Preach! I saw this cast on West end. They were soo good! The new cast are good too.
For anyone watching this and being worried he’ll sound like this when you see him, he won’t. I agree he doesn’t sound great in this but I went to see him in London and he’s absolutely incredible so don’t worry.
and peggy I watched this show last night, he sounded worst than this :( the falsetto was bad... but the energy was just right.
I do not care if it sounds bad because he’s dancing and singing at the same time and it’s hard to keep a straight line when you are jumping about trust me

Hey! I’m a singer and I can say that Layton was definitely just having a bad day which is why he sounds “off”. As well as it being extremely cold where they performed (vocal chords are muscles so they have to be warm to work properly) it sounds as though he might have been sick. Sickness can often cause shortness of breath which in turn makes singing a struggle as literally the foundation of singing healthily is breath control. So many factors go into performing so it impossible to expect singers to sound flawless every day. I guarantee you, he is a brilliant vocalist and will be worth watching live 😊

I had a dance workshop with Layton before he got cast in this and he was amazing his voice is a little breathy though
I may get hate for this but I think Layton was the best Jamie because he gave so much energy to his role and his mannerisms gave so much character to Jamie New
So I'm studying to become a teacher. One day, my sister and I put on this video to just sing and dance along while waiting for people to show up. There was one classmate. A girl wearing a hijab who's been told many times that that will be a struggle teaching/getting a job. As soon as she saw this video, she was so extremely touched by the girls wearing hijabs in this video. so thank you for the diversity!
I saw Layton play Jamie recently and let me tell you, he was absolutely AMAZING

I love Layton, since I discovered him as a rising star in Beautiful People, but he sounded muffled in this rendition, not on point, like his voice was breathy and in need of some oomph. He might have been nervous or something, but the other guy was crystal clear in his deliverance and so well tuned, it's hard to compare. Layton is an absolutely fabulous actor and dancer, so that helps
its mad having grown up watching him on school for stars and now he's killing it in he west end like????? go off sis!!!!

I think everybody needs to realise every Jamie’s gonna be to different. Some will be better than others. And it’s ok to not like a certain Jamie, because they all bring something new like John brought fun/iconic/facial expressions to his, while Layton brought bubbly/sass, while Noah brought emotion/sensitivity. Yes we are all sad to see a Jamie go and a new cast to take over. You can not like a certain Jamie or prefer others but you don’t have to say things like “This Jamie ruined the show” “This Jamie is awful/rubbish” “This Jamie can’t hit the notes” “This Jamie can’t dance and has no facial expressions” e.t.c. Just coz you don’t like them doesn’t mean that you have to say it and doesn’t mean any Jamie did any worse or couldn’t do it right. Thank you

He’s good, but why does he sound American? I loved the previous character because he kept the thick accent all the way through his songs. This guy just brings it out in one or two lines 😑

Krystal Lights Rita Simons is Miss Hedge in the West End currently, so that’s my best guess :)
Not 100% sure who's playing Miss Hedge in this clip, but it definitely isn't Rita Simmons.
Could be Melissa Jacques (the current understudy but don't quote me on that!)
As far as I am aware its Tara Young who is playing hedge here... she is the resident Director/Choreographer of the West End Production as well as cover Hedge and Ray

i hate how the ensembles mics barely work. like i get that jamie is the star, cause it’s literally called, “everyone’s talking about jamie”, but still, give them some of the spotlight they can sing.

I am very much inclined to agree. His breathy, rushed, messy delivery of this song is so off-the-mark. The lyrics to ‘And You Don't Even Know It’ are so witty and without the lyrics being shown, I am quite sure that the vast majority of listeners would miss the bulk of them.

I’m not sure what happened to his voice here.
This guy sings pretty well, but he has to work on his breath control to not end up as tired as here, he exhales a lot of air, it is the only thing that I criticize him.

Just watched this at the Mayflower in Southampton, it was really amateurish and that’s being kind. I felt like I’d stumbled into a school end of year play. Expected so much better given the great reviews
