I use Kool aide chicken for channel cats. The best reason to use Kool aide is mix it up, throw it in fridge for a few days and it toughens the chicken up. You won't lose the bait to small strikes

I use kool-aid all the time even add garlic sometimes to it. It's a easy go to if I don't have bluegill or carp

Hope you and your family have been safe! We are west of you and my little town was extremely lucky, everyone around us not so much. Went and got my brother and his family after the storm and have family coming over with roads clearing out to take showers and get some good food. Worst case scenario I had the ol weber kettle and blackstone ready to go! Definitely haven't been fishing any on Catawba river/Lake Rhodhiss so I'm using my phone to watch you fish lol.

I've never tried Kool-aid with chicken Dieter, I'll definitely try it now!! I've used Kool-aid with
Wheaties and a cap full of vanilla for dough ball for carp,
    always worked good!!!

I hear adding garlic powder to the koolaide with the chicken 🐔 helps with bagging catfish. 😀

I just chop up chicken and mix it with a tub of chicken livers and let it soak. It basically just turn the chicken into tougher chicken livers.

I’d like to see you try Pam cooking spray on Shad vs plain Shad. I saw another video and it beat plain Shad. They even soaked rags with it and caught some big blues

Sometimes getting bait in the water is far more important than getting a particular bait in the water.

Now the test is to add Kool aid to the perch to see how they get hit😮

I'm thinking adding Kool Aid to hot dog chunks might be a good combo, cheap and (probably) won't turn nasty if you forget it in the cooler :)

Jello works well for hotdogs it helps keep the bait on the hook with the jello

I notice you use the runcle reel for perch. Have you tried out the bigger sizes for catfish at all? I’m looking to get a 10ish ft rod for bank fishing but trying to decide on a good but affordable spinning reel

First hope you and yours are safe, storm is a lot worst than people thought . Be safe. Cool Aid and Jello work but it' s too messy for me, turns everything red and gritty .

blues are higher channels are lower this time of year. not sur ehow you are trolling right near bottom or, but you should do double rigs and put one hook about 5-10 foot higher then the other one and see if you get more blues. on ky lake im getting a lot of market sized fish in 20-30foot but hooks high off bottom, bigger flatheads are in the shallows going after bait like bluegills and yellows but spread out channels are all over the shallows and bottom. bigger blues are in the channel higher up then most think. some 20 foot off bottom. a lot of the threadfin shad are near the top of water though no matter the depth. but you know bluegills and yellow bass are always low near the bottom mainly. a lot of fish also moved up into bays i just dont fish them till the water cools way down because there isnt a ton of oxygen in them during the hotter time of year so the fish will die on the trotline within the 8 hours i leave them out. the chicken is good but its kind of soft so if i do trotlines with them they do good unless you drop on a school of yellow bass they will strip all the hooks fast. the jello if you buy fresh chicken cut it up then soak just put jello on it keep it as dry as possible and let it sit in fridge or on ice in fridge overnight it tends to get a little stiffer but then ya it makes a mess on hands baiting and on boxes. i use small pieces of it and ill tend to double it up then put it on hook to help it stay on hook better. it doesnt catch as much as say fresh skipjack on the trotlines but its a good alternative for when bait is a pain to get. they also love the little threadfin shads but kind of the same thing they are easy to get stripped off hook but sometimes easy as heck to get with a cast net.

Red is not red below 10’ due to the wave length does not penetrate that deep
