We thank you for all the wonderful comments. We have just finished another ELP piece. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/yjWMCTuo0rs/видео.html. (be sure to crank it up!)
Wow! Now THAT is a cover. When I listen to someone cover an ELP tune, the main thing I want is absolute fidelty to the ELP version. This was a perfect reproduction. BRAVO!
This is one of my three favorite songs by them the other is the Endless Enigma and the third is Jerusalem😊 good job brother from a ELP listener since 1970😮
Can't get enough of this. 37 Subscribers? 197 likes??? Madness. This is probably the most true to original sounding cover I have heard and the keyboardist seemed so casual about the whole thing. Amazing.
This is the first track from ELP's first album 'Emerson, Lake, & Palmer'. And it wasn't until 1973 when I initially heard them on Radio 1's 'Sequence' show on a Friday or Saturday night. The Barbarian was the very first track I heard and I knew it was them before it was even announced! I was hooked from then on. I've still got that BBC Radio 1 (mono) recording today somewhere. This is a great tribute to them - thanks for your effort and work that went into this!
Thanks for tuning in. If it wasn't for KE and ELP, we might not have had the inspiration to pursue a music career. They were the right lesson at the right time.
Thank you!
Fantastic tribute! Brilliant playing and backing track. I’d have been happy to just have this one track by ELP, even if they’d never recorded anything else. It’s perfect.
Stunning BUT I would have loved to have seen Cy and Borg! I thought that you were using some sort of backing track. I still think that you could Re edit it to include them. Having said that I think that you ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT! Congratulations! How impressive! 🙏🎶 🎹 🥁 🎸🎶🕺🇦🇺👍👏
Thanks - Yes, even though only the keyboardist is shown in this video there are others that contribute to all our songs. In this ever evolving age of A.I. It's hard to know who's doing what. We may try to include more of the others in future endeavors when possible. 😃
Thanks for the kind words. The original Bartok piece can be found here:musopen.org/music/4109-allegro-barbaro-sz49/ KE took a good part of the middle piano bit right from the original. So that's really the best place to start. The rest was figured out by watching the various YT vids of ELP playing it. There's a couple good vids that show his left hand. It's an impossible piece to play and it took months to finally (by sheer luck) get a piano take that didn't totally suck at one point or another. We're pretty sure I could never play it again. And yet KE seems to play it almost effortlessly. I have more respect than ever now.
@@SunlendingSky Thanks for the link. One of my classmates in college played the Bartok, but I haven't played it, so this will be a good nudge to do that. You did a great job with this. Thanks again.
Thanks for tuning in - We just started on another ELP piece. It's a long one, and is going to take some time. But it's going to be wonderful. (fingers crossed) Stay tuned.
So, how long did it take you to play this? I’m assuming you read music? Did you just listen and go, “I can play this”? Just curious excellent job! I’ve been an ELP fan since the early ‘80s.
It took about 3 months to learn the Bartok piece - I put a link to the music in the description It took several more weeks to figure out what K.E. was doing plus putting together the rest of the music (recording, mixing -the gong etc) I did listen and said "I can play this". Turned out to be way harder than we expected.
Interestingly, it's way more complicated than that. Drums, Bass, Keys (and gong) were all recorded by different people at different times.(and from different locations) Video was taken of several takes of the Organ and Piano bits while listening back to our drummer and bass players tracks. However, running both video and Multi-track recording simultaneously is a bit of a nightmare. Ultimately the best video take and best audio recording are rarely the same. 😵💫
Superb! And we can also clearly hear drum works by palmer. Drums were mixed so low and mudly in the cd version, such a shame. Even in the 2001 remaster it doesn't sound clear at all, huge difference compared to your video
That's one of the things about re-doing these older songs- Because recording quality is so much better now, even when recreating the original arrangement, it can sound fresh. Palmer never took the easy route and recreating his parts was as rewarding as it was laborious.
@@ledorzejean-etienne3747 Yes we did - bass , drums, and keyboards - all recreated using various methods like electronic drum kits or pads or other techniques.
sadly- none exists. - Drums and bass were mostly created by a combination of playing, editing, and programming by various contributors (known collectively as Cy and Borg) But we'll see perhaps on future endeavors.

It's a wonderful performance. Hats off to Keith. When I look back at the time of my debut, I cry. I am Japanese.
Congratullation .. Perfect 👏👏👏👏.. Bravo!!
Maybe the best Barbarian ELP cover thah I have heard...and I know so much about ELP. The piano seccion it´s awesome!
Wow, thank you!
Excellent! The sounds, the notes, the nuances...all spot on. Best ELP cover that I've heard.
Thanks for listening- It's a great piece to learn.
I agree... everything is perfect! Well done
OMG! Excellent! Congrats from Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 👍🏻

maybe if a few of us leave a link on other ELP youtube songs, it will gain popularity. Internet land is strange and lonely.
Maestro!!!
Excelente!!! Felicitaciones!!!!
Exceptional!!!
Man, that was amazing! I love the drum fills, that was also fantastic.
BTW, YT linked me here from a performance of Bartok's Allegro Barbaro.
Thank you
really great. You captured the right energy and grit of this piece.
Awesome cover. They would be proud.
Not only was this played brilliantly, but the organ sound was spot on! Very very good!
thanks

The "gong" at 2:50. hahahahaha. I'm watching your hands on the piano at 1:24. thanks. I've always wanted to learn that.
thanks.
Proof that gongs can be funny sometimes.
Outstanding work sir. Loved the gong!
Que excelencia para tocar !!! Que maravilla, espero subas más videos, es una bendición al oído. Gracias por la música!!!
Thank you and You're Welcome

Great job on the keys Mr Sunlending Sky and a well done cover/tribute effort to the late great Keith Emerson

Perfect cover ¡¡¡¡👏
Really a great job!
Both Bartok and Emerson should be proud of you.

Wunderbar!
SO GOOOOD
Thank you for this.
You're welcome and thanks for listening.

we figured a little humor wouldn't take away from the barbarianism of the piece. Thanks for noticing.
