History of the past for my family it was part of our own history . My Dad was a motorman to Croxley depot when the bakerloo ran a full service . My brother and I were guards at Croxley bakerloo and later drivers joined by my younger brother
In my view connection between Watford, in which many people did, and do aso nowadays, work in London, and the inner London should have been maintained by Underground and not by Overground. Bakerloo line has got many stations within central London
I play Train Sim World 2: London Underground Bakerloo Line From Elephant & Castle To Harrow & Wealdstone and back again with TfL 1972 MkII Tube Stock on my PlayStation 4 Pro so it was really fascinating to see an old video from that route and how it has developed in all those years so many thanks from Copenhagen, Denmark
I encountered this film many years ago but couldn't buy a copy because Pal-playing vhs players were hard to come by on this side of the pond. I was delighted to find it uploaded here. Thank you very much indeed!
The 72mk2s and the few ex Northern line mk1 units are getting life extension works done on them to keep them serving longer. Wow didnt know the mk2s served the Northern line for a bit b4 the Jubilee line when it was new on the scene in the 70s. The Bakerloo and Piccadilly line wont get upgraded till later on so TfL have to keep the 72 and 73 stock in good running condition till then.
Yes, history repeating itself in my lifetime...the Bakerloo having the oldest stock on the system until 1985 with the 1938 Stock (although 5 sets did return to the Northern for peak hour work shortly after this until 1988) and again with the 1972 Mk 2 Stock, which is still the case today.
North of Queen's Park, the BR stock was probably preferred anyway. The class 501 stock was very comfortable, at least the trailer cars were. The power cars were rough, though. The 313 stock was very much a change for the worse.
16:46 This signage must be maintained. At certain stations like Ealing Common I realise this type of signage is ruined by modern signage. It also conceptually seems similar to some Elizabeth Line signage in the core section, all the information being in one place together.
57:40 does anyone know the exact date when the very first refurbished 1972 tube stock train entered service I know the last non-refurbished trains was taken out in early April 1995.
Do you know exactly when because the 1967 tube stock on the Victoria line was first to be done and the first 2 units were done in June 1990 but I never found out when and also the C stock was being refurbished around the same time and nobody knows exactly when the first refurbished C stock entered service.
The 1967 trains would have been refurbished during the very early 1990s and the C stock and the 1972 stock were refurbished around the early to mid 1990s.
Someone proposes it like every year and it gets declined every time... I think Deutsche Bahn and Network Rail have too big slice from owning Watford DC that they can't let it go that easily... First one gets tonns of green by running services from Euston to Watford, and second one by ripping off LUL for it using NR infrastructure on Bakerloo line services (and NR wins even more cause Bakerloo line trains can't even leave the depot without going on NR territory...)
It's now Jubilee, but I've noticed a really funny thing... Jubilee, just like Bakerloo, goes through both Baker Street and Waterloo... Doesn't that make it "Bakerloo 2"?🤣
They did go to both Watford branch and Stanmore, and the core between Baker Street and Elephant couldn't cope with the rising demand from two branches. That's why the Fleet Line (today's Jubilee Line) was proposed, to take over the Stanmore branch and give it dedicated tunnels from Baker Street to Charing Cross.
Sean Lewis these were uploaded for me by a friend originally from VHS tapes , the DVD's you cannot copy due to copyright as they will not let you burn straight to your PC drive to RUclips

I remember when Watford had two Tube lines running into it, the Met and the Bakerloo. Happy days. Great video. 👍

I lived between Carpenders Park and Bushey as a kid and remembered the bakerloo going by while playing football
An excellent compilation plus the doomed APT! Really rare shot.
I will try and do some more . More of a past and present theme probably . Watch this space !

I live in Hatch End loved seeing the old footage of the station
Top video - wish I could see more

An excellent video of the lovely 1938 stock; great footage.
1938 tube stock. The most comfortable tube stock ever to have run.
General Motors no its not
Metropolitan Line 3rd Class carriages had the most comfortable seats.
The Bakerloo line always seems to be last to get new stock. The current 72 stock is in need of an upgrade soon, 40 plus year old trains!
Edwin H they work fine so leave em' ! Lol
The trains are currently undergoing a complete refurbishment, including performance upgrades to prolong their life and increase their reliability.
I can imagine using 1995 tube stock trains - like the never confirmed 1956 stock (at least it looked like) over 30 years ago.

A really interesting report
It is so sad to see these trains go, NTFL will ruin the legacy of the Bakerloo
Brilliant! Subscribed!
William H. Baird thank you !
The background music sounds like a song in instrumental version.
Thanks for pronouncing Wealdstone properly
I used to use those 1938 stock.

MrGriser . I will ask a well known source and get back to you .
MrGriser . 1991 ish . Hope that helps !

MrGriser . Brian Hardy confirmed 1992 .

They should make more trains what look like these
Baker Sreet and Waterloo
Put them together and you get
Baker-Loo
Doesn't it also applies to Jubilee...?
Are you going to do the other lines?:)
Wonder if the Bakerloo Line will be restored back to Watford Junction?
Oludotun John Showemimo maybe .

What music was used in this?
I take the bakerloo line to/from school
34:40 cut out tripcock before changing ends😂
Bakerloo at Stanmore

Just like to know if the trains went from Elephant to either the Watford branch or Stanmore. Or did you have to change at Baker Street? Thanks...

16.51 did I see a palm tree?
limeyosu2000 yes !
shortsighted, though, fouling the Victoria & Jubilee Lines with slim platforms
I don't like the narrator of this he sounds a bit gloomy.
MrGriser 🤣. That’s BBC’s Rob Curling . The commentary sounds like a weather forecast
