reported that Jimi Hendrix was obsessed with the song. So was I.
@@shyman99 Yes, The Big Hurt is a great song and that effect works beautifully on that recording.
A pivotal tune.
Excellent job. Thanks Sammy. Love this song.
Thanks Paul. Me too.
“I feel inclined to blow my mind get up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about be nice and have fun in the sun” 🦆🌞
I sooooooo loved these guys
I was serving in Vietnam when this song came out, remember hearing it on Armed Forces Radio for the first time.....
Great stuff
# 25 on my top 100 songs of the 60's.
I have this and Tin Soldier on my top 60's tracks play list.
Perfect matching of stereo to HQ video Sammy.
Very much appreciated Jacob.
😎👌👍
Why go to read the words of fools.
Over and over again spinning 😵💫 around on Sue Ruskin’s West 85th Street turntable enveloped in a fog of non-cigarette smoke with Ivon, Gene, Mickey and Jeff.
Propelled me all the way to Central Park where John and Yoko roamed and this was all a part of New York City’s landscape. 🏄♂️

Why would you replace the original live audio (one of the few live performances of this song) with the studio version? Makes no sense. Is this what you mean by "editing, restoring and remastering"? I would just call it lazy work! Restoring and remastering means you would improve the original audio with hard work, not lazily replacing it with studio recording.
You have NO idea how much it takes to do this. Otherwise you wouldn't make that comment. The video is restored, the audio enhanced. Do you understand?
@@smurfstoolsoldiesmusictimemach The video may well be restored, but the AUDIO, yes, the AUDIO is not ENHANCED. It is simply replaced with the STUDIO version rather than leaving the ORIGINAL live sound, or even better, enhancing the ORIGINAL live sound. I mean, the audio isn't even synced lmao, at some points his lips are moving but there's no sound. My question remains, why deprive fans of the original audio, one of the few live performances of this song available from the 60s, which was on a Belgian tv show called Baton Rouge, if my memory serves me right?
If I may make a comparison, it would be like taking the Live Aid Queen performance of Bohemian Rhapsody , and replacing the Audio with the Studio version of the song!!! I may not be a fan of queen, or that particular song, but it would still be sacrilege!!
Though I agree to some extent that it would have been interesting to enhance the live sound, there's no need to be so rude. You could acknowledge the work done here. Can that be done Sammy?
хорошо
Not live. Lip synced for TV
Great song, but its got a noncey vibe.
Quite possibly the worst lip syncing in music history, no doubt because this song could never be performed live.
SO NICE to hear this again gotta fire up the Marantz !
Me too! A big Marantz fan!
I've been listening to this song for about a week's straight
