As a bass player that doesn't play in bands anymore, the creative possibilities of this bass is making me feel giddy and has me smiling ear to ear! Can't believe I've never heard of these before now. Finally a bass vi for actual bass players! ❤
Until I saw this I had no interest in this bass at all. In you hands RJ, it sounds amazing. If you have any interest in being a bass player who stands out, you should think about this bass.
sadly mine was pretty much junk too and sounded like a generic stingray copy in the lower register. No way was mine checked and setup before sending out as there were multiple flaws and even finger smudges in the paint job . It was so bad I had to get a refund (ser no ***156) . I managed to record it though if anyones interested and as of yet i haven't heard another record with the Eastwood Hooky on - ruclips.net/video/B2Nb9jBcRk8/видео.html
For a short scale beginner bass, I'd recommend a Fender Player Mustang. Almost half the cost of the Hooky and likely twice the quality. And I'd start with 4 strings- give your fingers a little room to breathe.
If you're like me, who wants to learn bass and guitar at the same time, I'd take this. I just got one, and it feels and sounds great. Now I can play guitar and bass with just one instrument. Granted, it does cost roughly $1300, but in my personal experience, it was worth every dime.
If only the production models of the Hooky Bass 6 sounded this good out of the box. Dont buy this bass unless you want to spend more money off the bat to take it to someone who actually knows how to set a guitar up because Eastwood sure doesn't care for setting up a $1200 instrument...
Not who you're asking, but there was three major issues with mine out of the box: a couple nut slots were too shallow, so those open strings buzzed on the zero fret. The string radius was set perfectly on the saddles, but the string height was obnoxiously high, past the 12th fret was very uncomfortable to play. Had to crank the truss rod a bit to straighten the neck out, and I had to bottom out the outer saddles to get it to a good height while also following the fretboard radius. It's still not really as low as I'd like it, but it's fine now. I wouldn't say the latter two things are an issue because you're gonna have to set up any instrument, whether it be $100 or $2000, but the shallow nut slots are a common issue on them and at this price point it's kinda obnoxious to have to deal with.
Had no problems with mine, which was supposedly "B-stock" (might even be the very one RJ is using in the video) although I can't find anything wrong with it.
Is your car seat adjusted for you when you buy a new car? A setup is basic maintenance you do yourself. Now if there are any glaring mechanical issues I'd like to hear about them.
sounds so good but oh my god i dont think an uglier instrument exists. Obv no hard feelings for the guys at eastman....just modelling it off of something thats famous. But... wow
I think it looks neat but style is subjective. Not really Eastwood's fault, as you said it's based off another model. The only thing off-putting about it to me is that gold pickguard, white or black would look so much better

Okay, that distortion part at the end made me want this bass more than I already did to begin with.
RJ Ronquillo is the best.
Got get me one of these. Awesome demo, dude!
I just love this! ❣️🔥
This is the sound I've been looking for!!! Gotta get my hands on one of these
Oh, yes you do! It's in stock now: eastwoodguitars.com/products/hooky-bass-6-pro
@@eastwoodguitarsofficial Awesome! I'm looking at the website and there's a good selection of Bass VI's, like the SideJack and TB64
@@eastwoodguitarsofficial I also like this model in particular because it looks more like a bass compared to the Fender and Squires.
@@WhereTheBASShasNoName we also have a Baritone version of this model: eastwoodguitars.com/products/eastwood-hooky-baritone-pro

Great demo. I wonder what the percentage of purchases were made solely by New Order fans?

I'd love to play the riff from "Don't Fear..." on this thing. I don't know if it's worth dropping $1200 to do it though!
Awesome demo.
Please let Ron demo the RG Special.
We've got a demo for the RG Special! Check it out: ruclips.net/video/7LBzKWdmY-c/видео.htmlsi=sD7RVDnJkFMYl3Bu

Them: Take the Fender/Squier Bass VI & make it better.

Would love to hear it without effects (or maybe just compressor, but without chorus)
Wow
Basically a shergold marathon bass reissue
duh
🙄😂🥳
Is it a good beginner guitar?
It's a bass technically, so I'd imagine it's not too good for starting out on *guitar* if that's what you're thinking.

Was it really that bad? I'd imagine all you need to do is adjust the string height and the truss rod. Was there more to it?
you said its bad, didnt even bothered to say why, and expect me to believe you?

Bass amp?
Finally someone not playing this bass with a pick lol
I almost feel like playing this particular bass with a pick sounds better than with fingers.

Idk, it reminds me of a tele, but better
It looks better after you cover it in stickers... see Hooky's bass.
It's ugly beautiful which I find far more interesting and intriguing.
My taste in women is the same...

What amp and fx?
It was a bass preset in Helix
@@RJRonquillo wow! You sold me on Helix :0
@@BarnacleButtock I used to want to get the Variax that they made but the Helix sounds so close to what it's emulating.
