Right, because to the schools who finished 9-3 all the way to 6-6 don't have aspirations to try and finish what their season may have been about: to get to a bowl game. OR simply because they love to play the sport? They owe it to themselves. Smh.
bear bots334 you shake your head all you want 😂 you even said it, owe themselves not the school. That’s all I was saying bro. They shouldn’t have to jeopardize their future for the Idaho potato bowl.
It depends. If you’re going to get drafted after the bowl game you can sit out so you don’t risk getting injured before your NFL career even starts. It’s a smart move. But if you’re a sophomore, junior, or freshman that’s not going to the draft you might as well benefit your team as much as possible. More experience, you get to have fun, learn something, etc.
Very great point by Colin on the QBs coming out of college. Everyone looking for the perfect QB coming out of college and it doesn't exist. Luck and Peyton might have been the closest things to perfect QBs coming out of college and even Luck had an awkward delivery and Manning didn't have a strong arm.
If I'm the Browns, I'm sticking with Kizer for another year. Goff looked horrible last season, wait a year and he's shown he's very capable now. Darnold is a turnover machine, with an average arm and a 4.95 40. He's a 3rd rounder if he's at any other school
Tanner Babcock yeah i don't understand this love affair with these 2 Cali QBs that have never seen snow? They both seem overrated to me i could say DeShone Kizer is bigger more athletic stronger arm more potential played in cold weather his entire career ( i think he's from ohio) so why take another overrated QB and move backward instead of building the team
Darnold didn't force the issue. The first half of the season the SC coaching relied heavily on Sam. Two games Sam had 50+ attempts (drop backs, sacks, and runs); by "chance", against Texas and Utah. And don't forget we have an All-American running back.
Players should be able to make money. They should allow players on their own personal time go to an event and sign jerseys or footballs and make 1k by using their name or likeness. Darnold should be able to go sign autographs on a Wednesday night and make some money.
If they wish to do that go on to the NFL. NOT IN COLLEGE. By the way, pretty sure you have never attended a college or university. More than likely never attended a Junior College either. More than likely never graduated high school.
Absolutely not. This is not professional sports. If they wish to play professionally then leave the college game. There are other students on a college campus outside of sports. This would not be fair to them.
I agree that Darnold will get better in the NFL as well as in college, but here is the problem: there is no patience anymore in the NFL and if he does bad in his first season he is probably toast. The Browns drafted a QB in round 2 and only half a season later they are already to replace Kaiser. I think he should stay so he can get as good as he can get so that way there is less chance of being railroaded before his rookie season is done.
Allen absolutely owes it to them, he signed the letter of intent, gave him an education, are providing him with the medical treatment he needs right now
In this segment Colin called Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen special and said he doesnt care about Bradley Chubb, Minkah Fitspatrick, or Josh Allen who all ended up better than them 😂😂😂😂😂
So you're going to tell a 21 year, you can play for free for another year in school where a degree won't matter for your career, or you can live your dream as a pro and get millions of dollars. Anybody would leave instead of staying in school
lontavius jones he's talented but like Watson and rg3 he's got a track body. Russell wilsons got those tree trunk legs, Lamar sadly has ballerina legs.
"Stay in school and improve"?. If you're already going 1 or 2 what's the point of improving? The player gains nothing and can only go down from there. Only reason to stay in college is if you want to avoid the teams picking at the top.
Interesting idea, paying college athletes for use of their image, and paying out AFTER they leave College. Additional thought: Pay more if they stay for the full 4 years. And Graduate. A little less is they stay only 3 years. Or don't graduate. Etc.
I don't think that CBF players should earn salary but if they are good enough they can earn money from endorsements because if CBF players get paid you would have to pay every one and why should bench warmers get paid for doing nothing Sam a plus for College basketball
Just stop making players sign over their likeness. Continue to not allow the colleges to pay the players but let players sign endorsements. The players that should be paid will get paid that way. The ones who aren’t that great and are only there for the scholarship are going to get that as well. The colleges don’t lose money, the kids don’t lose money. Everyone wins.

Ok hold up: if we are talking about paying athletes that are in the college level of the sport (18-22), then there needs to be a minor league style of league for them to play in. No longer do these kids go to school to get an education; they go to play the sport in (not all, but a good amount) to play one day. CFB is going to be gone in the next 20 years at this rate.
Baker Mayfield will be far and away the best quarterback in this class. Lamar Jackson will be number 2 and Rosen will be a close third. Darnold and Allen aren't on any of those three's level.
I just don't understand the hype. Darnold is a turnover machine with an average arm and a wonky throwing motion. If you really study him like I have you'll notice that his motion is very similar to Tim Tebows. He has a huge windup. The guy is just not a natural thrower of the football. I'm not saying he's terrible. But he's not this "once in a lifetime" prospect that Colin makes him out to be
people can say and think what they like...it is everyone's right.,...to me, not playing it out with your team says to me...not a team player. I have never liked guys sitting out. That is supposed to be your team....be out there with them. So, sit out because the game "doesn't matter" Got news for ya...you will play a whole lot of games in an NFL career that "don't mathematically matter" You just gonna stay home for them, too? Not give 100%? good luck in that career you sat out to try for...lol
understood....but it also reveals character flaws...to me. i am only offering my opinion. Also....you could get hurt on your first nfl play...or even in camp.....to me, it is more important to be reliable, and there for people rather than weighing risks...life is full of them. playing football, your career could be over at any minute....playing at any level. . Jaylon Smith was asked while he was wearing his cast if he wished he had done it differently....probably because McCaffery and others sat out of their games...he said no. That was my team, and I was going to be there for them. (probably not exactly quoted there..lol)
Sam darnold is another overrated overhyped usc bum he's next in a long line of usc qb's that are terrible(Matt Barkley,Matt leinart,Cody kessler,Mark sanchez) Josh Allen is another Brock osweiler Paxton lynch tall and white with a average arm scouts consider "big" and has "intangibles" you know who else has a strong arm and good intangibles JAY CUTLER
Nobody but the jets thought Mark Sanchez would be good. Even Pete Carol wanted Mark to stay another year. As for Cody Kessler, he wasn't a first-round pick and he's been a backup since. Sam Darnold ranks far superior to both those guys.
University and colleges are all about money... Remember they are not Non profit organizations.... they are around to make lots of money.... And they are in conjunction with the banks... College tuition loans is owed more in the U.S than any credit card companies. And you can not file bankruptsy on student loans!!!
College players are getting paid by going to school for free don’t like the way you get payed don’t play college sports they can go to the cfl instead and get money
Wilson too small, Aaron is too short, Bress too tinny, Brady has a lousy body, Eli and Payton couldn't run, Philip got a lousy delivery......Colin you starting to lose credibility
Very great point by Colin on the QBs coming out of college. Everyone looking for the perfect QB coming out of college and it doesn't exist. Luck and Peyton might have been the closest things to perfect QBs coming out of college and even Luck had an awkward delivery and Manning didn't have a strong arm.
perhaps there's no such thing as a perfect quarterback. Luck & Elway fit the description of what most of us have been told. But neither have what somebody like Brady or Wilson have. Insane heart. Can't measure that. Late/mid round draft picks seem to have more fight in them. Seems to me the best quarterbacks of all time have one common trait, and that's psychotic passion. Perfection. Think about Stafford, Cutler, Ben, Luck, Cam. Probably 5 of the 6 best arms in the league. Tall. Bigger build. Yet no killer in them, they're content with where they are. Guys like Brady want to win a title every single year. Brady won't even eat tomatoes bc it's not a perfect enough veggie. He's thinking about the next January all the way in May. Same with Wilson, who said he doesn't eat like he once did and he's what? 28? Taking better care of himself than Cam, who may have 3x more talent lol
Will Sam Darnold turn pro this year?
The Herd with Colin Cowherd why not
The Herd with Colin Cowherd No.
No, he needs to come back or he'll be part of our unfortunate NFL QB record, one more season and he'll be an incredible NFL QB. Fight On!
No he shouldn’t, the “turnover machine” needs more practice... but he probably will
If darnold can go to a team other than the browns then he should leave
Joel Klatt is the Chris Broussard of college football
Joel Klatt is the best CFB analyst
Minus the big 10 and big 12 biased nonsense yes.

Super Facts
If the bowl game isn’t the Playoff then the players don’t owe it to anyone to play in a meaningless game
Justin Boyd New Years 6 and maybe some others are definitely not meaningless games but I do see your point
Right, because to the schools who finished 9-3 all the way to 6-6 don't have aspirations to try and finish what their season may have been about: to get to a bowl game. OR simply because they love to play the sport? They owe it to themselves. Smh.

Colin u have no idea if Sam smokes blunts, he’s in college
The Browns shouldn’t be allowed to draft a QB period
Biggus Dickus lol then how can they ever get better.
Idiot
Biggus Dickus they passed up Geoff, Wentz, and Watson. They're not doing it agaib
Jerome Marshall they didn’t pass on Goff. Other teams pass up on Watson and now he’s injured
Trey cotwright draft better linemen and dline
Darnold don’t smoke joints he smokes blunts
I smoke blunts and I’m a pretty cool guy 🤷🏾♂️
I’m a simple man. I see Joel Klatt, i like the video.
If I'm the Browns, I'm sticking with Kizer for another year. Goff looked horrible last season, wait a year and he's shown he's very capable now. Darnold is a turnover machine, with an average arm and a 4.95 40. He's a 3rd rounder if he's at any other school

Just say "owns the rights of an individual". Can we stop dancing around it.
Darnold didn't force the issue. The first half of the season the SC coaching relied heavily on Sam. Two games Sam had 50+ attempts (drop backs, sacks, and runs); by "chance", against Texas and Utah. And don't forget we have an All-American running back.

If they wish to do that go on to the NFL. NOT IN COLLEGE. By the way, pretty sure you have never attended a college or university. More than likely never attended a Junior College either. More than likely never graduated high school.
Duke Moose there’s no reason why a player shouldn’t be able to make money off their likeness while in college. The rules should be changed.
Absolutely not. This is not professional sports. If they wish to play professionally then leave the college game. There are other students on a college campus outside of sports. This would not be fair to them.
I could listen to Klatt all day.
Damn this guy is in love with Darnold and divorce. Strange as chit but true
ross welch lol
This comment aged well haha
So interesting to listen to this in 2024
best day of the week when colin has klatt on
Jackson Singewald Or Chris Broussard

Sam Darnold finna be the next Andy Dalton. Give him elite talent he’ll be decent. Give him subpar talent he’ll be below average💀💀
I love the commercial for once
Exactly! Just pay them for their name and likeness! Why shouldn't I be able to make money off myself?!?!
And as a plus, you get the NCAA football video games back.
I guess I'll start studying to become a head coach then
Cowherd rolls loose blunts
In this segment Colin called Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen special and said he doesnt care about Bradley Chubb, Minkah Fitspatrick, or Josh Allen who all ended up better than them 😂😂😂😂😂
So you're going to tell a 21 year, you can play for free for another year in school where a degree won't matter for your career, or you can live your dream as a pro and get millions of dollars. Anybody would leave instead of staying in school
Ricardo Garcia football isn't a longevity sport unless you are a kicker or punter. And you don't make as much money as you think
Lol I Remember cowherd dissing Simmons when he was drafted cos he couldn’t shoot, now he is riding Simmons as if he has been his biggest fan for life.
My friend is in a frat (AXA) at USC. I’m sure he smokes blunts with sam lol
So much “nice” in this video 6️⃣9️⃣
Why doesn’t they talk bout Lamar Jackson..he must not be conversational enough for them
lontavius jones he's talented but like Watson and rg3 he's got a track body. Russell wilsons got those tree trunk legs, Lamar sadly has ballerina legs.
Give it to Beast Mode, they should have ran it in.
"Stay in school and improve"?. If you're already going 1 or 2 what's the point of improving? The player gains nothing and can only go down from there. Only reason to stay in college is if you want to avoid the teams picking at the top.
Josh Allen has the single biggest arm in the draft. he can launch that thing
Michigan WILL beat south Carolina
the Iron wolverine yep, do you think you will get those Ole Miss players?
Heso Melo if they want to win then they should come to Michigan
the Iron wolverine both teams suck so it's a toss up
Brandon Choran michigan only sucks at qb
Sam “turnover machine” Darnold going to the Browns, a team that can’t stop turning the ball over... 😂
Savage Sooner He has bad coaching at USC. The Browns coaching won’t help. He should decline to sign with them like Eli Manning.
Interesting idea, paying college athletes for use of their image, and paying out AFTER they leave College. Additional thought: Pay more if they stay for the full 4 years. And Graduate. A little less is they stay only 3 years. Or don't graduate. Etc.
Josh Allen a bust
Mr Speed We don't know that.
Mr Speed Josh Allen ia a blunt
Naw just went to the wrong Program
Ismail Noor Mohamud well semien is a 7th round pick so he’s accomplished more than most 7th rounders
So nobody else thought that was Eminem in the thumbnail?
My broncos need Josh Rosen
Stop forcing Darnold to leave USC Colin.
If you don’t pay players then they should be able to transfer schools without penalty
Rodgers is 6’2 that’s ain’t short to me lol
I don't think that CBF players should earn salary but if they are good enough they can earn money from endorsements because if CBF players get paid you would have to pay every one and why should bench warmers get paid for doing nothing Sam a plus for College basketball
Charlie Weis conned two different schools to pay him to not coach.
Saquon barkley to san francisco
Just stop making players sign over their likeness. Continue to not allow the colleges to pay the players but let players sign endorsements. The players that should be paid will get paid that way. The ones who aren’t that great and are only there for the scholarship are going to get that as well.

So nobody’s gonna mention the Cleveland Browns huh? Naw
josh rosen even looks like matt ryan, he is really skinny
I'm a simple man, I see Joel Klatt in the title and I click.
I think Darnold and Rosen will not agreed play to the Browns.
Bring back NCAA football games
Jaylon Smith.
Darnold's not gonna get better doing reps against pro players? Pro practices?
Ok hold up: if we are talking about paying athletes that are in the college level of the sport (18-22), then there needs to be a minor league style of league for them to play in. I’m pretty sure he just does not want play for the browns
Baker Mayfield will be far and away the best quarterback in this class. Lamar Jackson will be number 2 and Rosen will be a close third. Darnold and Allen aren't on any of those three's level.
Sam will be the best after it is all said and done.
About that😂😂😂😂
5 minutes of collin slobbering over darnold. yuck
I just don't understand the hype. Darnold is a turnover machine with an average arm and a wonky throwing motion. I don’t like Rosen

Vote Jay Cutler to the probowl
From 2:20 on if you really think about what Colin is saying, it is awful English

College tuition loans is owed more in the U.S than any credit card companies. And you can not file bankruptsy on student loans!!!
Josh Allen does not and hopefully will not warrant a top 5 pick. He's literal garbage, and he will bust as a first round pick.
Darnold will be a bust
College players are getting paid by going to school for free don’t like the way you get payed don’t play college sports they can go to the cfl instead and get money
Sam Darnold and Lamar Jackson will be the best QBs from the draft.
Russell Westbrook Fan since 2010
😂 NO
Savage Sooner you’re just mad your 5’11” qb ain’t gonna do a dent. He’s not Russell Wilson
College players don’t deserve to get paid. No. Never.
Josh Rosen will be a huge bust
Ben Preston Rosen will be good. Unless he goes to Cleveland
*Foolish* Demon idk about Rosen either seems like he doesn't really like football that much
Wilson too small, Aaron is too short, Bress too tinny, Brady has a lousy body, Eli and Payton couldn't run, Philip got a lousy delivery......Colin you starting to lose credibility
