I grew up on the coast and I’d never go out in an open boat when there’s swells , rogue waves aren’t that uncommon especially when the wind is getting up and the tide is on the turn, glad you all survived as it looked very bad , you were all lucky 👍
Glad you guys are okay, Jordan’s communications skills during all that are actually incredibly impressive. His guide instincts kicked in. Marlin saving his wife as well. Unbelievable reactions from you all, captain especially. Huge plus for Little listening to Jordan and staying focused.
I love how afterwards Marlin wouldn't let go of wifey, kudos. Also props to Little man for being a trooper. Sean went right for the camera, straight dedication. Thanks for being okay, dewders.
Glad you decided to share and keep it real. Truly shows how quick you can go from relaxing fishing outing to fight for your life survival. Really kind words about your fanbase man, I'm sure the fans me included really like your content keep up the great work guys!
I live on the coast and there are definitely days in the summer where its so surprisingly calm you can get very complacent. so thank you for uploading, educating and reminding us to keep your head on a swivel hope Sharon makes it back out
Don’t often think of what we do for fun as a dangerous activity, but this is a great reminder. Sounded like Jordan was hanging off the side yelling “hit the bilge!” Having an experienced group is a huge plus for you guys! Lastly, glad Sharon is okay!
I broke my leg steelheading last year by myself on the river... it was -11C and windchill was bringing it closer to -20. i was in the middle of a low river bed waiting for my contact to come pick me up and help me off the river... lucky i was in cell service otherwise id have had to do some pretty crazy crawling in the snow.
@@dalekoop2207 Super lucky! Its easy to get away from cell service chasing steelhead. I always tell my wife where Im going and when I expect to be off the water, message her when I get on the water and when I get off the water and very rarely go out alone. I was doing it mostly for her piece of mind, but seeing this video made me realize it may save me someday.
F that! So glad you all made it back alive! Man Sean looks like he got whiplash! Always good to be with an experienced captain for sure! I prefer for you to show the realness and the reality of being out in the water. Bringing awareness to the dangers of boating might save some other lives! Keep it up and stay safe!
Marlin thanks for showing this video. It's so important to wear life jackets no matter what the river or ocean conditions are. So glad you all were safe and sound. Mr fishy recipe looked awesome. Great video.
Strangely enough, Trippin' on Trout had a similar experience recently. Again, another experienced waterman, and still, the water wanted to show who was the gaffer. Do not EVER get complacent. Complacency kills. Glad you're all ok. Stay frosty!!!!
One of the reasons why I always wear automatic inflatable PFD when on boat at sea, lake or river. Someone could've hit their head and go overboard without vest right there and the whole thing happened quickly - too late to start reaching for vests then. Way too many people die while fishing just because they don't care about safety, and you never know what happens. Wear them and wear them right, so they actually help you once you need them. It's best kind of insurance you can have when you invest on good and comfy PFD, wear it and maintain it every couple years and keep it in good shape. Glad you guys made it out alive - love your content!
Great job RJ. As a captain, you always gotta be ready for anything and remember that those you have on board trust and depend on you to keep them safe. Way to stay calm and get control of the situation.
As a person who spends a ton of time on the ocean in an alumaweld it is a dangerous place and don't ever underestimate it even on the best days. That being said I'm so glad you guys are ok, good captain, crew and boat. Stay safe out there guys, love the channel
From one captain to another... While there are several causes of rogue waves. Been reading/learning over the years that they are quite common around rockshelfs where swift deep water currents meet land and are forced upward violently, forming the unseen / unexpected wave. Inevitable with shifting tidal action and choppy seas like you had. Limit your time on sites like that. Get in, get out. Live to get a full limit another day. Glad you all are ok, and great job. Everyone reacted like experienced pros. Great thinking putting all your weight on one side to right the ship. ... And for saving your passenger. Awesome video. Great learning lesson for all of us. The Ocean is no joke. She's like a honey badger... Sdgaf
Nice you guys have positive attitude about the situation and each individual instead of being upset at the captain that you got into that situation. Best example ever of why it's good to have an inflatable pfd on at all times. Doesn't do any good if it's not on your body. Glad everyone made it out okay 👍
Life jackets are a must, even on days you think you’re ok. Too many variables and other people you can’t account for. By the time you need a life jacket, and you’re not wearing one, it’s too late. Glad you guys are all safe and you just have a cool story to tell.
Keep yourselves alive fellas! Thanks for the vids. And I know this is not your fault, but I am seeing A LOT of wrapping from twitching jigs just thrown on the bank. These guys need to pick up trash, we are losing land to fish because of trash. Addicted makes gear to fish and they ALWAYS remind to pick up trash c'mon fishermen we are stewards of the rivers, let's keep 'em clean!🤙🎣
omg addicts....wow that was so scary!! i had to watch that part several times just to get the magnitude of that wave and how sideways that boat got!ive been in that ocean so many times and have a few close calls myself.im so glad your captain had the presense of mind to keep it together and motor out of that thing!huge props to him!the crabs were freaking huge and that stuffed crab fillets omg forget about it....yummers!!! good job to everyone and see you on the next one! addicted for life!!!!!
What a blessing to have all reacted accordingly to the most unexpected moment. And a *HUGE* thank you to the Captain RJ. No doubt he saved everyone's lives with his fast reaction and lifetime of experience! I am so relieved you are all alright and safe. I thought Little was going to.... well, for heaven's sake put on his doggy lifejacket for him please! Because, obviously, you just never know! Jordan!! You out-did-yourself with that recipe!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤Love you all!! ❤❤❤❤
damn that was a rough ordeal right there. hey jordan thank you for having a vest on Little. thats a must have when you guys are in the deep yo. for all of you actually. glad everybody is ok. would suck to hear bad news about a member of the crew not making it out.
That’s why those sleds have no business in the ocean. I’ve had to help rescue fishermen on a 26ft sled because the ocean conditions changed and they took a swell right over the bow. Glad you survived.
In my early 20s I ran a 21" Boston Whaler offshore of Brookings and Gold Beach Oregon. Had similar situations go down. Taught me alot about being a captain. Glad everyone is safe.
There are moments in our lives that we will never forget...and for you guys, this is one of them. It was definitely a learning opportunity. I live at the coast, own a boat and cross the bar from spring to fall. One rule that I have on my boat (and friends boats) is everyone wears a PFD when crossing the bar. As your video dramatically shows, conditions can change in an instant and finding, and putting on your PFD, isn't possible. It's a matter of life and death. Thank God you all lived to fish another day with your friends. Tight lines, safety first!
Marlin we love u too thanks for making and continuing to share these amazing and educational but really inspiring cinematic moments in nature while providing food and fun memories with friends
Happy that you are all okay. I'm glad you put the video up. Very much a learning experience. But also, an awesome video all together. Good work captain!
That is crazy. You are all very lucky. It’s weird but there are a lot more rogue waves then there ever has been. Glad your all safe. Thats what important.
we all get to learn from each others experience and it just doesnt happen if we dont share them. Thank you for sharing this, the columbia bar is no joke the toughest crossing on the west coast on a good day. On a bad day, well thats why the USCG trains there.
This is on the captain for not paying attention, charter boats in the ocean should have a deckhand so the captain can stay focused on conditions. They got lucky. I’ve seen those sleds fill up like a bathtub before. Any open area of a boat in the ocean should be self bailing.
Had something like that happen in August in Nootka Sound. Boat started taking on water and a guide came over. We got lucky being around other boats. 2 guys including myself managed to jump in the guide's boat, 2 guys went in the drink. We all managed to come home. I count myself lucky that all I lost was some fishing gear. No one was wearing life preservers. Everyone COULD have died. Glad you shared the experience. It's not always honey and bacon. Real life needs to be shown to keep us all safe.
Being in a boat when it tips is no fun. I know. Glad you had a great captain that reacted well and fast and everyone is okay. Good reacting to save your wife Marlin! As always, great video!
Wow !!! Good save Men !!! Way to keep your head and get yourself safe . I saw it building all day. I've been caught on lake Ontario in 10+ footers luckily I run a 24 ' Grady
Boy stuff like this gets my adrenaline going from a flashback years agon falling off a wave diving nose first where the windshield and top was tge only thing that saved us crossing the Columbia Bar. Glad you guys are okay. Scary ish!
literally one of my biggest fears, other than falling from heights simply because the likelihood of being found in the ocean is so small. glad you all made it and that he was able to correct the angle of the boat and get you out of there.
That was insane Ive had a couple close calls like that. Jordan I made the crab stuffed ling but opted for halibut. Freakin awesome sauce my new fav recipe. Thanks!
The sunken jetty on the CR is some of the craziest water I’ve ever seen. I crossed it on a day with five foot swell at five seconds during bottom of the flood. We were in a thirty foot offshore boat doing ten knots. Never again, I now go north to north jetty before turning east. Glad you guys are ok. South jetty should only be fished on slack tides
Rockfish is some of the best table fare there is, hands down. My beer battered rockfish tacos are a household favorite with a fresh pico de gallo and my secret cream sauce, Kewpie Mayonnaise from the Asian store
Jordan amazing job today u slayed and u really pulled those full pots in …u kept calm and quick thinking 🙌🏼… good boy little for listening … now to the food OMFG u r such a chef ..it always looks so good the prep and ingredients always 🔥 and switching it up for the homies 🥄🦀 gotta love new recipes 😂…..but 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 on filling up the freezer that was a nice haul
10:50 is tide meeting swell, thats the perfect scenario for standing waves to flip a boat. Glad you guys are okay. You all know what you're doing but god damn, when ur out on the chuck you gotta keep an eye on tides. Everything will be good when swell and tide move together and then it switches and you get standing waves with tight troughs that will f a boat up.
Wow. You guys are so lucky. I know how dangerous it can be out there. The boat I was in flipped but thanks to the other boats out there they saved the boat.
Great educational video. The ocean needs to be treated with respect. It can take your life and like you said you had a great captain and all you guys didn’t panic. I’ve been in certain situations like this and it’s no joke., it’s scary and glad you all made it. Great video again thank you.
Amazing y'all, so glad you are all good, all are skilled and pro!. I'm jelly, look foward to seeing the recipe! Legs and belly of crestations bout to be in your gullet. God speed!

I am also thankful that you all made it home safe. I just wanted to ask. Did you guys came in to the Hammond, Oregon marina? I used to live there and I just love it there
Glad to see you are all ok, insane!! I was fishing in Tillamook Bay with a friend on his boat about 10 years ago. We went to the jetty and fished there. Some big swells came in and as we were going back in away from the jetty he caught a wave and at one point there was impact that caused the anchor to fly out of the boat as it wrapped around my leg. Good thing my friend had fast reflexes or I would have ended up at the bottom of the bay.
Labor day 2021 wife and I almost met our maker. Ilwaco just below the light house by the A jetty. Sneaker wave flipted our boat while we were checking our pots. We lost everything but our live's. We are greatful to still be around to fish another day. It just take a split second, please stay vigilante.
Glad you guys are safe - I fished with Jordan two summers ago in San Diego - all class - being so close to shore you can get those big rollers and not be ready - we were in a similar situation in Cedros Isla with a hurricane about 100 SW of us producing big rollers - scary thing is that when you need a life vest they are never on and always stored below - I am guilty of that too - not often I would wear one when pro-bass fishing even though we were in some bad chop… again glad y’all are good!
I grew up on the coast and I’d never go out in an open boat when there’s swells , rogue waves aren’t that uncommon especially when the wind is getting up and the tide is on the turn, glad you all survived as it looked very bad , you were all lucky 👍
My first thought after seeing Sharon go sideways was she’s never going out there again! How scary. Glad you guys are all safe!
Glad you guys are okay, Jordan’s communications skills during all that are actually incredibly impressive. His guide instincts kicked in. Marlin saving his wife as well. Unbelievable reactions from you all, captain especially. Huge plus for Little listening to Jordan and staying focused.
I also thought Jordan reacted like a legend
Self bailing boat is a must when crossing that bar and stay away from the north jetty at max ebb. Got lucky!
I love how afterwards Marlin wouldn't let go of wifey, kudos. Also props to Little man for being a trooper. Sean went right for the camera, straight dedication. Thanks for being okay, dewders.

Marlin thanks for showing this video. It's so important to wear life jackets no matter what the river or ocean conditions are. So glad you all were safe and sound. Mr fishy recipe looked awesome. Great video.
Your main take away should to keep that boat on rivers where it belongs. The ocean is no place for an open sled.
There´s a brandnew invention out there - called "life jackets"! Gotta check them out!
There’s a thing called it being optional if you are 13 and over 🤷♂️ plus the ocean is unexpected
Strangely enough, Trippin' on Trout had a similar experience recently. Again, another experienced waterman, and still, the water wanted to show who was the gaffer. Do not EVER get complacent. Complacency kills. Glad you're all ok. Stay frosty!!!!

I'm going to use this video to educate my mates. Thanks for sharing.
Lessons were learned!
Im so happy you boys are safe. That was as close as it gets. Little is an absolute warrior of a dog.
So happy that you are all ok! Scares like that one give a person a renewed appreciation for life.
Thank you, this situation could happen to anyone and I'm glad we got to see it learn a bit from it!
Great job RJ. As a captain, you always gotta be ready for anything and remember that those you have on board trust and depend on you to keep them safe. Way to stay calm and get control of the situation.
Almost dies, "Did we loose are fish?!". lol thats my kind of priorities.
As a person who spends a ton of time on the ocean in an alumaweld it is a dangerous place and don't ever underestimate it even on the best days.
That being said I'm so glad you guys are ok, good captain, crew and boat. Stay safe out there guys, love the channel

Glad you guys are ok and nobody got hurt. Was great fishing and cooking again. God Bless and take care
So glad you guys and gal made it out ok. You guys are like family.
Close call boys!! Glad you made to shore safe and sound. But what an adventure!! Love watching your Videos. Keep up the great work. Big fan 👍
Nice you guys have positive attitude about the situation and each individual instead of being upset at the captain that you got into that situation. That crab butter is truly the best. Haven't had it in years. So jelly. Glad you guys made it out of there to tell the tale. Scary AF wave.

Very scary for sure. Thank goodness you had a skilled captain. Sean was also very lucky to stay in the boat, hope his back is ok. Stay safe Addicts

Scary stuff! Jordan and the captain did a Fine job of remaining calm and reacting under pressure!
damn that was a rough ordeal right there. hey jordan thank you for having a vest on Little.
thats a must have when you guys are in the deep yo. for all of you actually.
glad everybody is ok. would suck to hear bad news about a member of the crew not making it out.

Also broadside in a seaway?
I was out by the A jetty two weeks ago and had some pretty knarly waves hit my boat. Stay safe and keep catching!
Super glad everyone is okay after that rouge wave. That's some super scary ish! Stay safe and I'm already looking forward to the next video
Glade you guy's are safe. Those rogue waves are no joke.

That is crazy. You are all very lucky. It’s weird but there are a lot more rogue waves then there ever has been. Glad your all safe. Thats what important.
Loved the video. Besides the fantastic fishing/crabbing, I especially enjoyed the discussion with the captain after you ate. Really interesting.

Thank you for showing how it really is out here. Not Always fun and games, but making it back safe.
Glad everyone is ok....bar crossing is the most dangerous part of the fishing trip... thanks to an experienced guide
Marlin grabs his wife
Jordan grabs little
Sean grabs the camera
Conan grabs the fish mats
Rj grabs the wheel
Those instincts are A1
Glad everyone made it alright ! Good reminder to be carful on the water. Food looks good Jordan!
Another amazing video!! Being with the right captain make all the difference, gotta keep your head, great job, guys
Non permanent seats allow the load to shift and flip boats. Bolt your seats down and sit in them.
This is on the captain for not paying attention, charter boats in the ocean should have a deckhand so the captain can stay focused on conditions. They got lucky. I’ve seen those sleds fill up like a bathtub before. Any open area of a boat in the ocean should be self bailing.

Thanks for sharing the scary. Absolute learning moment right there and glad no one was hurt or worse. Fish on!!!
Glad every one is safe ! Little looks like she was scared and about to jump off
Glad you guys are ok. Had that happen on glass calm days. It's nuts! God bless you
Being in a boat when it tips is no fun. I know. Glad you had a great captain that reacted well and fast and everyone is okay. Good reacting to save your wife Marlin! As always, great video!
Glad you guys are safe. Looking forward to next weeks video
I am so glad you are all okay. We love you all and thank you for sharing and being REAL!
Scary ish!
That was insane glad to see everyone was ok. You guys have the best shows keep it up. 💯
i had a real scary experience once, took me a couple years to get over it! just happy to get inside when that happens
literally one of my biggest fears, other than falling from heights simply because the likelihood of being found in the ocean is so small. glad you all made it and that he was able to correct the angle of the boat and get you out of there.
Yeah that crab dip recipie and fish looks great
Great video. Glad you guys made it out alive. Fishing looked fun and the food well I could almost taste it.
Glad you guys are okay, I’ve had 2 near death experiences in one week 40 years ago it’s changed my life for the better, now I only fish rivers
Jeez guys that must have been crazy in person.. The look on Sean's face says it all!
Glad you are all good!!
I can't believe Jordan spilled his white claw.....🙊🙉🙈
10:50 is tide meeting swell, thats the perfect scenario for standing waves to flip a boat. Glad you guys are okay. You all know what you're doing but god damn, when ur out on the chuck you gotta keep an eye on tides. Everything will be good when swell and tide move together and then it switches and you get standing waves with tight troughs that will f a boat up.
Glad you guys made it out safely!!
Jordan’s beast 200 lbs high side saved the cookies. RIP America hat
Glad you all got out OK, hate those rogue waves...
Floating rope on the crab pots.. CLASSIC 😅
Floating rope on crab pots is a hazard and surprised this guide would use them. Bad example
Amazing y'all, so glad you are all good, all are skilled and pro!. I'm jelly, look foward to seeing the recipe! Legs and belly of crestations bout to be in your gullet. God speed!
Honestly thank you guys for taking the time to talk about what happened.
Wow. Awesome power of the ocean. Glad you made it guys
It’s butter is my favorite. Especially if you put its meat in it and mix it up. Put some fina’ denni’. Island sauce from Northern Mariana Islands. Then eat it all with white rice. Love it.
Glad you guys are all safe and sound
Holy crap! So glad all of you are okay! Great video
Labor day 2021 wife and I almost met our maker. Ilwaco just below the light house by the A jetty. Sneaker wave flipted our boat while we were checking our pots. We lost everything but our live's. We are greatful to still be around to fish another day. It just take a split second, please stay vigilante.

Glad u guys are ok, also little too
Glad y'all are safe! crazy footage
Great knife work during the cooking segment. Glad your all safe .hopefully your wife will go again she looked terrified.
Best crab in the world! You’re killing me.
Butterball all the way!
Scary situation! Glad to hear everyone is safe!
Well done! Thanks for sharing this. It could save someones life someday.
I’m so glad you guys are ok, very scary stuff. Side note, Dungeness is my favorite!
perfect example of a rogue wave..... they come out of no where. Glad you all are safe... scary stuff, reminds me of Alaska Crab fishing
