Red Skelton wasn't just a legendary comedian, he was a great patriot. Rest in peace, Red.
He was also a Christian....
He also composed music. I was blessed to see him perform live once. I was so happy.
The flag of the United States And to the Republic, for which it stands.
I didn't hear democracy in there anywhere, maybe it's because our political form of government is meant to be a constitutional republic!!!!!!
I am an Iranian immigrant to the United State. In 1977 at the age of eleven we moved to America for one year. The first time I heard the pledge of allegiance it was in 6th grade at our school in Peterborough New Hampshire. And boy did I fall in love, not with one of the girls at school but with the pledge of allegiance and this great country! In 1979 we immigrated on a permanent basis to America and in 1996 I was honored to become a naturalized US citizen! And yes my whole family has since become Christians. God continue to bless America!
Then you Sir, are a better AMERICAN than many who were born here and take it ALL for granted.

Probably the greatest break down of what the pledge of allegiance really means, even stupid people can understand it, I wish our educated could.

@Dave Clark Dave I thought I was getting off of here, I have a spinal injury also but not from serving the country, my father was a prisoner of war my whole family including my nieces and nephew serve this country I was disabled born that way but I did get that awful virus I’m on oxygen I can’t hardly see I’m using it I can’t remember the name of it Dow is the severe on here so long magnifying glass I started out on God bless the USA and seen all the petty comments so I stopped to pray for them and leave a comment I started out on July 15, 2022 it is now 3:02 AM July 16 I’m still recovering from that awful terrible virus I’m on oxygen and I can’t walk Atlanta I’m trying to get better I love this country I thank you for your service my dad was a prisoner of war I don’t know if I said that already I am so tired but I promise Lord I would do this and he woke me up this morning to pray for America and that’s what I’m doing so God bless you I don’t know how much I can go on but I’m trying to serve my country and my God by doing this God bless you God bless America

I'm 71 years old and I loved watching Red Skelton on TV in the 1950s and 60s. He was a very, funny man! Danny Kaye was another favorite! Two very, very, funny, funny men!

Also there’s no rule that says prayer or praying should not be allowed in public schools or places. What is prohibited is requiring a specific church or religion should be forced on the public. All of the founding fathers as far as history shows us believed in a Providence (aka Creator or God); most of them read the Bible regularly. They also prayed before making decisions.

Throughout the years I have watched this video numerous times and it still brings a tear and theres so much meaning to it.
I can remember when in elementary school and the whole class stood facing the flag and recite it every day.
I also watched Red Skelton do this pledge on the Ed Sullivan show.
Shame how now our country is being divided and torn apart.
I was a little girl riding in my Pops car hearing this. Even then it was powerful enough to instill a sense of patriotism that has never left me.

All those years ago and he nailed it,
I met this wonderful gentleman in 1977 when I was still in my 20's, working at the front desk of a resort. He took the time to spend about an hour to me and to the bellman and any other guests walking by. He treated all of us like we were his best friends and he was especially humble and positive in his comments.
At the end of the conversation, I told him to have a good day. He quickly replied, "Young man, the day is half over; have a good life." His voice was gentle and humble, just as in this video and when he would end his weekly TV shows with, "Good night and God bless."
I still remember it like it was yesterday and I am in my 70's now. Thank you, Mr. Skelton. What a true inspiration to us all!

I noticed there were some people that didn't like this they either cannot hear or have no comprehension of the English language, Red was obviously a fine man and a good comedian and also a great American. I miss his humor.

@@m10s13h49 He notes “Under God” was added at the end. The time he was referring to in this was when he was a child as he referenced the “48 states” (also noted at the end that two states had been added since then). “Under God”’ was added in the 50’s.

I watch this today July 4th 2022 and watched Red Skelton and thought about him and think about the person that does Red Skelton name Brian Hoffman in pigeon forge Tennessee and as we were just in Vincennes Indiana two weeks ago for a Red Skelton days and I had to cry cuz I pray that this country comes back to God in the name of Jesus not nothing no man can do but what God can do God bless everybody out there on this July 4th from Kentucky
Seems our leaders of today need to hear this. " Power given to them by the people " They have all forgotten this one thing.

So pleased that this is back on utube, especially with the 4th of July being tomorrow. The one thing I remember about Red Skeleton is, he said, “I never said a dirty word or made a dirty jester, but I made people laugh” that’s talent and a person one can respect and love 💕.
We truly need more Red Skeletons.
