I have seen Messi from the beginning, for those who try to compare Yamal with Messi, they only have to watch videos of him at his age, Messi gives the impression that he could play alone, even if he lost the ball he would run to recover it. He could come out from his goal and dribble past all the players and score at a crazy speed, the control of the ball that he had at that age was unique. As a Barca fan since the days of Romario, I don't like this debate as it is beginning to divide us Barca fans. A lot of Barca fans still worship and adore Messi, so no other player will ever come close to him, not even from Barca. However, Barca fans should be glad that Yamal is beginning to be hyped by the media as the best player in the world right now instead of Mbappe, Vinicius or Haaland etc. The last time I checked, this should have been Mbappe's, Vinicius, Rodrygo's or Haaland's era of dominance. But slowly, the media attention is being drawn towards Lamine Yamal, a La Masia wonder kid. So Barca fans should be happy rather than pulling Yamal down.
Better at seventeen? Hard to say. Yamal's first season he didn't win the league but he did win the Euros. Messi's first season he won the league. Let's wait sixteen years before we make any more comparisons. A more important question is: Who cares? It doesn't matter. Who's the greatest? Who's the best? Blah, blah, blah. It's a boring conversation. I'm just happy this season the Liga has a strong Barca and a strong Madrid. I'm happy Arsenal and Liverpool are playing so well. It means this season I will see some great football. 'Cause I LOVE watching great football.
Comparisons to messi won’t do any player any good. Its just too much. I’ve never seen a player with as much raw talent and potential as messi. Infact I can’t even imagine what a player more talented than messi would look like. Messi was that good
I think that’s what differentiates Messi from yamal and others, young Messi didn’t have to carry the team because there were other world class players taking the mantle, instead he was able to sit back and learn more thereby improving his game, we see this with how Messi had attributes of Xavi, Iniesta, ronaldinho etc
That's what I want to say Barcelona didn't necessarily need Messi at 17 but barca needs lamine at 17 because if lack of playmakers like Messi and Ronaldhino
@ 17 Yamal is better than any 17 year old i have ever seen. especially considering what he has done for Spain @ the highest possible stage. Mbappe @ 18 was a monster @ the world cup. Yamal vs France @ euros was special Mbappe vs Agentina 2018 world cup was special

Dont know how to compare them, but anyway, is seek (as a positive atribute) how good this Yamal kid is, not saying any news, but we been talking so much about Haaland, Mbappe, and Vini, and never felt so in touch with those playere, I think Mbappe is the best of all those, but this kid Yamal is a different thing. Sadly Mbappe is now at a club where he cannot play on his natural position, looks uncomfortable, I dont know if we could see now how good Mbappe can be.
I wouldn't say Lamine is carrying Barcelona right now.. He's not scoring all the goals, or providing all the assists. Everyone is playing well. Others are creating as well. When players get healthy it will be even better provided Barca can solve keeper issue.
Yamal can’t be as good as Messi To be at Messi and Ronaldo level it not easy even mbappe has never reached that level . But yamal will be very good for many years can win two or three balon dor awards in his career . Remember mbappe won the World Cup with France at the age of 18yrs and looking at it u can say he would even win 5 ballon dor. It kinda funny how this pundit thinks
what lamine yamal do for his country at 17 has a bigger impact than what Messi did for his country at 17. but its not healthy to compare players to Messi, we should let Lamine be Lamine and let him write his own destiny...
My take is this, its hard to compare to messi because to be a messi it takes playing at a very high level for 10+ years. That said, I think he could reach and maybe even surpass those levels.
This is what kills upcoming great players. To always level them to the greats Messi n Ronaldo, leave those 2 alone and let the young guys develop without giving them pressure
Messi didn’t get the exposure Lamine Yamal had bcuz Barca had no financial troubles and so the club need not play him and had to field in senior too-quality players like Ronaldhino instead.
I think it depends on the aspect of play. Yamal is at least as good as Messi was at 17. But depending on the circumstances, you might want to switch from 17yo Yamal to Messi, or vice versa.
Speaking in future terms is the kiss of death. How about everyone just talks about him in the present tense. Injuries, personal issues, etc could all come into play. Considering his father seems to deal with shady people, that is not a stabilizing influence on this kid. Let's wait and see what happens year by year.

yes. this doesn't mean he'll be better all around than Messi, or have the same time period of sustained excellence but Yamal already is a superstar, and he's built taller and stronger. i just hope barca (and spain) don't destroy the career of every single young player by overplaying them to the point of exhaustion and injury even as they're still growing
Messi is miles better hear me out. Messi when he first started played in an era when people every game would try to break ur legs and u would get away with it whereas nowadays if u touch someone it’s immediately a foul and kind of reminds me of basketball. Messi also didn’t play much until he was around 19 because u have to remember it’s really rare for someone so young to play professional football in that era considering they didn’t wanna risk losing potential future superstars and plus the health issues aren’t as good as today but lastly that Barcelona team was stacked when he joined as well
Messi wasn't enough of a first team regular at that age for us to judge. Once a player is 19, 20, 21 then the comparisons can start to be made. But every time, Messi will look better
Yes, 17y olf Yamal has a bigger impact than a 17y Messi. Yamals level is something that we've never witnessed from a below 18y old. Never. But its still so so so early. Lets just hope we can anjoy his football for many many years

Messi at 17 led the Argentina U-20 team to victory in the FIFA U-20 World Cup and he was the 1st youngest player to join the senior team FC Barcelona frm Lamasia. So no Lamine is good but not better than Messi at 17. what Lamine did however was to be introduced to the limelight earlier than Messi was. Lamine was selected to join the senior team at 16 which was a yr earlier that MESSi which now makes him the youngest to have joined the senior side
He won the u -17 euros and the normal euros (and he was the top contributor in the tournament over KDB, Kroos, etc.) Accolades wise they’re right there.
Messi with 17 was world cup sub21 champions and with 16 was Olympic Gold so lets take a lot of calm 😅
Muah he already got Euro @ 17
@@FGB2015 Messi won Olympics at 20
@@neb530but also we should compare the Argentina team at that time to now Spain.
@@Aquiliaissomeone Also we should compare this Barca with Messi @17. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Yamal DID win the league his first season?
All that Messi means now is more evidence that, while it is improving, the MLS is still a retirement league
Yeah. It is. I desperately want it not to be. But it always will be.
@ZugaFcb, Messi was raw relent from God. Even before he went to Barcelona the kid was something else
Yamal vs France @ euros was special
Mbappe vs Agentina 2018 world cup was special
Messi is unparalleled , clever comment gainer for the RUclips algorithm. Say something ridiculous and get comments and views , which this obvs has , well done ESPN. Lol😂
Sadly Mbappe is now at a club where he cannot play on his natural position, looks uncomfortable, I dont know if we could see now how good Mbappe can be.
no way yamal is close to messi
I wouldn't say Lamine is carrying Barcelona right now.. He's not scoring all the goals, or providing all the assists. Everyone is playing well. Others are creating as well. When players get healthy it will be even better provided Barca can solve keeper issue.
Yamal can’t be as good as Messi
To be at Messi and Ronaldo level it not easy even mbappe has never reached that level . But yamal will be very good for many years can win two or three balon dor awards in his career . Remember mbappe won the World Cup with France at the age of 18yrs and looking at it u can say he would even win 5 ballon dor. It kinda funny how this pundit thinks
Did you here the question?
Different players. We need to let Yamal, be Yamal and not make comparisons. Especially with Messi.
what lamine yamal do for his country at 17 has a bigger impact than what Messi did for his country at 17. but its not healthy to compare players to Messi, we should let Lamine be Lamine and let him write his own destiny...
Lamine better than mbappe , better than vini, better than pice of shxxxx belingan right naw 😂😂😂😂😂.
Messi didn’t get the exposure Lamine Yamal had bcuz Barca had no financial troubles and so the club need not play him and had to field in senior too-quality players like Ronaldhino instead.
The dribling of messi will never be matched, every time he took the ball he dribbled past 2-3 players.
I think it depends on the aspect of play.
Yamal is at least as good as Messi was at 17. But depending on the circumstances, you might want to switch from 17yo Yamal to Messi, or vice versa.
For the statement, yes, letting very clear, he's is better "for Barcelona" then messi was in both age, but he's not better then Messi at both age
i would bet my whole bank account he is never even close to being as good as messi
There is only 2 players that had pure raw talent at 17 in the last 30 years ..Messi and R9…that’s it .
Messi was competing with Legends for the starting spot, Yamal is lucky football has water down.
messi at 17 was still in the lab and still being assessed for growth issues, was playing way less football than yamal.
Until he has done half or quarter of what Messi did I'll pay respect for now don't compare a kid to a Goat.
At 17 Messi is definitely better Messi was injured and out for most part as 17 as well!
Messi was more explosive and a better dribbler. But Lamine is a better player at this age.
It's wishful thinking. The day it's true trust me there will be no doubt.
Go away, i watched Messi since he played for Barca B, he's one of a kind..
To say yamal is the best player in the world is just taking it too far and showing a clear barca bias 😂
This is dum debate the kid as talent will never come close to Messi not even Neymar remember this Comment.
No… he’s not even close
Bro I’m 16 and way better than what Messi and Yamal have ever been smh
Messi at that age dribbled around almost all defenders from opposition
Yamal is good, so was ansu fati and they got rid of him quick
we already seen the closest thing to messi which is maradona
Speaking in future terms is the kiss of death. How about everyone just talks about him in the present tense. Injuries, personal issues, etc could all come into play. Considering his father seems to deal with shady people, that is not a stabilizing influence on this kid. Let's wait and see what happens year by year.
Stop the comparison its not healthy for the teenager
No comparison Messi is in a different world
Pep has said do not compare messi to anyone
That's really ridiculous one
Maradona at 17 was already the best ever
How are we even having this conversation?..
He’s not even better than Cole Palmer
Get lost..
Messi's talent is unmatched. Yamal seems to be more mature for his age than Messi was at 17.
Neymar’s talent is greater than Messi’s
So you're telling me that Messi was imature at that age😂😂How did you know kid😂😂
@@Aquiliaissomeone I mean in the sense of playmaking he was still a bit immature at that age. And how do I know? Because I watched him play 😂 I'm pretty old myself 🤣
Let him be lamine yamal himself don't compare him to Messi..Now if you compare Messi to Maradona you will look stupid as Messi have already made his career Golden like Diego Maradona..and so on I hope lamine also follows the same path do not pressurize him to be as good as Messi or any football players..
@@gamingking2187 You are trying so hard 😂. Saying Neymar is better than Messi is like saying Raheem Sterling is better than Maradona. Idiotic. You are upset that no one talks about that fraud CR7 anymore. Neymar isn't even top 50 all time.
Don't compare, please.
If Yamal grew up in Morocco or equatorial Guinée he ll be just another talented kid. His talent is a dime a dozen in 1/3 world countries. But those kids lack support, opportunity and encouragement
it's a false equivalences to compare lamine with messi, no question, both are great, but messi at 17 was already frightening and the world was quaking, expecting that the kid will be special and he did the magic and become the mystery of the game, yamal, barring injuries will be up there among the best of his generation and possibly among the class of messi, but no one else can be messi, he is simply different and in another level,,
yes. this doesn't mean he'll be better all around than Messi, or have the same time period of sustained excellence but Yamal already is a superstar, and he's built taller and stronger. i just hope barca (and spain) don't destroy the career of every single young player by overplaying them to the point of exhaustion and injury even as they're still growing
Lets just hope we can anjoy his football for many many years
He certainly has the potential to be. However, right now, it's a premature statement. Messi's accomplishments and impact on the sport remain unparalleled.
Technically he did it at 15. After we won the league he was allowed to play 2-3 matches in the league
As Jules pointed out, the surrounding cast for that Argentinian U-20 team was far stronger.
I mean, Lamal won the Euros too, which is a far more difficult competition.
He won the u -17 euros and the normal euros (and he was the top contributor in the tournament over KDB, Kroos, etc.) Accolades wise they’re right there. I don’t think anyone can dribble an entire team like Messi though 😂. I think Lamine will reach some accolades like WC as well but the raw skill Messi has is a tough thing to beat.
@@slykay biggest load of garbage I have ever read. Lamine Yamal at 17> Messi at 17
Messi dan yamal ❤❤❤
no need to go there
Messi is a legend yamal is a brilliant footballer but I would still say Messi at 17 was incredible…yamal has so much ahead of him a whole future and I know he will one of Barcelona lengends
Messi will always have the best dribbling ever, but lamine has a more versatile tool kit and is more of a pure winger while messi was always more of a 10 or false winger.
A 15 year old Messi and Maradona is different gravy from anything I’ve ever seen or will see , Lamine is very good atm but long way to go so let’s see
Now this is where yamal career is becoming complicated you can't say that messi talent is not around
Yes lamine is further along spoken as somebody that saw Messi’s debut and almost every game he ever played
Lamine is def better than cr7 and messi at his age his end product at that age is better as well as impact of the play.
No he is not
His is better probably only in his decision making….in the final third….
At present lamine is my fav but lamine is nowhere close to messi .
Unlike Messi, Yamal won his international trophy without corruption and playing with 12 men.
😂😂😂
