I believe it was just one of the factors. A lot of it had to do with VJ and his movement, his anti-phoenix tech when people weren't using it/know of it, and just TACing to leveling up frank when people thought TACing was generally considered too much of a risk if you didn't have Doom, Chun-Li, Magneto or Sentinel. etc
its nice seeing different characters being used
there's no doubt pr rog is an all around amazing fighting game player. that being said, i'd much rather watch him play ssf4 than marvel. as someone said below, his team is the definition of "YOLO" in this game.
Did you see the first set it was 15-6 if you're referring to the second set I did not see it but he still lost and I bet his day walker Vergil was the reason it was 15-12 right?

I'm really confused about whatever happened at 33:12. A trophy popped called 'Dropped the Soap'? I am sure there is no trophy like that in UMVC3, and I figured that these guys were playing on Xbox. I'm not sure what to make of it.

There is a reason why everyone uses Vergil, this is a good example, the majority of the matches PR fraud won, was a level three spamming broken Vergil, so people just pick him for his cheapness. I still think Kusoru bodied him considering his team and that he dropped many combos. PR just has to spam helm break, random teleport cheap mix ups. Not many players want to develop real skill but it is also sad that the game is broken so these talented players who think outside the box, don't have any chance.

I play Vergil because I like him. Don't cheapen every Vergil player just because many use him for his anchor status. Without X factor Vergil isn't special. Let alone, Kusoru should have been able to block half the shit he did. Vergil's Rapid Slash is NEVER safe. Even in X Factor you can grab him out of it when he touches your hit box. Kusoru didn't get beaten by cheapness, he got beaten because he chocked up. In almost every match he fucked up against Vergil when he started something.

I hope you are not defending an otherwise op character out of your fondness for him? I like Vergil too but I'm not going to argue with people who think he's op. There are certain aspects of Vergil that should be nefred. For example his spiral swords. Without X factor Vergil isn't special? I assure you he's not top-tier because of X-factor only. Spiral swords loop, rapid slash, amazing range of sword attack, super fast teleportation, and my favorite (sarcasm) - helm breaker. And if you get Vergil mechanics down, he's not that difficult to use. Try comboing and infinite with Shuma-Gorath. That is hard. On the other hand, I'm well aware that UMVC3 is not a balanced game, so there always will be more powerful characters. Look, I don't wanna argue but defending Vergil and claiming he's not that special looks like you are biased.
P.S. I see your comments on lots of UMC3 videos. You must really like the game and you look like quite a knowledge person. I'd like to have a conversation with you in real life :)

I have a lot of fun watching Kusoru played. Feel like he was trolling quite a bit. xD
The funny part is after Tokido and Kusoru won final round (I'm pretty sure Tokido won FR but not 100%) people kept saying "OH SHIT AMERICA IS FREE AT MARVEL" while the people with common sense said it was matchup inexperience. Fast forward a few months those guys get bodied. Same shit will happen with Nemo the next time he says he'll be going to a marvel tournament.

TheIMP2010 First off, Vergil doesn't have an OTG to do anything special off a 'yolo helm breaker' he can only super or X factor after high time. 'He doesn't need a TAC infinite because he has sword loops' yes, if you want to spend all your meter to kill a character then by all means use the sword loop. It's a very powerful tool but nerfs Vergil once you finish. Unless you have a really good combo, that has to use OTG assists, you won't be meter positive when doing them if you plan on killing a character.
Vergil needs meter to be safe. Everything Vergil does in unsafe on whiff and he needs to make that safe. Just because he can abuse a move to make himself safe doesn't mean it's good. Using meter to make Rapid Slash safe is a really bad thing to do a lot.
Also, if you get hit by 'yolo helmbreaker' then that's your own damn fault. His Helm breaker isn't that good. Scrubs who press buttons when they shouldn't get caught by it. If PR started abusing 'yolo helm breaker' on Justin Wong, I guarantee you he would be punished every single time. Helm breaker is not a safe move on chicken block.
Well, yeah, but most Vergils are played as anchor with X-Factor Lv.3 and he doesn't have to deal with most of that shit if he has at least one bar and lv.3 X-Factor.
vesperianstar Vergil isn't nearly as cheap as Zero or Morrigan. Very powerful, yes, but he's also tall, easy to hit, has low health, and doesn't have the insane projectiles of the other two.
derekmok He still has the swords and the stupid mix ups and the stupid damage output. Im not saying Zero is not broken, I think he's a better character than Vergil and Vergil is just easier to use. Both are kind of broken, but neither of them have no weakenessess. Zero has low life and needs certain assists to be fully effective and can't deal with heavy zoners without meter.
vesperianstar True, Vergil is the definition of broken in XF3. My beef is with people who think he's broken on point. Anyone who plays Vergil knows he's a vastly inferior character to the real top-tier. XF is the only thing that makes him from being high-tier to being top-tier. I remember when nobody used Vergil because he was worthless. Then ShadyK found the loops and all of a sudden people started hating Vergil.
That said, Vergil gets his best stuff off players who don't snap him in when he has XF1. They rather kill the point then snap him in, but Vergil is still powerful in XF2. Considering most people start their Vergil stuff on incoming (usually when the opponent gets too aggressive) I would argue that snapping him in with XF1 is the best possible way to deal with him. Even if Vergil gets a stray hit with incoming helm breaker he has to waste XF1, meter, or simply snap Vergil out to not waste either. It's the lowest-risk way to attack Vergil. Most won't waste XF1 to kill a single character.
Bumbleness Supreme Brady Problem with that strategy is teams like the one in this video. If you use your meter and XF to snap in and kill Vergil before he can tag out, you still have Wolverine w/ Doom assist to deal with. If Vergil is the only good character on the team, all is well and good. But unlike Phoenix, snapping him in early doesn't guarantee you can kill him in one combo. If he gets loose or blocks the incoming cross-up he just needs to use swords for block stun, throw his charged sword, and get a safe tagout. Meanwhile you're down the meter you used snapping him in. If beating a Vergil team was as simple as you make it sound, he would be another Phoenix and you wouldn't see him so much in tournaments.
Plus, even if he's not "completely" broken, he is far too easy to win with. With no practice, I switched from my usual mid-tier team to a 2-mid-tier-plus-scrub-Vergil team against a guy that was whipping my tail (with a top-tier team) and started winning matches immediately with counter-pokes (to avoid getting punished by his unsafe normals) and basic 10-hit combos. The wins felt cheap so I dropped him. Even on point, he can just teleport around a beam assist to make himself safe and kill easily. His damage, punish range, and mobility are so unfair compared to most other characters that have to work 10 times as hard for the same results. Not saying he's the only one, but he's still a ridiculously good character.
Except that he doesn't need an infinite when he can sword loop you, or yolo helm breaker abuse. Or make anything he does safe via swords.

More like 1 day, J wong beat him in a first to 10 right after he won Final Round and a few months later Wong won first place at SBO which is like the Evo of Japan. Since then kusoru hasn't been able to beat any of the American Gods in a long set.
Kusoru does something that not many players in the competitive scene doesn't do, which is sticking to unconventional teams with awesome synergy instead of relying on the top tier chars. Unfortunately, his execution is not as good as the top players we know, that means he loses to the players, not to the characters.
That being said, his matches are awesome to watch.
Rog isn't a Vergil fraud, Vergil isn't Iron Fist, he was designed to be played dumb.
Rog goes all in because Vergil is much better with X Factor, just like any Strider or Pheonix player would do.
Theres a big difference there. Vergil needs meter to be good. Other characters like mag and doom are just as good without meter and actually build a shit ton of meter while killing you.

Man if Kusuro took Marvel more seriously, he would be at the american players level. He's still good though, he just needs to stop playing sloppy.
Kusoru could of won easy, but i never seen him drop so many combos, he def was not in top form here and as for Rog, ehhh, Vergil level 3 x factor.. you know the rest.
Kusoru may not be the best player but he's fun to watch and unpredictable.

Never really thought of vergil as being cheap. The way I c it you get hit with a cross up from him or any other character for that matter you deserve to get hit by that cross up. I like using the character cuz of dmc3 who cares about the tier system anymore

You clearly haven't seen him play Street Fighter IV. If you cannot see his the actual thought process behind his gameplay and just attribute it to being "random" than that makes YOU the brain dead player, not him.
And everyone hating on Vergil.... Really? Almost everyone uses him in the FGC. Chris g, shady k, pr rog, cloud805, green ace, Yipes, mihe, should I continue? Lol! Most players used him at one point or another. I
The other ft15 he lost 15-6.
That said I still think certain things are beyond OP and ruin the game completely such as Vergil, Zero,Wolverine, Hidden Missiles, Vajra, TAC infinites off the top of my head.

Just cause everyone uses him doesn't make him not cheap. Yes no one cares anymore that he's so good and by now everyone should know how to fight him so saying you lost because vergil's broken isn't an excuse or anything, but regardless he's still a very cheap character
