I was there during the 1970-72 period as a surveyor in B Battery, 4 th BN., 41st Field Artillery. The Building at 2:46 minutes (left side) was where B Btry. was located. The building on the right was Service battery back in those days.
A small bit of trivia, the narrator is Ben Aycrigg, a beloved and long-time news anchor in Orlando. For more than 30 years, Ben acted as reporter on the local CBS affiliate. He was known as Orlando's "Walter Cronkite." I heard that he also did professional voice-overs but this is the first example I've ever heard.
Yeah the current Posture with Other Powers that are able to Field such Systems as the Pershing and anything more Advanced is not in a Good State of Affairs
I was stationed at Nelson Kaserne, at HHC 55th Maintenance Battalion, from November 1983 to May 1985. At 1:10, that was the barracks i lived in, 3rd floor 3rd window from right corner on building. Great duty, great time, great people, and great fun.
My dad was in the Maintenance unit there at Hardt Kaserne from 1966-69. His name was Sgt Kirk Lane, promoted to WO1 in '68, as I recall. We lived in the housing area there at the top of the hill, address was Bldg 706 A-1. It was a great place to grow up.
Delta battery, 1st of the 81st field artillery, wiley kaserne, 73-74' I'll never forget guard duty, walking the perimeter at the "pad" and foosball!. Major Shaw just left and Lary Timburg took over command, that was the end of the fun! Miss it.

I was in HHB, 56th FA on Bismarck Kaserne from 1982 - 1984. I worked in the Public Affairs Office. Looks like you were still "up the hill" until after I left. I had a great time in Schwaebisch Gmuend and have many fond memories.
@@kevinbracey hey, I’m currently in the 56th AC now. I’m working on a project to collect memorabilia from 56th for display in the HQ. I just received a box of archived PAO products (film, VHS, and several Pershing news articles from the unit paper). Did you happen to write or take pictures? I may have just received your work. Just FYI I was born in the ‘80s.
@@justinallen3020 I wasn't a journalist at the time, but I wrote a few articles for the Pershing Cable, sometimes under the pseudonym "Sean Nivek." Most of the articles written and pictures taken during my time in the PAO office were by Greg Allen, Tom Copeland, J.D. Godwin, Paulette Daniel, Judy Merwine, Joyce Arrington, and a few other names I can't remember. The PAO's during my time were MAJ Maravola and MAJ Griffon. The NCOIC was Jim Cramblet.
@@kevinbracey it’s so great to go through these articles and see the contemporary views and issues the army was talking about then. Also to actually reach out to those who actually contributed to recording the legacy of the unit. The articles I read from the 60’s and 70’s look kind of loose. (Especially some of the photos). Did you just come up with some articles or were you given the subject to write about and put your personality in the article? Did you come across this video on the internet or did you have this video and digitize it for upload? I have a few from the Center of Military History that I’ll try to digitize here soon.
@@justinallen3020 I was in Schwaebisch Gmuend from May '82 - May '84. If you haven't seen it already Google "Bismarck Kaserne Memories" for a flavor of what it was like back then. I don't know if I should be amazed or worried that the 56th is getting reactivated 30 years since its inactivation
Wow, when I first read your comment I thought you were joking. Can't believe it's really happening!
@@kevinbracey I also couldn't believe my eyes either; then again, it was kind of inevitable since the abandonment of the INF treaty
