Wow! This really brings back some memories. Was stationed there twice, 1960 -1963 and 1979 - 1980. I was with 28 Signal Regiment. Got married there in 1963, to a wonderful girl in the WRAC, in the RC church, Father Tobin I remember. 1 Daughter, 1 Granddaughter and 2 Great Grand children now. sadly my wife Kim, is no longer with us. The thing that always struck me between my two times there and this video is how trees take over the place!
Thank you - haunting music, I was stationed there 1969/71 and lived in the accommodation in Beresford Road down past the Globe Cinema opposite the cookhouse. (Maggie Innes)
@@willemgijs3803 I found it less like a military base than any other base I've lived on. Of course if you're in the working areas it's hard to ignore the vehicles and compounds but the precinct and the married quarters didn't feel any different to a normal estate. I suppose we get used to all bases we live on and maybe a civilian would think differently I don't know, JHQ seemed the least like a base to me though
Brings back so many memories. Went to Queens school, and lived on Argyle Drive. Lived there 73 /76.

Me too 28th at same time, and then got posted to St Tonis.

the best three years of my life.
Well, that's depressing to see it in that state. Good memories.
Well that was a haunting trip through my memories. So strange to see a bustling village deserted
It's a military base not a village ayy
@@willemgijs3803 I lived and worked there for 3 years. To my wife and children it was like a village.
@@mixerfistit5522 ah cool. is it like living in a normal village. Or like really different?
