Apparently, the latest beta of RB3Maker (not the version in the description. Go read up on it on scorehero) makes RB2 Customs. Let me know if anyone gets it to work

My best answer would be to back up your main save data and song cache on a separate drive while you just use a different profile to play customs. It happens because TU4 requires a save file that's compatible with it.
You're trying to convert an RB2 RBA, then. Here's how to fix it.
1. Open up notepad
2. type in this: game_origin_check,0
3. Save as rb3maker.parms (parameter file for RB3Maker)
4. Place parms file in the same folder as your RBA
5. Convert it now, it should work

I meant physically telling the difference, not going back home, putting in the disc and finding out it was a patched version of the game
if you're able to find and remove title update 5, and have the option to redownload it, you have the older version
You're playing offline, if you try to log in with Title Update 4, RB3 will automatically force you to download to Title Update 5, where customs don't work.
It did at one point, but I decided to make a save file in TU4, then download TU5 so that it prevents from happening again

Mr.Crunchie You're don't need a modded xbox, and NO you will NOT get banned from Xbox Live because you WILL be OFFLINE

Mr.Crunchie Yes. Literally all that matters is whether or not you have a Physical copy of Rock Band 3 that was made before 2012.
The answer could be a yes or a no, some time after 2012 Harmonix started releasing a version of RB3 that had Title Update 5 patched onto the disc itself, and this method won't work on either that version or the games on demand version. So, if you can, try to get your hands on an older copy of RB3 (in that case, this exploit still works), I wouldn't know how to tell the difference between the two because I only own one copy of the game.
For the record, the way you tell the difference is by the logo on the front of the box/disc. You want the "MTV Games / EA" version.
This only works with a specific retail copies of RB3. This method will never work with the Games on Demand version as it's pre-patched with TU5, being unable to remove it.
Title Update 5 removed the exploit which allows unsigned .con files for RB3
over the last like 6 years I've never seen a modified version of rock band or guitar hero on ps3. I don't really know if it's possible. and I'm definitely not the one to be asked about this. I'm sure there's tons of smarter people out there that could figure it out one day, but for now it's not happening.

Are you talking about the PS3 version? Because if you are as far as I know, there's no way that I know of to get any type of modified content on PS3 whatsoever

and I agree with Skyler, a Reaper tutorial denoting the .chart / .ogg > .rba conversion process would be very useful.

It's not outdated. And I've been doing this since the summer of last year, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.

Every time I do this it says title update 5 when I go back to my xbox. I deleted and replaced it with for and it recognized it as 4 on my pc, but it somehow goes back to 5 on my xbox every time. What do I do?
I have a big problem, I bought this game a couple weeks ago and I can't find the update 4 file or any update files, so I tried downloading it online. But I could never store the update on the same flashdrive as the configure files for the xbox because it said it was full, and when I delete the config file for xbox and put the update in when I configure it again the update gets deleted

most of my customs don't appear? i've tried changing ids, song names, album names, file names and all that but i can't figure out? also tried deleting the song cache too. nothings worked. if anyone know why please help. if you need i'll send some that work and don't work

The best thing to do is back up your current save and only play through your flash drive. Don't be stupid like me where I accidentally thought that creating a new file would keep my current save
I getting a late start on this custom dl, convert and install. Plus I can't find an EA version of rb3. Is there a definitive guide, and I mean with kindergarten like instructions, to download and convert and then move to x360 for ROCK BAND 2? Also, does audition mode to be on? I have files I've dl'd but cant ever get them to play. Any help with this will be greatly and sincerely appreciated.

@@mattd2641 nah bro sure didn't. I gave up on it. I just recently bought an Alexis drum kit and started playing again. Any help will be sooo greatly appreciated. My band won't get together anymore bc I haven't gotten any new stuff they like. We were ranked 23rd in the world at one time!! Buuuutttt anyway..... Here's something about the Alexis drum kit and 360 RB: don't know the big deal was with getting them to play on Xbox 360 and rock band. I took my ion drum controller and mounted to the drum kit. Plugged all the wires from ion to Alexis pads and it was game on!! Put it out there if you want. I don't recall ever seeing it done before when I was researching which kit to buy. Thanks matt

Humble beginings.
Copies of RB3 with the MadCatz logo on the front are newer copies with TU5 pre-installed. Those with the EA logo and no MadCatz logo are older copies that can be used to download TU4.
Can you not get in the store if it is not updated all the most recent?
You want the one without the MadCatz symbol as it is factory Title Update 5.
So is there anyway we can play these songs online??

i have an RBA file but when i go to open the folder tis in, it says
STEP 1: Checking for required files in folder C:\Users\Kevin\Desktop\New folder
FAIL: C:\Users\Kevin\Desktop\New folder\songs.dta is not present
Every time I format the drive, it reverts to FAT32 and Modio won't read my USB

Just one question. I just ordered the game today and it is the one with the EA/ MTV Games copy so i know thats good. But i am doing it on a offline profile so just wanted to know if a song cache would be created if you are on a offline profile. So the question is: would a song cache be created if you are on a offline profile? if not, what should i do? thanks ;} great tutorial

Dude if you read this i would really appreciate the help. I had customs working just fine until i added an extra folder onto the usb which I guess confused the root. The rock band menu formatted my save and since then I haven't been able to load the customs up and have no idea how to get them back. :/

with the xbox store closing down, i still play RB3 on my 360. Has this method changed or will it still work?
So, I was able to get customs working using a different guide (fairly similar to yours, but not quite the same; like using Party Buffalo instead of Modio), and a different download of Title Update 4 to run. Got a message after RB3's start screen saying I could not access my save data from TU5, so it reset my band and character data, settings, and calibration. Customs worked. Rebooted with TU5, everything was fine, aside from settings, calibration, and having to reload all of my DLC.

I get the partition 0 thing but I don't get any of the other files like the downloads and rock band 3 folders.
Your video shows only the calibration bit (whether that's related or not), so I'm guessing there's a way to avoid the several errors that I encountered and leave the save data intact even on TU4? If it's significant to say, I did not download TU5 on the flash drive I'm using at any point; just TU4.
Forgive me, but I got it working, then I went to add more songs, something happened and my game freezes when I go to quickplay and I try to load the song list.

This may be a stupid question but does anyone know if there would be any reason that Modio won't allow files to be transferred to a device? I got TU5 on, then open the device and delete it, but when I attempt to transfer any file in, it won't allow it. Any help would be appreciated.

Quick question. Do you leave the USB drive in still when you're playing your custom songs? Or do you move the RB3 Title Update #4 and your custom song to the hard drive?
I'd leave it in the USB drive, just in case you may want to connect rock band to Xbox Live in the future :) just plug your usb drive back in for custom songs and take it out for live
