Hasheem Thabeet 😢. I’m a Grizz fan and how we could’ve had Curry, Harden, or even Derozan to go along side with Gasol, Conley, ZBO, and Tony Allen gives me sleepless nights
Let’s get a follow up to the Pacers …if this is a rebuilding year I’ll take it …even tho injuries are apart of the game .i wouldnt of thought they’d be in the eastern finals
i came up with an idea to limit tanking which is to get rid of ping pong balls and have a tournament: 8v8, 9v9 10v10... 15v15 This year it would look like Mia v LAL Chi v GS Atl v Sac Brk v Hou Tor v Uta Char v Mem Was v SAS Det v Por Flip a coin for the winner, second round is: Mia v GS Sac v Hou Tor v Mem SA v Det then: Mia v Hou Tor v SA and: Mia v SA Miami and San Antonio would be the 8th seeds, winner gets to choose which #1 they want to face and also gets the #1 pick in the draft. I'm still working on how the picks sort out, but runner up gets the second pick obviously and the 15th seed that loses the first game wouldn't pick any lower than 6th (Detroit got the 5th this year, thanks ping pong balls!) This is would be great for getting more important moments from these top picks who could be stuck on teams you can't put on tv for years and years. You're possibly putting your marquee guys on a competent roster right away Or you're at least putting a young team in something like a playoff environment so teams and everyone else can get a better feel for if he's really worth the investment
Another idea I'm not nearly as far along with is to get rid of the salary cap altogether and instead just put some kind of limit on free agency Like you can resign anyone you draft and that never counts against the salary cap but you have a cap on how much money you can spend in free agency It doesn't make sense to penalize a team for being good at the draft. But if they do this, they should just get rid of the draft entirely, give everyone a standard rookie deal and base this free agency cap thing on a players rookie extension.
I gotta think through the first one. I like the second one though. Personally I'm a fan of removing how much an individual player can get paid. Let a player eat up as much of the payroll as the team is ok with.
@@whatslaps well I had another idea that you get scouts to give every player a number 1-20 and that's how many millions you get. And the salary cap is like $75M And then, everything else is incentive. You get like $10M to be MVP, $8M for all NBA 1st team, $7M for 2nd team, etc Teams can add incentives that don't count against the cap, like play 70+ games = $3M Whatever So that way, we don't have Bradley Beal and Jaylen Brown making all NBA once and getting a fat contract. But you could have a 1994 Olajuwon win every award and the championship and individually make like $100M but only $20 against the cap. And these team incentives could be something small market teams use in free agency negotiation 🤔
@@whatslapsoh, I meant to say that teams would actually play basketball to decide this I was just flipping a coin to pick a winner for the example If they want to make the season longer, they could not do that, but have actual basketball games decide more things Like the draft order Or, i just left a comment on another one of your videos, a game to decide who is even eligible to be drafted
Really think about this: You said it's dumb if you take a pay cut for a team. Is it really the goal of players to earn the most money in their career. What is that a measure of? Could we from thin air come up with other parameters to consider when players sign contracts? sure. Loyalty, organization, chemistry, family. That's just from the top of my head. I don't see the need for more money being something to strive for past a certain point. 50 or 100 million who the f... cares.
7:53 bro predicted wemby to the spurs
ask me anything about your future.
@@whatslapswill I get a 4.0 gpa?
So what the wizards refuse to do
OMG. I have no idea what they're doing over there. Paying Beal like he's Lebron to get to the 8th seed? Let's be real, the blazers are guilty too.
Crazy watching this a year later
don't tell anyone that I recycle video ideas.
Check out the fresh new cut. I like your perspective/breakdown (and graphics) on these topics. Another good vid.
Much appreciated! I'm getting loads of compliments on this cut. Thanks a lot Skyler! Your support means a lot!
Crazy to see the Pacers in the ECF.
Good to see Spicy P doing some work.
I know. I'm not even counting them out. they're a good squad.
8:02 I’ve been watching you for a while now but didnt know you were from Indiana! I’m an indianapolis native myself
Nice! Great city! Sun King Brewery rules.
a thunder follow up for this video would be neat - sincerely, 2024
i'll add it to the queue
Players taking pay cuts do happen occasionally, think Dirk or Manu
Lebron Duncan too
A year later the pacers were on the ecf
haha, was I right or wrong?

you never know how a player is going to progress in a situation though. forgive yourself.
@@whatslaps true but I knew Thabeet was always going to progress as Thabust 😞

same. same. the path kind of opened up for them with injuries

I don't know about you, but every day I wake up for some money.
I hear you though. I'm just saying you could sign a team-friendly deal to stay on a team and then they trade your sorry butt to the Rockets.
Thank you for the heat love
