Diamond Buying Basics
First, determine the diamonds shape. Alpha discusses each with a chart and recommends selecting 'round' because it's always in style & in vogue, and she'll always love it. Other options are emerald cut , princess cut, heart, radiant, oval, marquise, asscher, and pear.
Next the four Cs are discussed:
Color - colorless is the best quality with near colorless next to the best (D,E,F,G,H). Slightly tinted, faint yellow, very light yellow, and light yellow round out the not desirable (I - Z).
Clarity - inclusions are spots that are out-of-place and less clear. The less inclusions, the more expensive the diamond. Alpha discusses with a chart (IF, VVS1, VS1, SI1, I1)
Cut - Alpha discusses the versions which dictate what the diamond looks like. The sparkle is more lustrous from the 'ideal' cut diamond: very shallow, shallow, ideal, deep, very deep).
Carat - the carat is the weight of the diamond and correlates to the size of the diamond.
The setting is the band and prongs that the diamond is set-in and can make the diamond look 20% larger. Buy what you can afford. Set your budget and upgrade later. Buying online can afford you a bigger diamond at a lower price.

Great video. Just wanted to point out a few things. Flawless diamonds have a clarity of FL (flawless), which means there are no internal inclusions or surface blemishes. IF stands for internally flawless, which means there are no internal inclusions, but surface blemishes may still exist.
Also, inclusions aren't just black spots. They can also be feathers, graining, etc. Fewer inclusions and surface blemishes both contribute to the appearance and value of a diamond.
If someone would ever propose to me, any enagagement ring will do as long as the intention is sincere and it came from the one I truly loved.

Thank you for another informative and entertaining video. When I bought my wife her engagement ring, I was particularly baffled by the color and clarity options. I really had no clue and didn’t really understand it when it was explained to me. I think you did a good job of demystifying the options by explaining them in a clear and simple way. Save money on buying a “lab created diamond”. Its composed of the same
material of a real diamond that was dug up from the earth. It’s still a real diamond.
They are gorgeous as well. Why buy some “good enough” rock that came out of the earth when you could buy lab-created perfection for even less? It is a win win. Moissanite is another good option, although you want to get a good quality quality stone.

It's also very important how you prioritize the 4 C's. Cut should always be first. After that it's personal preference. I like 1 Cut. 2 Carat. 3 Color. 4 Clarity.

All about the 4Cs! Used to worked as a trader in London's Hatton Garden district, so thankfully have some experience with this.
Pro tip - buy a high quality estate engagement ring (the diamond only), get it apprised by GIA, and then buy a new setting. You'll save literally thousands and it will look new and be certified.

Get yourself a Moissanite ring. Its nearly as strong as Diamond. Its Cheaper and has more fire and light dispersion than a diamond.

If you live in California, I suggest you visit the Jewelry District in Los Angeles. There are so many great and helpful business people there. There are many craftsman there that allow you to customize your jewelry :) They have loose gems, pearls, and bands. They can even work with other jewelers :) Cool web alternative though

The only problem with James Allen is the VAT when importing to Europe is not included in the prices shown on the website. Blue Nile (shows prices including import VAT) is cheaper when you account for the VAT. Also the 500-600 euro prices of just the 14k rings at JA are just ridiculous when you can get a 18k ring for 400 euros from Blue Nile. So Blue Nile all the way unless they're giving at least an 80% discount for the rings at James Allen.

My husband bought a 250 dollar engagement ring from ebay. It broke 2 months later (fake diamonds fell off and yellow gold changed color).
I asked my husband to buy me a better engagement ring and he told me "suck it up. Deal with what you have and fuck off."
So I bought a nice engagement ring by myself with my own money.... I was sad and depressed.... So guys, please. I know engagement rings are expensive but it's important for girls. If you really love her, go get the one she loves.
If you're going for a rose gold setting, do not waste your money on a high color grade. A J is the highest you'll need. An H actually looks better than an F in rose gold!!! The pink offsets the yellow.

In my experience many women are equally unaware of the three remaining C's. The selection at my local jewelers was quite shallow, but I found a nice diamond to fit my budget with less decimals of a carat, but clear, almost colorless, and with an awesome setting. It was also nice to school her about the stone after she said yes. Take your time at the bright lights of the shop and don't be shy to ask for the loop to get a closer look.

I've been working in jewelry store for nearly 3 years, and you get my seal of approval. Just be careful with shopping online, make sure diamonds you buy are certified by a legitimate grading lab - GIA is the best.

This video didn't really help me out. I would like to know how to ask for ring sizes while being discrete. An engagement ring is supposed to be a surprise. I've yet to figure this most important part out. Who cares about the daimonds details if the ring doesn't even fit!

The only reason that we like diamonds is the light refraction. Also, if you want a diamond with the specifications that he pointed out will set you back $5-10k dollars. Anything less than that; you will get a grey looking diamond with inclusions and a poor cut. If you like the glitz, or are a perfectionist go for a moissanite they double the light refraction of diamonds, or get a white sapphire. I personally would settle for a supar quality diamond, nor would pay $5-10k dollars for a diamond that is worth half to one-fourth the price in the resale market. Diamonds are just like cars; nobody wants “used” diamonds.
Though a lot of people can't afford the real diamond 💎. So why go to another alternative moissanite or lab diamonds.
When I found out he is now my husband, but at the time boyfriend. I told his friend hey show him this site super cheap around 200 and below I think I don't remember exactly because the last the last time I checked well it's been awhile, but I saw prices between 180 and below. I saw reviews on the site making sure it wouldn't turn, but women who have rings from the site still love them and have not turned on them. So far my ring looks nice was cheap and only was 120 around there. 1000 is too expensive for a ring. I mean if the ring is going to help our marriage last longer then ok I see why it's expensive, but I mean come on its a material ring. What matters is that our marriage last forever. We are still happily married only 4 years, but we were together 3 years before that. Now I'm pregnant so exciting 😄.
