How Do I Have A Motocross Track In The Middle Of A Neighborhood?

- "Do you have a motocross track in the middle of a neighborhood?" Yes, I do have a private motocross track in a residential community. For the first 15 years of having this mx track, there was nobody, no homes. But for the last 13 years, there has been. Having a dirt bike track in the middle of a neighborhood is pretty weird, even I am still getting used to it. I wish they weren't there, but there's nothing I can do. After about 100 requests, I finally made this video of my motocross track in the middle of houses and hopefully I answered your questions and let me know if you have any more.
Things are weird right now with not knowing if AMA Supercross or AMA Motocross will be back or not. Hopefully this will keep you entertained until we know what is going to happen with either of them!
If you would like to watch me build this new private mx track, here's episode 1: • Building my new motocr...
I also take my first ride on this track on my 2020 Honda CRF450R Works Edition using the GoPro Hero 8 if you want to check that out:

Don’t like the noise ? Then don’t buy a house next to a moto track.
That's like all the idiots ( in my town ) that buy a house right next to our airport that's been there for over 70 years then complain about the noise and want the airport shut down ....LOL How dumb can you get? 😳
did they not realize why the house was 30% less than the others they looked at??? ill jus shut it down cause i know someone, haaa...howd dat work out...tylers nicer than me cause they knew...id be chargin’ admission for practice weekends!!!! swear
Buddey’s life same honestly. It sucks they’re people like that out there, don’t care about what we do or how long we’ve been doing it. So long as they get their way and our tracks destroyed
Simple
There is a track a few miles from my house that has been there for 20+ years. All the houses around it knew about it and were fine. Some developers bought the land adjacent to one corner of it and built 3 or 4 million dollar homes on it. Within a year these new millionaire home owners had the track shut down due to noise. $ buys politicians, lawyers and judges.
You were there before the houses were!! End of discussion!!!
That's what real estate does close in on open property and take it over slowly but surely
@joe joe uhhh, you realize it’s Republicans involved in construction zoning / industry laws mainly right? Crazy how people make literally everything political.
tell that to the assholes that moved next to laguna seca, a famous track with tons of history from 1957, now they have to have noise limits and can only run a certain number of days per month, same story all over the country.
@@cyberworld9000 That all depends on where you live.
that doesnt work sadly....
its wierd cause u would think u put somewhere on a contract that you cant complain about having noise if you buiild/buy next ot a race track... on facebook people share a page of a race track that is like 30-50 year old and used to be all alone... now they build a hole city around it.. and now they gotta shut down there track... like cant you just say i was here befor you know where u build it so piss off.. but nope new houses win... that is like saying ow i wanna build a house next to the biggest airport in your country and then trying to get it shutdown for noice... but that aint gonna work cause they are rich....
That's enough for me to wanna move to that neighborhood
Frfr
Me 2
you could get a mad little motocross community going off everyone moves into the area be right good lol
Heck yeah!! I wanna move there.. now I know if I ever hit the lottery where to move to the city limits haha
@@dnickens20115 ikr
I'm sure 2 hours training each week is far less annoying then the A-holes running leaf blowers and landscaping crap at 730 am 4 days a week for 8 hours like they do around here....
that's what i like to think haha
i hear ya...although in my town they have a ban on that sort of stuff until 8 AM
Dude for real! I feel like people just have something against dirtbikes, they never complain about the people running their lawnmowers at like 7:30 am or for me pm
Fuck them...he was there first.
@@logansportpilotrp8174 lol that’s not how it works tho. Even if I’m with ya.
U should ride way more then 2-3 days a week
probably
Seriously, I get the whole curtisy thing but obviously they knew what they were moving next to when they bought the house, not like they were forced to move their. You have your own track, and u barely use it, that's crazy
@@tylermonks for sure bro, get your use out of it. you have the right to do that and it’s within the law, especially if they’re contracts even state that they are aware of the track before they even moved in. And the cop even said the decibels weren’t even loud enough for you to get in trouble. If your riding around 9-5 most people should be at work/doing chores or gone anyways. Keep holding charity events and stuff man and people will see what good it can bring to the community, maybe even invite the people from the area and have a community cook out there or something too and get to know them and talk to them more. The more people you get involved on your side the better chance you have of keeping it.
Dude screw the neighbors, if they had the chance they’d have you gone immediately, forget low use! Run what you want anytime I’d say.
Yeah that’s how you loose the track mate haha
@@cyberworld9000 technically not, it’s all about how you go about using it and the relationship you can build with the people around it. If your not using it or exercising it at all, that tends to be when rights do get stripped and slowly covered up.
Very considerate
Super cool. It’s funny that encroaching neighborhoods are built next to pre-existing loud areas like race tracks or air ports. Then the residents complain about noise. I’ve heard Washougal has to deal with the same issues.
ya it's nuts. It seems like it is happening everywhere
Pacific raceways has dealt with this as well. So Pacific raceways bought the houses of the people that were bitching then they sold the houses to racers at a discount.
Those noise-karens can fuck off. If i had a track and my neighbor complained i would get a really loud dog and let it loose in the backyard.
And Woodland....
@@iam106racing2 love that 🤣👌
It’s so frustrating this happens everywhere, all these tracks are here 15+ years before anyone thought about building homes there. You shouldn’t have to worry about respecting the neighbors, they saw the track when they looked at the house
We can play the “before” game too. Native Americans where “here first” maybe they should come down and boot you and your moto track off “their land”?
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 stfu with that bs were talking motocross you dumb libtard
@benedictcumberbatch4275 shit happened hundreds of years ago get over it have a good Columbus day
@@CrimsonJohn-vo2ou well when they kick you off your track then you can do the same lol
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 Which ones? Because the natives were killing each other and stealing land way before the settlers ever arrived. The original inhabitants that journeyed across the land bridge from modern day Mongolia were all killed off long ago by other inhabitants. Their isn't a single living descendant of them left which means there is no rightful person to return the land to.
How is there not a single person who rides in that neighborhood
Rich, fat and lazy dickheads who just complain about everything
I wouldn’t say rich.... that looks like a standard middle class neighborhood. But most likely old, fat, lazy, and it’s hard to get into a sport like this if you don’t grow up with it
There likely are a few... I would expect some curious kids would watch from on top of the fence.. especially the jumps... then ask their parents for a dirtbike :)
They can't complain the track was there before the houses
yet still people still complain and places get shut down cause of it
@@prestigetradingfx yup... even if you been there first and was nobody around... they still get you shut down succesfully
Some home owners on a local island complained about the navy landing their planes at the base. They tried to get it all shut down after they all knowingly had houses built there. Uncle Sam told em to get fucked. Hopefully this guy can do the same if it ever comes to it.

That’s a beautiful track no matter where it’s located 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I can just picture the moto community this neighborhood could be instead of people walking their dogs in the morning you got guys rolling out of their garage to go rip.
Right I would be one of those guys
Same, I'd buy a house just to have a chance of playing around in the pit.
dude i’d buy a house and rip every day with him
LMAO
>Moves next to motocross track

That's the most boomer thing ever
Look into the Leguna Seca racetrack in California. Same circumstance, and the little guy always loses.
@@jth_printed_designs Same thing happened to san jose speedway and shut down all the sprint car races they used to have there.
It’s like buying a house near an airport and then complaining about plane noise
Or people who bought houses on a golf course. And complained about mowers in the morning
@@OTAlucard ...and the occasional ball landing in their yard
100 yard wide open whoops section next to the houses. Maybe big air, seat bounce jumps there instead?..less noise and they could have a front row seat to watch you catch air. 😆 💪
I know the simple answer is “don’t like the noise don’t move there” but it’s still nice that you limit it and try to be respectful
Why would you do that when you have the rights to do what ever you want I mean I I get where your coming from some
@@5G1T7 I mean I get that sentiment, but at the same time it's almost not worth the fighting and eventual legal BS that comes with goading your neighbours by pissing them off.
Hearts and minds and all that. This guy is being nice so as to preserve what he has instead of having to fight for it. At some point he might have to, but it's best to try to win them over by being a good neighbour vs doing the opposite just because you can.
People use that argument every time. If we went by their logic, there wouldn’t be any place to move to. Lol
@benedictcumberbatch4275 the holes in your logic are immense, but I don't have time for all of them. But this one especially; there is absolutely no need for housing developments. Not to this size. They put them in places where there are things like this, specifically to overpower the locals. Just like walmart did, to get rid of local grocery stores
@@40ozPres how do you know?
I'd still be ridding more hahahah
yeah, with the muffler removed. See how they like it then
I mean shit I wouldn’t give a damn. You’re 100% legal
Still easy for people with money to cause endless legal battles. He’s doing the smart move.
A lot of things are legal, but are still inconsiderate to neighbors.
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 It's inconsiderate to move some place knowing ahead of time the activity that goes on there and then complaining about it.
@@tommoore2012 You can’t own an area because you “ride” somewhere lol. Take yourselves way out in the woods if you like to ride loud. Btw I own a gas bike myself, but I know better than to ride a high rpm dirt bike where people want to live in peace.
O wow ! I almost feel old. Born in Colo Spgs 1961. 1st mx race at Aztec in 1977 on a 1974 Suzuki TM 125. Thanks for the video it was really cool.
Nice track! It's nice that you are still able to enjoy it, but being considerate to you neighbors is awesome. The world needs more people like you. Bravo!
So glad I found this! Keep doing your thing. I live in the neighborhood and my boys like to watch from the fence. I don’t get to ride enough so I enjoy listening and living vicariously through you. Doesn’t bother me one bit!
I remember when we ( me and my neighbors) had a lot that we turned into a BMX track. This reminds me of that, I stumbled on this, you all gave back and that makes a massive difference. Good for you on your learning in your life and being considerate to your neighbors! Don't stop doing you!
That's really cool to know a little history about that track. I do believe that we would be interested in knowing even more about it. Thanks for the inspiring insight around this awesome track. Looking forward to another. Great job, great video.
Dude I grew up in Co Springs. Always saw pictures of this on Facebook and it blew my mind. Cool to see the history behind it. Live in Oklahoma now, my buddy Trey Canard said the track looks super sick and the video was really well done. 🤙🏼
that's awesome haha. We know Trey a little bit, glad you showed it to him!
Name drop much? Lol. I would too if I knew anybody who had any fame at all.
MY buddy Trey lol FLEX on these Heaux
The charity ride was a great idea. If you could somehow give to the community it could help people tolerate your riding.
Love Colorado Springs, I grew up over near RockRimmon. We are still holding on to some of our heritage, keep fighting to keep suburbia at bay!
I'm so glad I happened upon this video. Super interesting. I am so envious. As a dirt bike enthusiast growing up in a suburban northeastern U.S town, it was always a struggle to find a place to ride that you wouldn't get kicked out of. This place is a dream. Thanks for sharing.
I know guys that worked at Monks in AZ. I saw the logo in the intro on the scrapers and was like, "oh, cool". Then I realize you are a Monks, then I realize your track is on site at RE Monks. How cool
They knew where they moved to is right..but I'd miss riding in solitude..yet if I moved there would want to ride almost everyday! Nice history and your connection to that land
This was one of the most interesting videos I’ve seen in a bloody long time on RUclips! Love that track history! 👊
I’d love to live in one of those houses and have such convent track usage.
Even when not riding it’s be awesome to sit out there and watch other riders go at it! 🔥👌
Now I want to buy a house in that neighborhood because of the track lol
That's exactly the problem. You're a responsible and respectful rider and you have a legal side. People will always complain and think the grass is greener if they bitch about it enough.... in this case the track being gone. What they don't realize is the next morning a mobile crusher could show up and run all day long 5 days a week. They'll be wishing they had the track back. But they never admit that.
Something to help with the neighbors if possible is to ride durning the weekday during work hours. Track home neighborhoods like that are 98% working class people and those neighborhoods are empty during the week while the kids are at school and parents are at work. Weekends are the polar opposite and people are trying to spend time together and the sounds of a thumper rattling the house is what gets people pissed off. Any way, DONT GIVE IN! Hold your ground! That’s your land and your track that existed before those houses ever existed, so when push comes to shove DO NOT LAY DOWN and let them illegally or “legally” steal your rights and property without putting up a helluva fight. Our sport is being attacked like it’s a nuclear war, we must fight and preserve every inch the enemy hasn’t stolen yet.
Is the track still up and running I would love to come ride for a couple hours
The quality of the vids are amazing!!
I live in springs and had no idea that was out east! I saw those mountains and thought noo way. This is awesome man!
DUDE! I LIVED IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD!
Halfway through the video I started to realize that everything matched up, the place, the time frames of the neighborhoods progression, and the maps! If you go straight across that street and down Red Cardinal Loop, There's a street named Quaking Aspen Trail that I used to live on. Every weekend I would try to go and watch the bikes, but I couldn't always go.
Either way, this video just immediately earned my sub. Man that's awesome!
Where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Tyler, thanks for explaining all of this in detail. It's a pretty unique situation for sure. You have every right to be riding out there even if you wanted to practice every single day. Like you said, the owners of those houses knew what they were moving into when they signed their closing paperwork. For myself, being a motorcycle and dirt bike enthusiast, I would be out there every day spectating or asking if I could ride on the track. My boys (3 and 5) would be sitting on the fence and watching non-stop as well. Hey, maybe you've even inspired some of the kids growing up in those houses to become dirt bike riders!
We're in the process of buying 35 acres up in Park county, CO. I have about 5 acres of pasture land that I would like to build a beginner motocross track for my boys (and myself). I could also link it to a woods section in the back of the property for some GNCC-style racing. Let me know if you would be interested in a job like this since it looks like you have access to earth moving equipment and the know-how in the construction of motocross tracks.
Again, thanks for the videos!
-Andy in Colorado
Just came upon this video and my video from the ride day you put in there!! That’s awesome so see that and reminisce on that day!! Track is so sick
Just like the Denver airport, They built it in the middle of nowhere and house are being built out towards it so they can't complain because it was there first. What sucks is if they took out motocross track they would just put in soccer or softball fields. Great video!
awsume T!!! thanx for sharing this story, lotta of time to put that together! we all have had our track issues with neighbors...def a great mini doc! thx paul bryant
Screw the neighbours ride your track every day and qualify
Awesome video! We live in Mtn. Shadows and people move here and complain about the noise from the training flights from the Air Force Academy.... I don't understand that thinking.
I think myself and anyone in NJ can say we can barely (if at all) ride ANYWHERE HERE. They build condos and apartments on top of anything that used to be fair game, or people call the cops for noise complaints if we ride in other places. Or, we have the lovely ATV/off road truck drunk squad that gets state troopers and cops attention quick, too. Sick video dude. I envy you but in a good way.
I heard about this track around Feb 2020 when I was working and staying in Fountain. Never got any real info besides its private but this randomly popped up and answered all the questions I had
Thanks for this video. I have a small track that like yours, did not have houses around it when it was built. I had to deal with water conservation officials regarding its layout (because they claimed parts of the track were not set back far enough from wetland areas. Rather than fight them on this issue (even though I could probably win, as the entire area was once a cornfield), I complied and changed the layout ... causing me to lose some of the track in the process. Like you, I have limited riding to a few days each week, and shortened the amount of time spent riding on those days as well. I still do get some complaints though. One homeowner has even asked me to text him whenever I plan to ride (so he can make plans to be somewhere else ... so he says) and I occasionally get texts from him asking me not to ride when he is entertaining. I try to comply most of the time, but it's a bit like being under the thumb of someone with a controlling personality, and I don't like that feeling at all. I know my days are numbered, and I've looked into electric bikes as an option ... but feel they're just not there yet. The 2 biggest issues seem to be noise and dust suppression. I feel that if I can get those things under control, the complaints will stop. I don't have the money for a water truck, but I did build a small (about 300 gallons) water trailer to keep the dust down. But the pump empties the tank so fast it really doesn't help that much because the track dries out before I can refill the tank and water it again. I'm holding on by a thread. Good luck to you and your endeavors. I hope you're able to keep the track long enough to continue the remainder of your racing career. It's sad, but unfortunately there are lots of people who are using their money and influence to shut down recreational uses of land like this. Seems like an unwinnable battle sometimes, as these people are often the type that are not content with concessions made so both sides can enjoy what they love to do. These folks don't want any slice of the pie going to the opposition. They're not happy unless you're unhappy it seems.
Instead of hitting the track just go ride in front of their house. see which they prefer
I'd move into the neighborhood just to brap all day.
Man I saw that track like 8 years ago driving by and have been wondering how it’s still there. I knew there had to be something to allow it. Awesome stuff, would love to check it out sometime.
What coty, state is it in?
Very sweet looking track. I used to live in Colorado Springs and I remember seeing Josh Hansen's full size Supercross track in his front yard.
Screw em. I grew up in Falcon before it turned into what it is now. I used to work for Kiewit and it broke my heart when we expanded the intersection of Woodmen and BF. I knew exactly what was coming. Keep on keeping on!
I’d buy a house there, shit if I had a moto track in my back yard I’d ride every day😂
This is badass bro, made me miss living in the springs myself back when I was stationed at Carson from 2001 to 2004 and left there in 05....
DUDE!! this is awesome!! I wish I had one this close!! I have one probably a mile away but it would be awesome to have one this close!!
So cool thanks for sharing!
Hay its Mitch the scooter man. Love your vids
My kids would love watching this out the back window!
Imagine if we all bought a house here... only riders wantin to ride an love the sound of a bike !! Love the track man
100 percent legit ... They encroached on your space and you are still bing considerate :)
What's the address ? 😂
off of mockorange heights in colorado springs i had to find it to see what it looked like on maps 😂
Nice 👍 I grew up in Littleton and rode Thunder Valley as much as I could. Also love riding at Rampart. Sweet track tho
Pretty cool for any kiddos that can get a look over the fence and watch!
Hell with the houses, your to nice. I am Canadian and we are known for being to nice. You were there first, permitted as a construction company, and they signed a waiver when purchasing their house. If it were my track, and it is a lovely track, I would be riding all day long. Good luck and all the best with your pro racing career. Toronto, Canada
That is that noise, that is a melody
Really great story man!! From WESTERN Australia myself!!
I would ride until they all moved out !!
Yeah the go buy all the cheap houses. Turn the track into a nice park and sell the houses 😂😂
That's why this world is so messed up it's full of hatred people don't want other people to have fun they just want to complain about everything and anything. But hang in there keep having fun and you look fast brother good job on your dirt bike!
I would sit on my roof and watch almost all day. I really wanna go to a track but no one ever has time to take me 😔 I’ll get out one day I know
At least there is a solid sound barrier between the track and the houses, doyble fenced as well.
That's cool. Dude you dont need to be nice. Do your thing, ride on.
Exactly
Nothing like waking up to the sound of 2 stroke.
Ur a legened!!! Good on ya mate.
It should jus be rezoned and made a community moto track. It and u are an asset to ur community. Respect from Aus!
Wow! Some really old footage. I was hired by Novick to photograph Pat, Brett, and the other team riders. I’m all over this video. Might have even had dinner after with you and your dad.

Dude. That's like a dream to live in a house like that! Unfortunately, the only bikes I own at the moment are 2 CRF 70s for my kids to ride on my father's acre. I'd LOVE to have a place to ride a proper mx bike again.

And I thought Wildrose MX track in Calgary was the only one. Sweet track and views of mountains!
I'm pretty sure they seen the track when they bought those monopoly home's!!
This was fucking awesome! My town shit me down when I was 17-18 for having an fmx ramp set up in my yard so to see you are still going strong is amazing. No thought of getting riders to buy up the houses along the fence or running a moto school? Do you have to walk the track before you ride to make sure no @$$hole tossed nails or debris on to the track?? Still blown away. Hope it never closes! Stay rippin man🤙🏼
Interesting, I am not a track person so Captain Jacks, Penrose Commons (yes there is signletrack) and stuff off Mt Herman Rd, then the other usual like Rampart Range OHV area and 717, Rianbow Falls and then trips etc. I got to have rocks and logs and just slow technical gnar. Still cool though you were able to get around issues. Not like someone can not try and bribe and get zoning changed. I'm always amazed at how people don't pay attention to where they buy.
I see so many people saying “the track was there first why do you care what they think” or along them line and the answer is simple... he’s a nice guy and truthfully I doubt anyone making those comments ride 🤣
Looks like paradise!
Ok. Where you at? I will try and move there and I will push to get more riding time for you or whomever wants to ride. I will even leave my windows open so I can smell the race fuel. Keep it going!
