Before any of you say anything, I did try to replace the audio on the original video; however, due to the RUclips Editor's limitations, the option isn't possible. So, I decided to upload a newer version. The original will still be up for you to watch, but I highly recommend this one, mainly because of the improved audio.
This prologue is masterful. I rank this work as an all-time classic, not just of star wars novels, but in the great western literary tradition. This novel is as good as Dickens or Dostoevsky and easily the greatest of the Star Wars novels. This is Luceno's magnum opus.
I listened to this audiobook when I used to work security….. always grasping for something more. After this I listened to the darth bane trilogy. Partly in my old job and after when I worked at a school. The Star Wars audiobooks are truly amazing and pull you in the galaxy so in a moment…… even if small….. you are in the galaxy far far away……. And not in this despicable reality.
I mean the owner of the IP by definition gets to decide what is and isn’t canon to said IP lol. You can have headcanons of course, and we can all recognize that Star Wars legends has many great stories (so does Disney-era SW imo), but you aren’t the be-all-end-all when it comes to determining canon lmao But in regard to this novel, at least most if not all of it is likely to be canonized. We are just gonna learn more about what Plagueis did between killing his master and selecting Palpatine via the Acolyte and hopefully other future content
@@williamshepherd5990 No. I reject that idea. Copyright for stories is a relatively modern idea, and a terrible one. It should be done away with. Thousands of years of human history, people have created stories, then the culture iterates on it. This notion that companies own stories is complete crap and I reject it outright.
@@nspidel culture has iterated on Star Wars. During Lucas’s ownership, that would be known as the Expanded Universe. Force Unleashed, Dark Empire, the Thrawn trilogy, New Jedi Order, the Plagueis novel, etc etc all fell underneath that. And Lucas considered none of it part of his world, but allowed it to exist and gave publishers pointers. Then Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney, and they affirmed that everything outside of the movies and Clone Wars was not part of the official canon. But it’s not like those stories ceased to exist, you can still read them and they are still being reprinted. Copyright may be a relatively new concept, but literary/media canon is not lol. Canon maintains a franchise’s internal consistency, and whether you like it or not, an owner of a franchise is as authoritative of a source on canon v. non-canon as you can get. You have a headcanon, that’s fine. No one is stopping you. But “rejecting” the idea of an owner deciding what is canon to their story is crazy lmao
It matches up with canon, for the most part, to me. If I had to pick one Legends book to remain canon, this would be it, thanks to Luceno's masterful writing.
I’m glad that Disney Star Wars hasn’t made a show out of this. Because they would’ve butchered it shit on it and left it on the road to die. this book is too good to be led to be live action show
@@RealArcalian it’s Disney Star Wars. They’re gonna ruined the “Bane line of the Sith” and if Plagueis is in this show, I wouldn’t be surprised if they ruined or nerf him from what the books illustrates about him. The ruined Boba with his show and Obi-Wan with his show .. so it’s only legendary character they’re gonna shit on

This is canon. Forget Disney. Companies don't get to monopolize or dictate stories.
I agree this is canon.

Star Wars EU is true Star Wars this gives me enjoyment like no other franchise
Correct
This is Canon for me!
lmao hell yeah

At this point canon is all good Star wars
I agree.
Agreed, but I kinda want to see where Acolyte is going
Honestly, my favourite Star Wars book. I really loved Darth Bane and surprisingly the Dooku Audio Drama
This is also my favorite as well.

Is that not what Star Wars: The Acolyte was meant to be?
@@RealArcalian nope. Not even close

The acolyte should have been this story but thankfully Disney won’t get to ruin this, but I’m sure they will still screw up somehow
