About 'Democrats and Republicans':
The song is an ethereal blend of dreamy guitar, soaring vocals, and epic strings accompanied by vulnerable lyrics describing the mental effect that a tense political climate has on the people of a nation. More specifically, how corrupt politicians enable division within society for their own twisted agendas.
We saw it with a prior US election and how almost everyone had to have a strict belief in either one side or the other with no room for open-mindedness or hearing different perspectives.
Many people were taking to heart what they heard from a neighbor, social media, or a biased news source and using it to go head-to-head with people from different parties. It was tense and often got violent.
Instead of bringing people together as music does, it divides them. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what people believe, it’s really all about the personal connection you have with them.
On a side note, please send the song to a friend or 2 once you hear it because ever since the main rock promo channels went inactive, we haven’t had much help in promoting our stuff.
It's already extremely difficult for an independent/unsigned band to be heard and our past few releases got slept on pretty hard so every stream, buy, and share will directly help keep WATE alive.

I think this is a very underrated song. It's so true, that the current political systems all over the world are currently fucked up. We should focus more on how to solve the division between people and the problems than just argue about them and take one side or the other. We should LISTEN to each other and take some issues more seriously. Instead of blocking ideas because they came from the other side! Both parties have got some good points, so why not listen and see the things both want to achieve. Mainly a better and more stable economy for everyone, good health care, good living situation. But maybe most importantly a future for our own children! The next generation!

It’s really more about picking the lesser of two evils or becoming the change you want to see. I quite like the multiple interpritations this song can have, at least the ones I've found.
wherever you are politically, I feel like most people can relate pretty strongly with the premise of the song, and even if you cant, you can probably find pretty sound reason to interprit it as the cry of someone feeling lost and or confused, because with all of the fighting, they've never been helped in the way they need, which obviously is something that happens to people.
overall the vibe of the song is pretty nice too, I'm excited to see what else comes out of this album!

I really loved The Ocean album but please try not to take sides in politics or at least laugh at both.
