I love all the vids you make. You explain things in as simple a way as possible which makes it easy to follow. Adding extra pads is a really good upgrade. Keep up great work.
I’m asking for a BIG FAVOR today my friend. Assuming you think it’s AWESOME, Would you please take the time to share today’s video? We have nine episodes produced so far and I’m guessing that the series will be at least 20 episodes by the time we are finished. We are pouring our heart and souls (not to mention our bank account) into the creation of this series and even though we already love you -we would love you that much more if you shared it and helped us build momentum with this new endeavor :-) Thanks in advance, John G
GREAT GREAT IDEA !!! John can you show close up on the exact plumbing you do with connecting to bio falls with clean out pipe and ball valve. thanks for sharing.
Hey Dan! Check out our video this week. We are starting construction of our personal Water Feature at Modern Design and there are going to be a lot of value in the episodes :-) please share it and help us promote and series we are putting a ton of money and energy into it 👍 thanks again for your support
Great vid as always John! I have a Biofalls drain kit on my falls at home. Probably open it up and drain it 2-3 times a year. Its satisfying to see the digested material flow out then end of hte drain. Flow over the waterfalls is alwasy improved after and I never need to get dirty removing filter pads.
We use coarse, and medium. If you use fine you will have to be religious about cleaning it or it will “flip” in the biofalls once it gets too much “back-pressure” from debris build-up!
Would it be a bad idea to plumb a way to just use the same pump for that feeds the waterfall to backflush? I'm thinking a couple of additional tee valves underground with a barbed nipple to attach a sump hose for backflushing? Then I don't even need to mess with an additional pump for backflushing? This is such a great idea. You can totally disguise the biofalls without worrying about pad removal every season.
really like the T handle to turn off/on the ball valves been needing that for a while now. John do you have a video or 2 on how to start a stream ? I am getting away from the volcano waterfall and want to have a stream that looks like it is coming up from the ground and flowing down 10 feet to the pond where I want a spillway stone to create a small water fall. I will be using soil from the pond hole and want to use some small rock and larger rocks just to create some white water rapids for oxygen
I’m watching and taking lots and lots of notes John ! Thank you for your desire and ability to teach ! This seems to be a way to replicate a wetland filter in a small scale / mechanical option ?
John ! I may have missed it in the comment section but I’d like to know where you guys source the filter pad layers and what grades / types are used ? Hope this makes sense ? Thank you for any info on this and once again thank you for putting in the time and energy to educate us to be better professional pond builders !
Thanks John Going to install one soon the information you provide is priceless . Can you tell me if the intake bay is large in constructed ( which similar to wetland )Can you reduce the size of wetland ? Thanks again John Best regards Peter Jex
Not sure if I understand your question but the intake is your mechanical filter, the size of the intake is based on the flow rate of the pump, which is based on the size of the wetland filter. Does that answer your question?
Damn! That is a fine idea. I'm gonna put in one of those preformed ponds (I know, shame on me. In my defense, it's in the basement and I don't have Ed Beaulieu coming over to build me a better one 😆) and I want to use Aquascape's biofalls for filtration. This makes all kinds of sense to me. I'm already going to be running pipes to make water changes easier. This will make them that much more effective too. May I ask where you're getting the additional filter pads of various coarseness, or is that a trade secret?
I have a 150Gal preform in my basement to grow out a few koi fry I bought from a Japanese import group buy and they are fantastic looking now that they are 4 inches plus a few even close to 7 so go for it you dont need Ed B. to do it for you :)
That buried valve is the gem in this one for me. Nice tool! Genius!
Hope you build better ponds because of it!!
Good stuff Johnny 👍👍
Good to hear from ya boss, it’s been a while- I thought you didn’t love me any more 😂 Hope you guys are well out there!!

Thanks for hanging with me😎✌️
I likes what you said about not changing the medium anymore ... Health is all about the microbiome .😁
Thanks and have a great one!
This will be a good series. Great idea with makimg a t handle
Easy for the client😎
That is an excellent idea, very simple but so so effective 🍻 John 👍
Yes a fine upgrade option every time! They are installing it again on their current project!
Great information. I like the idea of the bottom drain
Makes maintenance a breeze
Som much more beautiful and pristine… 🤩🤩🤩

Thanks for interacting with us, we have been working diligently out here and appreciate all the work you guys do out there!
Great idea !
Great video John. Very informative. Can you tell me the coarseness grades of the additional pads?

Yep, we have done that. Actually split a water line into 3@1” lines that could spray down from the top, it was SUPER COOLIO!

I don’t have that video yet, but I will have!

Yessir it is a great filter!

Another good video. How did you hook up the tube to the bio falls?
Theres a second bulkhead fitting in the bottom-simple glue joint same as the other
Hi John great video! where can you buy the additional filter pads?
We get all of those parts except for the PVC stuff from Aquascapes.
Is the slimy stuff that accumulates in the filter pads something other than Biofilm from the Beneficial Bacteria?
Thanks John

Thanks John
Wetland water flows up
Intake flows down to pump is there any gain biologically
Best regards
Thanks for your response
Well now I wish I had built these on to my Biofalls. That looks so easy compared to how I just had to clean mine.
You can add it pretty easily-ish ;)

Aquascapes sells them-a knockoff of matala brand but same same😁

It’s a great add on option :)
